What killed John Cooksey?
I always thought he was a really interesting guy with his HS-focused media. He invited me to interview when he wanted to expand his channel with reporters and then all of a sudden he was in the hospital and they couldn’t figure out what was going on…

Recommended stops otw to hot springs
Me and my family are traveling to hot springs this weekend. Were coming from Fort smith to see the mid Americas science museum. Its a 2 1/2 hour drive with a 7yr and 2yr old. Were wanting to make a stop somewhere in the middle to give the kids a break. Any recommendations for where to stop? Parks, trails, other attractions. We'll be traveling down hwy 71 and hwy 270.
Edit: food spots would also be appreciated for the area.

Is Dragan actually selling the Performance Toys property?
There's a Facebook ad running from someone claiming to be the realtor for it, and that it's on the market.

Recommendations in Dec
Hi! I'm a single woman looking at visiting Hot Springs for the first time in December, probably Fri/Sat to Tues. Looking for recommendations and suggestions for hotel, good, activities. Trying to decide on a hotel. Thinking of Arlington Resort (mineral bath room), 1890 Williams House Inn, or Hotel Hale. I would like to have a really nice bathtub, breakfast, fireplace. I want to feel safe, but I would like the option of socializing with others in the evening.
I am thinking about Arlington Resort since they have the evening entertainment (I love dancing but it sounds like it's just couples, but nice to see someone playing music), plus has a bath tub, and can buy breakfast, although it doesn't look like a deep tub. However, 1890 Williams House Inn sounds really nice with breakfast, tub, and potentially fireplace, but it's at least $50 more a night, plus at night would probably need to stay there or get an Uber. Hotel Hale is similar price to Williams House but would need to buy breakfast every day

WHO’S AFRAID OF LADONNA HUMPHREY? AN ARKANSAS STORY THE TRUE-CRIME COMMUNITY NEEDS TO HEAR.
What happens when someone who presents herself as an advocate for victims becomes the subject of serious allegations of victimizing others?
Meet LaDonna Humphrey.
A true-crime author, former CrimeCon speaker, missing persons advocate and leader in the sober living community, Humphrey has built a public image around helping vulnerable people. But an investigative podcast has brought forward disturbing allegations about what may have been happening behind that image.
AND THIS ISN’T JUST ABOUT ALLEGATIONS. THERE IS A DOCUMENTED $3.57 MILLION CIVIL JUDGMENT.
In 2019, a Benton County court entered a $3,570,977.88 judgment against Humphrey following litigation involving evidence-related sanctions and contempt findings. The court also entered permanent injunctions.
Humphrey pursued further legal challenges, but a federal appeals court dismissed her 2025 appeal concerning the bankruptcy sale of her appellate rights, leaving that sale intact.
THE PEOPLE WHO HAVE COME FORWARD
Investigative journalist Javier Leiva examines these allegations in Season 18 of PRETEND: Who’s Afraid of LaDonna Humphrey?
The investigation includes several particularly troubling accounts:
Alecia Lockhart: Humphrey’s former friend, podcast co-host and co-author describes nearly two years of frightening anonymous threats. She later discovered evidence that led her to suspect the person she had trusted throughout the ordeal. Humphrey denies creating or operating the account in question.
The Melissa Witt and Maura Murray cases: The podcast raises questions about Humphrey’s handling of sensitive investigative materials in the Witt case. Maura Murray’s sister, Julie, has also described concerns about Humphrey’s involvement in her family’s search for answers.
Humphrey’s own family: Her sister, Margo Elston, discusses family estrangement and receiving anonymous threatening messages. She has not definitively identified Humphrey as their sender.
Women in recovery: Former residents and staff of Oasis of Northwest Arkansas have raised concerns about their experiences and Humphrey’s leadership. Oasis’s board has publicly defended her leadership and the organization’s operations.
AND THE ONLINE CONTROVERSY CONTINUES.
[r/LadonnaHumphreyTalk](r/LadonnaHumphreyTalk), has been discussing the investigation, examining publicly available information and sharing perspectives on the allegations.
WHY SHOULD YOU CARE?
Because families searching for missing loved ones, people reporting harassment and women seeking recovery deserve trustworthy advocates.
When someone occupies positions of public trust, serious allegations about their conduct deserve examination, particularly when there are documented legal proceedings alongside firsthand accounts.
I’m sharing this because I believe people should hear these stories, examine the evidence and make informed decisions about whom they trust.

Listen to the podcast. Read the court records. Hear from the people who have come forward. Draw your own conclusions.
The true-crime community and the families of missing persons deserve transparency, accountability and responsible advocacy.

Pizza this and BBQ that
I’m trying to find where the Fried Chicken is at! Where’s the spot in Hot Springs? I looked for Chicken Ed’s down on HWY 5 but looks like that closed a while ago.

Kali in Hot Springs?
I looked online and there isn't a school, which was not surprising given it is more niche, for Kali/escrima in town. Are there any practitioners looking for a semi experienced Kali partner to keep from getting rusty? Rubber tire posts and the like are great but i need human responses to keep from developing poor angles. Anyone interested?
P.S. I can't really get out to little rock pr anything over 5 minutes from Hot Springs yet.

Strays
Good morning, does anyone here have any idea what local resources are available for stray cats and kittens?
I live about twenty minutes outside Hot Springs and have called the local shelter (not the garland county shelter but I do live in garland county) for months, originally explaining that there were pregnant strays and now of course there are kittens.
It is sad and I want to find them families and now they are weaned. I have handled the young ones and two of the adults so they would be social to improve their chances of adoption, but eventually they will not be small kittens and will have a poorer chance of adoption.
Everywhere I talk to is full and I do not know any fosters. Does anyone know of any resources?

Is big event music closed?
Is there another music store that sells electronics and cables for recording? Not trying to go to Little Rock if I can help it. I saw there’s a place called guidos I think? But that looks mostly like instruments to me.

Planning a short family vacation
Hi Everyone,
My wife and I are planning a short vacation to Hot Springs with our 4-month-old and two dachshunds. I've done a good amount of research but wanted the opinion of locals before I book anything. We are planning on 2-3 hiking days with the baby/dogs, half a day of off-roading (I have a lifted 4x4 SUV), and half day for local attractions. On the hiking days, I would like to spend one day in the Hot Springs National Park area and a day or so in the surrounding parks or Lake Ouachita area. The one hiccup is we will be pushing a stroller with large wheels to hold the baby and dogs, so trails need to be stroller friendly. Lake Ouachita State Park and Ouachita National Forest look interesting, but I am very open to suggestions. Off-road wise, what fun Forest Roads have a nice view? The local off-road park will be too bumpy for my baby. Lastly, what restaurants and local attractions will be easy for us to take our baby to? We love all types of food. I've read good things about Fisherman's Wharf, the GOAT, and Deluca’s Pizza.
Thanks in advance.

Is This HS Boat Rental Company Legit?
Everything seems legit when going to purchase here but I’m unable to call a person, I can’t find recommendations, and there’s no physical location. Could it be this is like a new service that doesn’t have a storefront, or it is a scam?

Job Searching?
Hey all. I've noticed quite a few people making job posts so I'll throw my hat in the ring, too. I'm looking for a job with upward mobility (i.e, career potential) that isn't sales. Bit of a hard ask...
I have a bachelor's degree in Art, and I also have 3 years of work experience in Information Technology doing a helpdesk role. I'm currently pursuing online learning with Apprenticely via Coursera as well. So far I've earned the Google AI Professional Certificate, and am currently working on the Data Analytics one. Other than that, I also have experience in retail, restaurants (cook) and warehouse (package handler.) In total I have about 7 years of work experience on my resume.
Something in Hot Springs would be awesome because I live here, but anything within a 2 hour drive is also good (Little Rock, Benton, Conway, etc) I'm okay with a lower pay if it means I have an opportunity for advancement down the line.
Ideally a tech job would be good, (or anything in an office, really!) I've currently applied to a few jobs on ARCareers, along with some on Indeed, but it looks like a lot of Arkansas jobs aren't using aggregate sites. If you know of any places hiring, please let me know!

EV Charging
Staying near downtown a couple days next week, trying to decide if we wanna drive wife’s new EV but unsure of the charging infrastructure! Coming from Tx then heading over to Fort Smith. Don’t wanna chance it charging is few and far between!
