Having walked through Shop Street / Quay Street this morning and seen the absolute state of the place in the absence of any council staff working, only appropriate to acknowledge the sterling work the cleaning crews do every day. Under appreciated work.

I for one blame the children.

Only difference from yesterday to today is the schools are closed, hardly a car on the road.

The ring road wont make much difference if everyone is heading into the city dropping of kids.

I wonder if they could invent some kind of super car that can take more than two kids at a time and drop them all off at once?

One little thing that is really annoying me with playgrounds lately is the fact that families never close and lock the gates when they're leaving. It's one thing if it was the kids doing it but no, the parents don't seem to give a crap either. I'm a parent to an autistic child who is an extreme flight risk, he can be right beside you one second and in full flight the next and is incredibly fast too so he can make it towards an open gate in an instant. It's really not that hard to close a gate after you and be a bit more considerate for other users. What would be even better would be self closing/latching gates but then that would make entering more difficult for buggy/stroller/wheelchair users so the easiest option is to just close the gates when you're done!

Hey guys, I'm a 21 F and I'm planning to join the university of galway for masters in biomedical science. I'm planning on choosing the 2 year course since it's shown that internships take place around the second year. I just wanted to inquire how the internship process takes place and is the university of galway worth it for science and research programmes?

Anybody else kid or them sick after attending monkey business on Saturday, the whole family is sick just wanted to see if anybody is unfortunately sick like us. Bad case of stomach bug

It is no longer possible to travel from Connemara to Merlin Park Hospital before 9AM on weekdays on public transit!  

I am making that commute twice a week and the longer I sit on N59 the more I think of the bivy sack sitting in my closet. 

I know I’m not alone! Any tips, particularly around Merlin Woods / Ballyloughane / Deadman’s, or suggestions about where not to go, would be very welcome :)

Or if you’re within a mile of Merlin and have a bit of empty grass, DM me! Happy to pay a bit for a secure spot to pitch up for a night or two a week.

I kinda know what people will tell me but I would still like to confirm it. I'm 30. I have no completed studies that would help me get a job. Is the idea of taking a one month trip to search for a job there so I can stay indefinitely plausible? If so, any tips on how should I proceed?

I know the housing situation is bad (not any better here in Spain), but what I'm most interested in knowing I guess it's if there is job offer for people like me over there.

I'm moving to Galway in January for work at 22 and I just wanted to see what I could get involved with up there as it'd just be me there.

I'm interested in Gaa football and Running but I'm open to trying new things and just wanted to see what would be possible in the January.

I'm also curious about getting involved in volunteering. I did coaching local teams in the past and I was involved with Flac Society in college and would like to continue with volunteering in that and other things as well.

Open to any advice and just wanted to see what people recommend.

I’m organising a quiz for a local sports team in early November. Looking for a local comedian to host - ask the questions on the night. Reckon it would make a difference and add some craic.
