Lane would never speed! He's a good boy! Good influence on Ivan.

Demidov went from driving in the fast lane to being driven by the slow Lane.

Lane: Mom can I borrow the car? I want to go to the rink
Mom: take your little brother with you
Lane: Ivan. Hurry up, Mom let me borrow the car. Let's go for a skate
12
u/GBedard92 12h ago
Ivan is the 'little' brother of Lane ? .. I would have thought it was Lane who was the little brother
37
u/Horta 12h ago
FWIW, Lane is almost two years older.
-5
u/GBedard92 11h ago
I was not talking about age ..
11
u/PlaynesNBotes 9h ago
Since when does height matter when talking about "little" and "big" brothers lol, it's always about age
8
3
u/ForceGhost47 12h ago
Lane is no one’s little brother!
6
u/sqrtofnegativeseven 9h ago
quinn hutson might have something to say about that...
2
u/NinjaarcherCDN 5h ago
Wait he has an older brother too? I knew Cole was his little brother but I didn't realise Quinn was related.

u/dawn_lemon 13h ago
lane hutson only speeds on the ice 🙂↕️🙏

Pic from 2025 btw, in case it wasn't obvious this post is meant as a joke(?)
26
u/Phoenix__211 12h ago
Yup, people didn't catch the joke
10
u/FakeCrash 12h ago
I mean I'm kind of dumb but I did end up figuring out the pic was impossible since the team is on the road right now lol

I saw the snow so I knew it clearly couldn't be a current picture, but I thought it was maybe based on Ivan actually losing his license? I have no idea why OP is posting this otherwise, except that they're karma farming.
ETA: It is real news. He has not lost it yet, but he might: https://www.tvanouvelles.ca/2026/10/14/adepte-de-vitesse-demidov-risque-de-perdre-son-permis

Except that it was taken in 2025 and it doesn't have anything to do with Demidov losing his license.
1
u/whogivesashirtdotca 10h ago
And Lane looking like he's enjoying the public chirping he knows is coming for Demi.
24
u/Bytrsweet 12h ago edited 12h ago
Ivan most likely still has his probationary license where he can only get 4 demerit points. If he was caught going 120 crossing Champlain bridge I'm pretty sure that is enough for him to get 4 demerit points. he drives an Audi RS5 or 6 so it would not take too much to go that quick.
15
u/macula_transfer 12h ago
OK Demi, we need to talk. You got banned for driving... in Montreal. Montreal decided you were a dangerous driver. That's not good.
36
u/ComprehensiveTax7 13h ago
So slaf wrecked his lambo and then demi had to drive him. Now demi lost his license and lane has to drive him.
One would guess that 22 year olds millionaires would be more responsible...
28
4
u/TheIdentifySpell 12h ago
Hold up, is this true? I haven't seen anything about either of them
16
u/quellesaveurorawnge 12h ago
Slaf had the front of his new car (not a lambo as far as I know, just some kind of SUV) crushed by the automatic door in Cole's building when he first moved to Montreal, which the guys mocked him relentlessly for.
Some people are saying this Demi thread is a joke. I have no idea what the joke is exactly though.

The picture is a joke since it's from last season but he's currently about to lose his license for multiple speeding infractions
3
u/byronite 10h ago
In fairness to Demi, "multiple" is precisely two infractions. However, in both cases, he was indeed going unreasonably fast -- 110km/h in a 70 zone and 145km/h in a 100 zone. Both infractions are right on the threshold of street racing under Ontario law.
1
u/Let_epsilon 4h ago
110km/h in a 70 zone
Call me crazy but 110 km/h on Metropolitan is definitely not unreasonably fast.

u/quellesaveurorawnge 12h ago edited 12h ago
After I posted this, I did find an article about it, but I don't understand why OP didn't actually post a link to that along with the silly picture. https://www.tvanouvelles.ca/2026/10/14/adepte-de-vitesse-demidov-risque-de-perdre-son-permis
Link to the same news in English: https://montrealgazette.com/news/canadiens-ivan-demidov-appeals-speeding-ticket-in-effort-to-save-drivers-licence/

Maybe that's why Reinbacher was called up to sit. He lives at the same building and can give Demi a ride

u/Hotboxia 13h ago
couldn't bribe the cops like they do in russia lol
56
u/Saundies 13h ago
I was gonna say, Lane Hutson seems like the most 'I'm good going the limit' guy I've ever seen.
32
u/Hotboxia 13h ago
"L’attaquant aurait été intercepté au volant de son Audi RS Q8 sur l’autoroute Bonaventure à 111 km/h, alors que la limite permise n’y est que de 70 km/h." Quel homme dangeureux! 111 km/h sur l'autoroute! (les gens roulent 120 dans le traffic quotidiennement la bas)
15
u/Old_General_6741 12h ago
That would be nothing in Ontario.
11
u/N3verGonnaG1veYouUp 12h ago
I was driving the 401 a couple weeks ago and its insane how easy it is to go 140 there, and still be slower than most
3
u/thatguyclayton 12h ago
TBF it's mostly straight and rated for higher speeds, 100 was just some arbitrary number they slapped on
2
1
1
u/quellesaveurorawnge 11h ago
Depends where you are on the 401. Outside of Toronto, yes, it is usually going pretty fast, and the limit in some segments is actually 110 km/h. Within Toronto, it is not usually going that fast.
1
u/whogivesashirtdotca 10h ago
Anywhere between Scarborough and Oshawa, there's always an idiot or three who thinks 145 is the suggested minimum.
1
u/blusteryflatus 11h ago
I live in Toronto but I'm originally from Montreal. I drive on the 401 east of Toronto daily and it's insane how few OPP I see. 130-140 is typical cruising speed in the left lane and also the second last left lane if traffic is light enough. SQ would have an absolute feild day fishing on the 401.
1
u/FreedomCanadian 7h ago
Some time ago, SQ was on strike and not giving speeding tickets unless youwere going outrageously fast.
That summer, I eventually got comfortable with "driving along with the traffic" around 130 kph. And then I went on a trip to southern Ontario. The first part of the 401 was ok, but approaching Toronto, OMG. Here I was stressed out at 130 in the middle lane, getting passed on both sides.
Nowadays I am older and wiser. It doesn't bother me anymore. I just go whatever speed I go, stay in the slow lane and let the road warriors fight it out.
For what it's worth, I visited Toronto last year and the day I crossed the city on the way back I saw over 40 cars crashed or broken down on the side of 401, more than I see in a year of driving in Montreal. I don't think the two things are unrelated.

u/quellesaveurorawnge 12h ago
If you're doing 50 km/h over the speed limit in Ontario, your car gets impounded automatically. When they implemented that maybe 10-15 years ago, there were so many cars getting impounded on the Allen Expressway in Toronto, which also has a speed limit of 70.
0
u/incognito-idiott 11h ago
False. I got hit with a 52 over and was just given a summons. It’s actually at the officers discretion (I had never had a speeding violation prior in the however many years I’ve been driving). Then again, this was also about 8-10 years ago
1
u/quellesaveurorawnge 11h ago edited 11h ago
You got very lucky and/or the cop didn't want to have to deal with the paperwork. The Highway Traffic Act considers driving this fast stunt driving, and technically, the law says that the consequence is the immediate suspension of license for 30 days and impounding the car for 14 days. You don't even get to drive home. I personally don't want to test this. (I should note that I think the suspension of the driver's license was only added in 2021.)
Part of the stunt driving act says:
"7. Driving a motor vehicle at a rate of speed that is 40 kilometres per hour or more over the speed limit, if the speed limit is less than 80 kilometres per hour.
7.0.1 Driving a motor vehicle at a rate of speed that is 50 kilometres per hour or more over the speed limit, if the speed limit is 80 kilometres per hour or more.
7.1 Driving a motor vehicle at a rate of speed that is 150 kilometres per hour or more."
ETA: Maybe it is also because it was within the margin of error for the speed radar, and thus could be contested that it was more than 50 km/h above the limit.

1
u/Hotboxia 12h ago
Demidov, 20, also paid a ticket earlier this year for doing 145 km/h while he was on a highway in Trois-Rivières on Feb. 10. The limit on that highway was 100 km/h.

u/whogivesashirtdotca 10h ago
I thought so, too, but I went to the practice facility just after Demi arrived. Lane was driving him then, too. He peeled out of the parking lot way faster than I was expecting.

u/Numerous_Style_3899 12h ago
Lane doesn't speed, he just stops and starts constantly, pulls random U-turns, and reverses down 1-ways.

I knew this was going to happen when I saw him buying the RS6 last year. Awesome car that can be a genuine family car for petrol heads, but 621hp cars and 19/20 year olds don’t mix very well.
And yes, I know the post is a joke using a photo from last year, but the context is real.

According to Caufield’s article in The Players Tribune last year, Slaf totaled his car by crashing in his garage door and was taking rides with Demi most of the year.
It would’ve been funny if he was also being driven around by Hutson now, but I guess he got a new car.

So it is actually a real story, but Ivan hasn't actually lost his license yet, but is at risk to lose it because he cumulated too many points of inaptitude so his lawyer went to deal with it in court last week: https://www.tvanouvelles.ca/2026/10/14/adepte-de-vitesse-demidov-risque-de-perdre-son-permis

u/Pooh_Lightning 13h ago
Holy shit. What does it take to LOSE your license for speeding?
6
u/quellesaveurorawnge 12h ago
He has 2 instances of speeding but as others have said, he is on a probationary license. He hasn't lost it yet but he was about to until his lawyer went to court: https://www.tvanouvelles.ca/2026/10/14/adepte-de-vitesse-demidov-risque-de-perdre-son-permis
5
u/Bytrsweet 12h ago
If he has a probationary license, he would only have 4 demerite points. So getting caught 45 over the limit would be enough.
1
u/maynardss 13h ago
Probably 1 ticket if you have probationary license, which I believe he does or did have.

6
u/Old_General_6741 13h ago
Demi lost his licence!? This isn’t Russia bud. You can’t pay the Quebec police off.
15
u/Pristine-Bison7341 12h ago
I’m surprised he even got the tickets, cops must have been Nordiques fans.
1
u/vanya9391 12h ago
Gotta love Quebec cop integrity. Nobody's perfect, but I love that they don't give a shit about giving him those tickets.
1
u/FreedomCanadian 7h ago
Of course, for all we know he could have been caught speeding 10 times and only got 2 tickets.

It must be pretty bad if you’re considered a dangerous driver “in Montreal!” 🤣🤣🤣
Seriously, I lived there for grad school and still drive often for games and appointments. A lot more ppl should be losing their driving privileges there lol
1
u/dariganhissi 11h ago
maybe it's bc i also follow figure skating and have heard about alina zagitova's traffic violations but as bad as this is, i am mostly unphased. hopefully this is the reality check he needs to be a safer driver unlike his compatriot lmao.

Newer vehicles have driver-programmable speed limiters, in addition to cruise control. Ivan should consider using these driver-assistance technologies. That way, he doesn't get lit up doing 111 in a 70 zone.
