A massive crowd at Kamakhya Gate for the Ambubachi Mela is held annually to mark the annual menstrual cycle of Maa Kamakhya at Nilachal Hill.

Ambubachi Mela is of great significance as it celebrates womanhood and fertility. Hundreds of thousands of pilgrims visit the Kamakhya Mandir situated atop the Nilachal Hills in Guwahati.
