Hello redditors of r/HongKong! I’m traveling to HK for the first time in December and am eager to experience TCM as I’ve never tried it, in way that is culturally enriching / educational, hopefully fun, and also beneficial for my health. I saw a youtuber who went to a city in Mainland China where she showed a shop where you could tell shopkeeper about your health concerns / needs and they would make a custom tea blend for you, you could also drink some there if you wanted. I’m wondering if Hong Kong has anything like this that would be friendly for an English speaking tourist. Thank You!
I am interested in working in finance (HF ideally) in Hong Kong once I graduate. I have received offers at both Rotman School of Management and Ivey Business School. I am having trouble deciding on which to choose. I would love to hear input on this.
I am just curious why so many caller, they doesn't stop even for a day 🤣, like they have hundreds of numbers? I didn't answer any of the calls and always blocked unknown calls. But this never stops every day. Sometimes 2-3 unknown numbers will call and i keep blocking them. What exactly are they selling? And how everyone is like know my number 🤣🤣.
All this for $69, you get a lot for your money. The only bad thing is it takes a while, definitely not fast food (minimum 1hr +) but this is great value for money and I believe not as much MSG as other places. On top of that I've been to a few proper hotpot places recently and it's crazy what they charge - I've paid $240+ just for the soup then you add beef platters for $350, $500 for seafood platter and not a huge amount.
Hi, does anyone have experience of hiring a part-time domestic helper? Someone who doesn't live with you, and works only maybe 4-6hrs each week? Looking for suggestions/advice. Many thanks
[EDIT FOR CLARITY] Not looking for illegal options. I am looking for someone who can help stay on top of my housework, part time. That person would need to be able to work legally in HK.
Is there any affordable way to get vyvanse? I have a diagnosis and prescription in the UK, but am struggling to get hold of it living in HK. I'm have an appointment with HA public pychiatrist in a few months but I can't wait that long (and they even said it wouldnt be vyvanse that they would prescribe anyway).
I'm willing to pay the fee for a consultation with a private pyschiatrist, but my worry is that after that the actual cost of the meds will be too expensive. Does anyone know which private pyschiatrists charge what for vyvanse here? I'd be willing to pay up to 1K per month, but obviously would prefer lower.
Im live in the states and want to buy a msx 125 in hk to ride around in when visiting..is this mini allowed to go through the tunnels? I know you can't ride on the highways but idk if tunnels are considered highways. How do people from kowloon get to the hong kong side on a mini? By boat?
A few things worth checking out around town this week if you're after something to do.
Butterfly Patisserie has a Les Choux pop-up on Wednesday, Oct 14, good excuse for an afternoon treat if you're near the area.
Over at Sotheby's Hong Kong, Chestnut Trees in Blossom opens the same day, Wednesday Oct 14, a nice one for anyone into visual arts and happy to browse for free.
WKCDA Tower is also running the Synchronicity Exhibition from Wednesday Oct 14, worth a look if you haven't been to the tower space before.
If you're shopping around Causeway Bay, SOGO has a Cup Of Therapy pop-up on, and New Town Plaza has a stamp rewards market running too, both good for killing time and maybe picking something up.
I applied for the QMAS visa by uploading PDFs of my US university's transcript + verification from Parchment (an approved third party credential provider). The immigration dept rejected it because they require a public URL to authenticate credentials from the provider's platform.
Parchment doesn't provide permanent public download links, but they do have a "Document Delivery Verification Tracker" that provides a public link with the sending school and document date (see image). This page confirms document legitimacy but not the full transcript content.
I plan to resubmit the QMAS application with a PDF containing a direct link to this tracker and a copy of the transcript/degree verification. Does anyone know if this adequately satisfies the application requirement?
(Side note: Also quite frustrating this "direct link" criteria wasn't explicitly stated and my application was rejected without any chance to followup.)
Tai Po Football Club on Tuesday said it has mutually agreed with player Gabriel Mesquita to terminate his contract with immediate effect.
The Brazilian had been suspended from first-team training since Monday for allegedly sending racist messages on his social media account after being provoked by a comment.
Writing on social media, the club said its Disciplinary Committee completed its investigation and internal proceedings in a fair and objective manner, during which Mesquita had the opportunity to state his case.
The club added that it maintains a strict zero-tolerance policy against racism and improper conduct.
The 19-year-old midfielder made two appearances for Tai Po since joining the club this summer.
Hi! Anyone knows the ways of working of Muay Thai coaches here in HK. Do they get salary or paid by commission. As my friend is considering on moving here for a year. Thank you!
My samsung s23 ultra screen is broken, I'm looking for a place to repair it. Don't want to use samsung official repair because they told me they'd have to wipe the device and some of the photos have not been backed up.
Previously I repaired an old samsung at the New Wan chai computer center (next to the MTR) they did a terrible job and whenever I'd touch the screen, it felt like there was a gap under the screen and it was bending inside. So I'm looking for a shop that actually does decent work.
So would love to hear if anyone has experience where they've been happy with the repairs
EDIT: Mostly looking for actual shop recommendations, I really want to avoid going to Sham Shui Po or a computer center and end up choosing a shop that does as poor a job as the one in wanchai computer center did before.
EDIT2: Went to Chi Sing Mobile repair. So far seems to be good, I looked while they did the repair and the person doing it was rather detail oriented.
I only just found out FlyTaxi was shutting down when I got this SMS today, apparently just months after Uber bought them. Last time it was HKTaxi, and now it seems they're doing the same to FlyTaxi.
OG HKTaxi was great and honestly it's been a lot harder to get a taxi reliably since Uber bought them and shut them down. Uber Taxi is just an inferior and less reliable product compared to HKTaxi, and I'm not even considering the higher prices I end up paying via Uber
I mean I realize industry leaders buying out smaller rivals to quash competition happens all the time but this seems a bit too anti-competitive and is clearly bad for consumers
