Tidy-up game with use-based progression and sorting Animal Cubes

Hey everyone!

I want to share a game where you find yourself in a dream and have to put all the Animal Cubes back in their places - Animal Cubes: Tidy Up Dreams

There will be 120 animal species, 6344 cubes in total, and only one shelf per species.

I’d especially like to highlight the progression system. I decided to drop earning money for placing items. Instead, each ability has its own requirements - it levels up only through actions related to that ability.

For example:

  • while you move, you level up Movement Speed, and after a certain number of steps your level increases;
  • to level up Inventory, you need to place items correctly; perks will have their own separate requirements.

After playing similar games and reading player feedback, I wanted to make this one more comfortable:

  1. You can make a mistake and put an item on the wrong shelf. But there will be red ghost hints, and items won’t get a bounce on an incorrect shelf.
  2. Inventory progression will include an Auto-Sort ability - once your inventory gets too large, placing items should feel much easier.
  3. Camera settings: you can turn off effects like camera sway, or increase FOV to feel more comfortable.

No AI is used in the game itself - all assets and content are handmade. I only plan to use AI for translating text into different languages.

I’ve started working on the cave entrances that spawn randomly across the map. I’ll need to see whether the number of spawned entrances ends up being too high.

Making my first game: a comedy tactics game set in a 1991 post-Soviet

Hey all. This is my first game. It's a turn-based tactics game inspired by Fire Emblem, set in a post-Soviet courtyard like the one I grew up in, summer 1991. It's a comedy: nunchucks made from a kitchen stool, half a brick, grannies on the bench who see everything.

The video is the first map going from grey boxes to where it is now. Made in Godot 4.

Would really appreciate your thoughts!
