Yeah, this image has been "cleaned" by AI which has made it quite surreal when you look at it full-size.

This photo WAS NOT created by AI!!! Before you voice your opinion, do some research on the subject first !!! More information about the photo: Location: Cremerstraat 95, Haarlem, The Netherlands. Year: 1948 (photographed by C. Boer, from the collection of the Noord-Hollands Archief). Subject: A young milkman with a cigarette in his mouth, surrounded by local customers and children, dispensing dairy products from milk churns (melkbussen) on a delivery cargo bike. Background: The storefront displays signs for dairy products (zuivelproducten) and Douwe Egberts coffee and tea (koffie en thee)

I didn't say it was created by AI, I said that someone has run it through a clean-up, possibly an AI-powered cleanup, and that has distorted many details in the picture.

No need to get all bent out of shape over something I didn't say.

Yes but it has very obviously been ran thru some rather horrible filter that stood out like a sore eye even on the thumbnail.

Here is the original: https://noord-hollandsarchief.nl/beelden/beeldbank/detail/3E5FA85F6662C998E4E9C34E77C35D39/media/9e696e8b-f5e0-367b-4bee-abf376dcaa6d?mode=detail&view=horizontal&q=cremerstraat%2095&rows=1&page=1

They didn’t say it was created by AI, they said it was “cleaned,” or as I would say “upscaled” by AI. Even if it is based on a real image, AI upscaling makes images look AI-esque. It’s pretty noticeable if you zoom in on any of the faces, the spokes of the wheels, that sign behind the bespectacled man’s head, or those signs above the girl on the far right’s head.

This is the original from the archive imagebank. It clearly has been "improved" by ai or another filter, which to me in a sub like this is quite unforgivable. https://noord-hollandsarchief.nl/beelden/beeldbank/detail/3E5FA85F6662C998E4E9C34E77C35D39/media/9e696e8b-f5e0-367b-4bee-abf376dcaa6d?mode=detail&view=horizontal&q=cremerstraat%2095&rows=1&page=1

Could have done some basic color correction instead of this bullshit

It's even a quite decent quality photograph, especially considering its age. Definitely not in need of any correction whatsoever.
