Game Discussion Mafia: The Old Country - what a cheap way to end the game. Spoiler
Finally finished Mafia: The Old Country, and that ending pissed me off to no end. It is such a cheap way to finish a game imo, Enzo is supposed to be like a top ranking mafioso at this point, yet he gets so easily blindsided?
I feel like companies saw Rockstar killing off their main protagonists and decided this was a good way to go, but you can't compare these deaths at all. Enzo literally kills Don Torrisi. He spares Cesare's life just a little while before, and then he gets stabbed by him, cheaply, after he goes in for a hug?? How did he not see that coming? Why would he believe he had a change of heart when he was about to kill him like 30 mins prior?!
Also, Cesare was a good guy (well.. not really good, but a good ally to Enzo) up until the last like 2 chapters and suddenly he is super jealous of Enzo?? Please c'mon this is so lazy and is literally just a change of character so they can use him to kill Enzo. He never shows jealousy before this and it really feels like it came out of nowhere.
Overall I just feel like it was incredibly lazy, I was loving the game up until the end. I also don't understand why Enzo's decision was to betray Torrisi either tbh, I feel like they could have spoken about it and not just try to run away together.
The story in the last like 2 chapters is just so stupid, I don't understand why they chose this route.
Maybe I'm pissing the point entirely since yeah it's a mafia game, shit is meant to happen. But an ending like this where no one wins, is just silly in my opinion and cheapens the game. Sometimes gamers actually want to see the main protagonist win and prosper.
If you played this game, and enjoyed it, and you think I am wrong, please tell me because I would really like to understand better!
