Who TF greenlit this cover art!?
They did our boy dirty with this gangly, Andrew Tate-looking art. That version of Gambit ain’t taking Rogue home. He’s not even taking a Brood home lookin like that.

Hi! Please enjoy these shots of my partner and I as Gambit and Rogue for NYCC! :)
From Arctic Monkeys, is “Do I Wanna Know?” a good reflection on Gambit and his stories? My recent exposure to Rivals lets me know there’s a bit of a love triangle with Magneto and Rogue. So, I just wondered. Does it fit Cajun vibes?

Even with the Sinister work, seems pretty low. Speed should be a 3 maybe 4. Energy projection a 5. Strength could arguably be a 3. No issue with Intelligence or fighting skills.

Simple question. But finally got round to watching X-Men 97, and he blows up at least one very large object in that. Which reminded me that I can't remember him blowing up anything particularly large in the comics in a long time.
I ask, as his power set is much more varied than the reductive version of just throwing explosive playing cards (albeit, he does indeed throw a lot of cards).

They look so cute here!🥹 And I love the design of Remy’s suit in the cover art.❤️🔥

Anyone else read it? My shop put this cover aside for me. The issue is fairly Gambit heavy. I'd say he competes for 2nd billing in terms of usage in it with Nightcrawler taking most of the dialogue. I'm just stoked to see Hickman writing Remy. Gambit comes off fairly menacing and cold-hearted. Great set up and very Hickmany 🤣.

Anyone know how the idea for the Thieves Guild came about? I know the organization originated in Mackie and Weeks’ Gambit miniseries from 1993, but I’m struggling to find good information about why they went that direction with the character. Of course, Gambit has been depicted as a thief since his earliest appearances, but the decision to make him part of this organized criminal empire instead of a private actor just looking to make ends meet always intrigued me. If y’all have any recommended readings or some interviews that could point me in the right direction, I’d really appreciate it!

Kinda surprised I had to scroll so much to find anything about a current Gambit book. There are literally 4 books on the shelves centered around him. That's special. What's not too special to me is Gambit Gone #1. Now... I don't dislike it but really can't say that I liked it either. The pacing and scattered approach reminded me a lot of the recent Age of Apocalypse series, which makes sense because it's a spin-off of sorts.
I was genuinely concerned when I saw Steve Orlando was attached as the writer and to be honest... It wasn't horrible? But imo it's not good either. I came away with some topics I'd like to point out
1#: I've been reading Gambit for a long time. The majority of my and his life. I've never struggled so much to follow both him and Rogue's dialogue. Either version in this book. And that includes writers that mix in Creole and French words. It's just how the accents were paced. I wasn't sure if it was organic or forced.
2#: they are really trying to make Vig a thing in Gambit's lore. Besides the fact that it's weird that Gambit now has a "Vig" and a "Pig" (which Disney/Marvel copyrighted, alongside "Bella Donna"several years ago when there were rumors of them doing some sort of D+ series) in his personal rogue's gallery, it tells me the writers haven't really done a deep dive into Gambit's background or they just have questionable taste.
3#: without giving any spoilers... I'm pretty sure 616 Gambit didn't know the reason we're given here as to why he agreed to switch his AoA counterpart. Don't get me wrong, it's a great story beat, but... they didn't talk about that before they swapped places and from what I can tell, Gambit doesn't have a clear way back, or a way to get his AoA self back willingly. So I have to question character motivation here.
4#: when did Gambit become the leader of the thieves guild again? This is not a spoiler. It's not a big reveal or change in status quo because they removed that part of Gambit's status, off panel, in a book that was non X-Men related special showcase (Marvel voices?). It was literally one sentence and that was it. He was no longer the King Of Thieves or the head of the combined guild, but here, again, one throw away line "you run the guild"? If we're going to have this much Gambit can we keep it cohesive? Monet also does something that most of us Gambit nerds know that she can't do to him. Not easily. That looked easy, especially for someone that doesn't specialize in that area of ability, per se.
5#: the last thing I wanted to point out were AoA Gambit's intentions with 616 Rogue... I'm kinda shocked they intimated that they were doing this. No spoilers but, wow. However, I did like Rogue's stance on the situation and her opinion of her husband. Kudo. 🤬ing Kudos!
Anyone else read? Art was pretty dope and again... Didn't hate it, just not loving it yet. I'm hoping Steve goes somewhere with this because it can be interesting (like AoA Krakoa) if they make it, make more sense narratively. 🙏🏾

Since we are getting more Marvel themed sets across the next couple of years (Because of infinity stone reasons), AND since X-Men is one of, if not the most popular team in Marvel history, It is likely going to be next. So my question is, what color(s) do you think Gambit will be?
{W} White: Peace, law, structure, selflessness, equality
Primary Key Terms: Defender, double strike, first strike, flying, indestructible, lifelink, vigilance
{U} Blue: Knowledge, deceit, caution, deliberation, perfection
Primary Key Terms: Counter, flash, flying, hexproof, scry
{B} Black: Power, self-interest, death, sacrifice, uninhibitedness
Primary Key Terms: Deathtouch, menace
{R} Red: Freedom, emotion, action, impulse, destruction
Primary Key Terms: Double strike, first strike, haste
{G} Green: Nature, wildlife, connection, spirituality, tradition
Primary Key Terms: Fight, reach, trample
Technically, Colorless is also an option, but seeing as though Gambit is not an Eldrazi or a Robot, I think it's safe to cross off being mono-colorless.
