Need gift suggestions What's a gift that landed because it matched something small they said once?

My sister mentioned offhand in March that her neck kills her in the tub. I forgot about it completely, then remembered a week before her birthday and got her a bathtub pillow, Monsuri's, $44.90, the kind that suctions to the tub. The price was the part I second-guessed.

She didn't say much at first. Two weeks later she texted me that she'd stopped dreading Sunday nights. Not a big gift, but it told her I'd been listening.

So what did someone mention once that you filed away for months? And did it go over the way you pictured?

Need gift suggestions Personalized advent calendar ideas

Post image
15 Upvotes

Hey Reddit!

I (33M) need your help with a special project.

I’m putting together an advent calendar for my fiancé (32M) for December. I make him a different one every year, however this year’s calendar I’m looking to fill it with high quality/luxury personalized items for him. Alternatively, the items could also be a nod to our upcoming wedding next year.

I’ve already collected a couple small items from his favourite brands and a local chocolate maker, but am struggling to think of what else could fit in the little bags (18 left). ANY suggestions are greatly appreciated!!

I’m pretty excited for him to see this advent calendar! I made it using an old wooden cassette organizer. I’ll be writing the numbers on tags for each day (only one is attached in the photo).

Thanks in advance!

Need gift suggestions-BF Gift ideas for a boyfriend that’s turning 30?

My boyfriend is turning 30 next month, and for such a milestone birthday, I really want to get him something thoughtful. I’m working with a budget of up to $200 and here are some facts about him:

•Hjs biggest goal is to one day own his own business. He has no idea what type of business he wants to own (“maybe something in tech” is the closest that I’ve gotten to a concrete answer). Despite these aspirations, he doesn’t really use any tech currently beyond his cell phone, and he doesn’t know how to code. He currently works as an analyst at a bank and has an accounting degree and an MBA

•He loves classic rock and he plays guitar, but I generally avoid buying guitar stuff just because I don’t know enough about the very specialized guitar world to get him an appropriate gift

•He generally likes football, hockey, and basketball and I know his favorite teams

•He likes to go for runs, but he doesn’t like running enough to invest in high quality running stuff

•He watches a lot of movies and his favorite genres are romance and classic horror movies

•He occasionally plays video games. He said that he’d be interested in playing the new Grand Theft Auto game, but I don’t think a new play station is in my budget. I miiighhttt be able to get him a Switch, but I don’t know if the Switch has any games that he’d be interested in playing

•He lives in a pretty cold state, but when I buy him cold weather stuff, it’s pretty hit or miss on whether or not he actually wears it. I got him a Lululemon hoodie last year that he loves, but I’ve also gotten him Nike socks and beanies with his favorite sports logos and he doesn’t wear those

•Other random interests of his include Taylor Swift, sushi and High School Musical

•He does not read, does not do outdoorsy things, does not cook, isn’t really into art, and doesn’t travel (except to come visit me). He’s also currently living with his parents.

What’s the most unique or memorable gift you’ve ever received?

I'm looking for some xmas gift inspiration and would love to hear about the best gifts you've ever received (or given)!

It could be personalized or not, something beautiful, practical, unusual, or even something that solved a problem you didn't know you had.

I'm especially interested in gifts that made you think "Wow, this is actually perfect!" — something that felt special, thoughtful, or genuinely useful.

What was the gift, and what made it so memorable?

I'd love to hear your stories and discover some unusual ideas!

Gift suggestion A message of hope for anyone struggling in silence right now🕯️🖤"

Hey everyone, I wanted to share a piece I hand-crafted at my desk.

I wanted to escape standard modern printing and create a quiet, physical sanctuary for the things we carry in silence. It arrives looking like a completely blank piece of heavy, textured cardstock locked inside a matte black envelope and stamped with a gold wax seal.

To awaken the handwriting, the recipient takes a pre-saturated velvet activation tool and glides it smoothly across the surface. Through a specific chemical handshake embedded deep within the paper pores, the cursive text gently blooms onto the page right before their eyes—no heat or flames required, just friction and old-world chemistry.

I wanted to show a quick look at how beautifully the charcoal gradient turns out.

For anyone who needs to hear it today, here is the text I inked:

'Sometimes, the most important words are the hardest ones to say out loud. I wanted to send you something real to remind you that you are never alone, no matter how quiet the world gets. Open this whenever you need a little bit of hope, and remember that I am always standing right here by your side.'

Let me know what you guys think of the aesthetic! 📜✨"

Hey everyone with Christmas coming up I know getting gifts for men can be challenging. But one thing that every guy loves is something made from real full grain leather. I’ve been doing leather work for a while now and just started up a website with some less customizable items but love doing custom work for my clients. I am a one man shop and everything is made I’m my state of the art basement. My website link is attached and I hope I can make something special for your family members.

Need gift suggestions-female friend Gift Ideas for a Friend's 18th Birthday

Hi there, I need some ideas for what to get a friend for her 18th birthday next week. I've only known her for a year through my apprenticeship (graphic design).

I've already had a pillow printed—it's meant to be a bit humorous—and I don't want it to be my only gift.

She figure skates in the winter, crochets, and is otherwise a pretty typical girl, if you can say that. You know, into pink and stuff.

I don’t really have a lot of money, but another friend is also looking for a gift, so we could split the cost.

I really hope to find a few ideas here. Thanks in advance.

Gift suggestion A little gift just because can make someone's whole day

Birthdays and holidays aren't the only good reasons to give someone a gift.

Sometimes it's nice to surprise a friend, coworker, or family member with something small just because they crossed your mind.

A favorite coffee, a book they've been wanting, a scented candle, a cozy blanket, or even their favorite snacks. Nothing fancy, just something that says, "Hey, thought you might like this."

And that's what makes gift shopping fun. Finding those little things that remind you of someone.

What's a small gift you'd love to surprise someone with?

Need gift suggestions-brother Fun 3D printed gift ideas for younger sibling?

Thumbnail

My young brother will be turning 11 next Sunday. For the past month he has been talking a lot about these 3D printed toys, like almost every evening before bed, he'd randomly drop some fun facts about how 3D printing works or show me some cool designs... So yeah i firmly believed this is what he'd want for his birthday 😂 I wanna get him some cool 3D things instead of video games like usual

But I don't own a 3D printer myself so have been looking into a few options out after searching for a while. I'm just wondering if 3D items actually hold up well as a gift for a kid that age. Do they tend to feel a bit fragile in hand? Is there anything i should keep in mind while buying this?

Would really appreciate any advice or your take on this! Thanks a lot

Need gift suggestions-husband Anniversary/birthday gift ideas

My husband and I have been together for about 8 years, and I am plain out of ideas. This month is his birthday and our anniversary, and then Christmas is coming up. I desperately need advice on things a man coming into his 30s would love/want/need. We’re going to a concert but he picked that out/planned it himself, I’d like to do something for him.
Things he loves/I’ve gotten him in the past:

Pokémon cards: I plan to get him tons of these and do everytime. What are the best ones to get for a bigger gift/birthday item? He likes opening them with friends.
-Gaming: I already got him a gaming chair, he has upgraded his controller and headphones recently. He’s been very into the phantasma game.
-knives: he loves Damascus knives, I’ve gotten him one in the past but that’s an option. I don’t really know what I’m looking at/for.
Vintage things and cars: he loves old trucks, and has one. He wants truck parts but he’s getting that for himself. Maybe something for the truck? Also has an obsession with vintage Marlboro, he got himself a backpack one year and I got him a matching jacket for Christmas.
-Being cozy: he’s mentioned wanting a matching set of pajamas, I have gotten him a robe and cozy pants. Any suggestions for men’s pjs? He is reallyyy picky about texture.
-watches and wallets: done, several times, inscribed and all.
-He loves hats and shoes
-Doesn’t really cook but did mention wanting to mix drinks at one point, we had an old mixology set but I could upgrade that? Ideas?
-I avoid buying him clothes, he is very very picky and wants to get his own clothes usually. I know his style but the texture/fit has to be perfect and he ends up not liking/returning my picks.
-Not really outdoorsy, he is starting to get back into working out but I am leery about workout items as gifts.
-He used to be in the marines. He talks about it a lot and misses his buddies. I’ve thought about doing something for him to display his
things (pins, photos, etc.)
-Works outdoors, I’ve gotten him items before like an electric lunchbox/jacket but he doesn’t really use them.
That’s all I can think of for now… if you have any of these things as an interest/hobby, what would you love to get as a gift? We had a big move recently and I really want it to be special for him. Thanks so much!

Fun matching Christmas PJs tradition

We are hosting grandparents for Christmas. I’m thinking of doing matching PJs as a gift because our kids would think it’s funny and I think it would make everyone feel close. How does your family do it?

They are visiting from December 22-29. I would hope we get more than just one wear out of the PJs. I also like to wash new clothes before we wear them. Do we unwrap them early (the 22nd?), check they fit, wash them, and wear them for multiple nights? Or are they given as a surprise on Christmas Eve?

Also, what materials are they best - flannel, cotton, blend with synthetics? Any brands you recommend?

Need gift suggestions help with last minute gift for fiancee's friend, need by tomorrow

Alright, alright, I'll get it out of the way: this is extremely last minute. That has quite honestly not been for lack of trying on my part. But I digress

So me and my fiancee are going about 2h outside our hometown (we're in a rural state so I'm guessing pretty much out in the middle of nowhere) to see fiancee's best friend from high school. She hasn't seen them in probably 10 years and is getting a chance to now that my fiancee has moved back home. This person sent us an invitation in the mail and everything. It's not a fancy party by any means, there were MLP and FNAF stickers on the invitation (we're all in our 20s and it's cute/nostalgic).

I barely know them, we've hung out maybe once before with a different mutual friend.

I have absolutely no idea what to bring. I keep asking my fiancee, but she's a very anxious person, and I can tell the whole social pressure from the party is stressing her out, and my questions are making it worse.

The party is on Friday but her friend is coming to pick us up at around 7pm Thursday (tomorrow as of writing this).

I know they crochet/love fiber arts, bugs, I think maybe also reptiles? Me & fiancee are extremely broke due to disability and not being approved for SSI as of right now, so I'm looking for suggestions something homemade or very cheap (under $25). I'm not as crafty as my fiancee or her friend because I'm more of a computer guy, but I was considering like, origami or baked goods or something. The friend sent my fiancee this cool crocheted bug shadow box for the holidays last year, so I know they'd enjoy/appreciate something homemade just fine.

Fiancee has already texted about the whole situation to the bestie, and BFF has been like "omg I don't care it's totally ok I'm just excited to see you after 10 years" but I really don't want to show up empty-handed. Like I'd even get candy or something but I don't know what they like.

IDK, just looking for suggestions, I kinda feel screwed.
