Am I the only one....?

I hate it, when people say this. Simply hate it. What do You mean, are you the only one? Of course not. Especially when the opinion is not even controversial.. I just saw a post titled something like " Am I the only one who has never wanted to have kids?" Girl, have You never talked to anyone in Your life?

I hate it so much. I know it's like a linguistic exaggeration for effect but it bothers the fuck out of me

It’s hyperbolic. Usually when people say things like this they are just looking to feel supported or trying to start a conversation

Edit: I’m not saying I agree with people who say this. It’s an insane over dramatization. I was just explaining.

Probably in the same way that it drives me insane when people add an "s" to the end of words that do not have them and do not need them.

"Anyways" makes no sense lol

No worries. There are a lot of words that have changed in some way or another. None of them are invalid, really, because language changes constantly.

I'll die on the hill that "could of" is a dire travesty that should be nuked from orbit, though lol

Am I the only one who feels like nothing I say matters because most of the time no one even engages or if they do it turns into me getting excited just to be ghosted?
