Hi all, I just joined the subreddit today.

One thing I have been struggling with for a long time is facing constant low self-esteem due to my sexuality. I mean, you get it right? Living in a country as a young gay man where acting lovey-dovey between the same gender is frowned upon, I always feel like there's no chance for me to ever experience gay love. I also face insecurity with my looks, like I am frequently told I look older for peeps my age. (I am 20 this year.) Hence this explains my fear to make a move to find someone to even hook up, let alone date.

I don't know quite surely what it is I want here, but I just feel like venting my thoughts.

After years of increasingly prevalent fake profiles and catfish scammers, this app now gives users an ultimatum: accept the new Terms Of Service or delete your account, but there’s no way to even see the Terms Of Service. They’re just counting on users to click Accept or leave now.

Not looking for grand gestures, just curious about the little things that made you think "okay, I really like this person."

For me it's stuff like remembering a random detail I mentioned once, or texting to check in on something stressful I had going on that day.

Looking for some perspective from you all folks. I'm struggling with the usual ways of meeting guys:
- Apps: I find them a bit weird, and I honestly can't tell if I'd like someone from a profile and a few messages.
- Bars/pubs: I don't drink, so it's not really my scene.
- The gym: This is where I'd love to meet someone, but my gaydar is terrible and I'd hate to make someone uncomfortable by hitting on a guy who isn't interested (or isn't gay).

So basically my question is this: how do you deal with this? Specifically:
- Has anyone actually met a partner or dates at the gym? Any success stories?
- If you've approached someone there, how did you do it without being creepy?
- Is it just a bad idea overall, and what do you do instead?

Also open to other ideas for meeting people that aren't apps or bars (sports leagues, hobby groups, etc.).
