TLDR (Too Lazy Didn't Read): r/HeroQuest will not ban content made with the help of AI tools.
HeroQuest is the reason we are here. Our community includes people from many countries, religions, and backgrounds. We may come from different places and speak different languages, but we come here because we enjoy HeroQuest. The excitement of the game, the fun it creates, and the friendships it builds- that is what brings us together.
Artificial intelligence (AI) has been part of digital artistic tools for decades. Programs like Photoshop, CorelDraw, and CAD use AI in their functionality. Phone camera filters use AI. Major technology companies such as Microsoft, Google, and Apple also use AI in the background of their systems. Simply put, AI is common in today’s digital world and cannot be avoided if you use creative software or a computer.
Hasbro, which owns the HeroQuest intellectual property, and Avalon Hill, which currently holds the license to the game, both use AI in game development and item production. AI is also used in the official HeroQuest companion app.
This community is a place to share ideas, creativity, and joy related to HeroQuest. Arguments about politics, religion, personal lifestyles, and prejudice do not belong here. We understand that people have different opinions, but this community is not the place to discuss those opinions. People want to come here to share and enjoy a fun board game hobby without conflict and confrontation (see rule #1). Political and activist subs are the appropriate forums for discussing those subjects, not here.
Personal attacks against members of this community will not be accepted. Harassing a community member because of a perception that AI may have been used is not permitted. Attacking their shared work is not allowed. Posts intended to create conflict will be removed. Repeats of that behavior will lead to temporary warning bans; continued actions in the same vein will lead to permanent removal.
If you are concerned about a post, contact the moderators.
The only thing better than HeroQuest is more HeroQuest. If someone creates homebrew content, it belongs here. If you do not enjoy certain content or disagree with it, express yourself civilly or simply choose not to interact with it. If you find it offensive, report it; our Mod team takes all reports seriously.

Very happy with this one, miniatures and cards unpunched and with the Quest Book like new. Only thing missing are the two door bases, anyone know if I can pick them up anywhere or will I need to get someone to print them for me?
Happy with it for the grand sum of £29.64.

According to the author or this video the rules are kinda bad, but I'm sure by using heroquest rules it'd be pretty fun!

So to address the first question you probably have seeing these photos - yes this is still heroquest not D&D. We have adopted some d&d mechanics like d20s and checks to make roleplay and combat more immersive but we still roll combat dice, still roll to move, still use cards, still use furniture and doors, and still call it HeroQuest!
This story has been ongoing since 1989 when my dad first got the game. The canon and timeline have remained intact so naturally the world got bigger. The game grew beyond the board the game system came with (though we still use it a lot!) we’ve come up with our own continents with their own cities populations and politics.
So why not just play d&d? Cause d&d ain’t HeroQuest and HeroQuest is what we love!
I’ve shared stuff from our homebrew world and games previously on here but have been pretty proud of these recent sessions and wanted to share!
This campaign has been very steampunk and love craft which has been awesome. We’re particularly proud of the original characters and pieces we designed in heroforge, printed ourselves, and painted. Also included just a couple of the custom cards we’ve made. (We’ve made hundreds at this point lol)
But heroquest is amazing, our group is great we all work super hard on interesting and unique campaigns that have expanded the original concept of heroquest but keep what makes heroquest intact.
Anyway, enjoy some pics from the last couple of sessions!

Hello, I was planning to have a 10-session or so campaign for 2027 with my usual boardgame group. We are all experienced boardgame players; we played Gloomhaven, Aeon's End, Claustrophobia, Solomon kan, Arkharm Horror TCG, Etherfields, etc. I'm wondering what options to propose. Currently I have "First Light + Core box + Prophecy of Telor + Kellar's Keep + Witch lord. I'm already playing First Light with another group.
What I was considering:
Thank you!

I want to create a multi quest campaign that could be the Zargon backstory. The who was he, where did he come from, how'd he rise to power type of thing. I have all the quest books that have been reprinted with the 2021 version but I was wondering if there is any canon that is relatively agreed upon or written about outside the quest books that I should be versed in before building the campaign. Feel free to drop ideas if you've thought about this too (or it already exists)

Does anyone know if the HeroQuest companion app adjusts quests depending on the number of players? For example, if a quest with 4 PCs there are 21 NPC, will the app adjust the # of NPC if there were 2 PCs?

Basic rock? Anything fancy or unexpected? - also looking for some fun ideas for the entry/exit doors (or mimic doors)from later expansions.

I wrote a D&D one-shot involving a boss fight with a modified Giant Spider and thought the Blightcrawler was the perfect mini. I’m still a relatively new painter but I felt myself getting better with this one, I’m quite proud of it :)

Merci beaucoup :)!

Popped into my Favorite Local Game Store (Crossroads Games in Maine) and noted they have a copy of WoM on the shelf.
If you're still waiting/looking for it, ring up some local game stores and you might get lucky.

I made a box organiser for HeroQuest using Gridfinity compatible bins.
There's plenty of storage for the base set plus extras, and because it uses Gridfinity as a base it is easily expandable.
Most importantly there is a special bin to store the rats and skulls, which are the most important pieces in the box.
Hope it's useful to someone!
And here's the link which I forgot to add https://www.printables.com/model/1874349-gridfinity-box-organiser-for-heroquest

Wanted to drop a note about my “speedy” process as I had some questions. I’m sure others have even better ideas out there for my “quest to paint all these minis ‘good enough’”
White primer, then markers, which you can see are NOT perfect, then the dark tone wash to really make them presentable. Sharp eyed folks will notice just a bit of dry brushing for the armored scales (which I then went over with the Caribbean blue marker just to make them stand out a bit).
Still going quickly though I had to pause in order to paint ALL…THE…DOORS… they look nice but after six of them I was dreaming of my old cardboard doors.
I’ll post the set once it’s done but wanted to share what the marker process looked like in the ugly middle.
