Context: In 1988, famous Hawaiian singer Israel Kamakawiwo’ole, otherwise known as IZ, called his studio at about 3 AM asking if he could record. They let him in and in a single take recorded his covers of Somewhere Over the Rainbow and What a Wonderful World. The room reportedly fell silent after he finished

Marx was beast [repost]
He was a competitive ranked racist anti-semite despite being Jewish himself😭
In a letter to Friedrich Engels dated July 30, 1862, Marx wrote:
"The Jewish [N-word] Lassalle who, I’m glad to say, is leaving at the end of this week, has happily lost another 5,000 talers in an ill-judged speculation."
NOTE: Original post was doing numbers until it was removed due to “excessive racism”.
I removed the censored N-words completely. But it's just so funny people can't even post what he said or did because it was excessively racist and batsh!t insane.

Last Al-Andalus Sultan vs last Eastern Roman Emperor
Both were beautiful civilizations that shaped the Middle Ages, and this post isn't meant to disrespect the history of Al-Andalus, Rather it is meant to highlight the contrast between their final rulers.
Muhammad XI better known as Boabdil, he surrendered Granada to the combined forces of Castile and Aragon in an effort to spare his life and secure terms for the city's surrender to also spare the lives of his city, Constantine XI Palaiologos on the other hand, he refused to surrender Constantinople when the Ottomans besieged the city, and when the Ottomans entered the city he took up his sword and he fought alongside his men, choosing to face death on the battlefield rather than flee.

Perhaps he was buried alive.
Context=A new theory suggests he was only paralyzed when he was declared dead.Katherine Hall of the Dunedin School of Medicine at the University of Otago in New Zealand, Alexander’s symptoms resembled a case of a neurological disorder called Guillain-Barré Syndrome (GBS), in which the body’s immune system attacks the nerves, leading to eventual paralysis. The most disturbing part of Hall’s theory is that Alexander probably was probably still alive when he was declared dead.

Niche Until the late 18th century, France had approximately 20 different languages spoken by millions of Europeans. The policy of centralization and discrimination against other European cultures and languages within France led to the almost complete extinction of all other languages by 20 century
It’s quite curious: if you look at modern definitions of genocide (which include the destruction or prohibition of a people’s language as part of an effort to eradicate their identity) and then examine the laws and government decrees of many centralized 19th-century European states, you arrive at the conclusion that, by today’s definition, almost all of those European states committed cultural genocide against their own populations.
