Niche Average Engels' comment about someone with a small African ancestry:

Lafargue was on their side btw & they still talked about him this way.

He wasn't even significantly African; he was primarily white & Jewish.

Dude legit coulda passed as white these days and still got called the N-word🥀

Edit: some people are denying it so here's his letter:

Thanks to u/Khan-Khrome “

That's straight up one of his letters, and it's pretty clear he's using it in a derogatory manner by combining "N\*o" and "gorilla" to form "n\rillo", which continues in his other correspondence about Lafargue it seems.

""My dear Laura, My congratulations to Paul le candidat du Jardin des Plantes—et des animaux. Being, in his quality as a [N-word], a degree nearer to the rest of the animal kingdom than the rest of us, he is undoubtedly the most appropriate representative of that district. Let us hope the animaux will have the best of it in this struggle against the bêtes." (Marx/Engels Collected Works. Vol. 48. Letters 1887-90. [Engels to Laura Lafargue in Paris. London, 26 April 1887]. pp. 52-54).

No man can be ahead of his time, all the time.

Jesus was Chinese.

Historically, both white and black supremacists have attempted to claim Jesus as a reflection of their own racial identity to legitimize ideological dominance. White supremacist groups traditionally depicted Jesus as a Caucasian figure, using Europeanized imagery to reinforce doctrines of racial superiority and divine right. Conversely, black supremacist theology counters this by arguing that the biblical Jesus possessed African or 'burnt brass' features, rooted in his geographical and genealogical heritage. Both factions weaponize sacred history, projecting contemporary racial divisions onto a historical figure who transcended modern classifications. While historical consensus places Jesus as a first-century Middle Eastern Jewish man, these divergent appropriations reveal how deeply theology intertwines with cultural identity. Ultimately, both narratives risk reducing a universal spiritual teacher into a sectarian symbol of exclusion.

Jeff Sessions is a former senator and attorney from Alabama who was also Trump’s attorney general. He’s also had a history of racism controversies. One was in 1986 when he was nominated by Reagan to be the US district judge of the southern district of Alabama. Controversy ultimately kept him from getting the position as even Coretta Scott King opposed the nomination. The senate judiciary committee had hearings where four lawyers testified Sessions had made racist remarks. One of the stranger ones was a joke he made about how he thought the KKK was “OK until I found out they smoked pot”. For the record Sessions did apologize and other people who worked with him like Barry Kowalski and Albert Glenn knew that he was joking. But I don’t know, that’s a weird thing to joke about. He’s not helping the stereotypes about white Alabamans

While ancient Egyptian civilization receives immense historical acclaim, the Indus Valley Civilization (IVC) remains comparatively overlooked despite being larger in geographic scope and older in establishment. Spanning over a million square kilometers across modern-day India and Pakistan, the IVC boasted advanced urban planning, sanitation systems, and standardized weights that rivaled its Nile counterpart. However, because its enigmatic script remains undeciphered and its society left behind fewer grandiose monuments like royal tombs, it lacks the dramatic narrative hooks that captivate popular imagination. Consequently, Western-centric historiography has historically marginalized the IVC, casting a shadow over one of humanity's most sophisticated and sprawling ancient cultures.

Niche Until the late 18th century, France had approximately 20 different languages spoken by millions of Europeans. The policy of centralization and discrimination against other European cultures and languages within France led to the almost complete extinction of all other languages by 20 century

It’s quite curious: if you look at modern definitions of genocide (which include the destruction or prohibition of a people’s language as part of an effort to eradicate their identity) and then examine the laws and government decrees of many centralized 19th-century European states, you arrive at the conclusion that, by today’s definition, almost all of those European states committed cultural genocide against their own populations.

Context=A new theory suggests he was only paralyzed when he was declared dead.Katherine Hall of the Dunedin School of Medicine at the University of Otago in New Zealand, Alexander’s symptoms resembled a case of a neurological disorder called Guillain-Barré Syndrome (GBS), in which the body’s immune system attacks the nerves, leading to eventual paralysis. The most disturbing part of Hall’s theory is that Alexander probably was probably still alive when he was declared dead.

Both were beautiful civilizations that shaped the Middle Ages, and this post isn't meant to disrespect the history of Al-Andalus, Rather it is meant to highlight the contrast between their final rulers.

Muhammad XI better known as Boabdil, he surrendered Granada to the combined forces of Castile and Aragon in an effort to spare his life and secure terms for the city's surrender to also spare the lives of his city, Constantine XI Palaiologos on the other hand, he refused to surrender Constantinople when the Ottomans besieged the city, and when the Ottomans entered the city he took up his sword and he fought alongside his men, choosing to face death on the battlefield rather than flee.

Context: In 1988, famous Hawaiian singer Israel Kamakawiwo’ole, otherwise known as IZ, called his studio at about 3 AM asking if he could record.
