Oooo helloooo!
Here's a random one. Datafreak that I am, I've been tracking my listen numbers and, well, it looks like ~500 plays have vanished from my play counts across all my HA posts.
Do any of you know why that might be...?
Very strange....
Thankings!

Has anyone heard about this? Someone asked me if I was familiar with it and something about it kind of seems off - like it was propped up with AI.

They claimed you they been around since 2025 and that they have an extensive catalog of creators, but I can't seem to find anything about them.

Spooky season here🎃, and the Backstage Challenge is here to give you Thrills and Chills😱 And I don't even have to climb the Empire State Building to give you my version of Abba's monster song:

🎵🐵 KING KONG SONG 🎵🐵

This song was written by Andersson/Ulvaeus for Abba's 2nd LP "Waterloo" in 1974, and I had a blast recording, adding my own "Kong bass voice" and some growls and screams😅

I consider myself a bit of an Abba expert Not only because I am Swedish😅. You can find quite a few more Abba songs (and others) HERE,

Apologies for taking a bit longer than usual to crawl out of the crypt for this one, GWAB - but look, it's already almost time for the best holiday of the year! Return of the dawn of the revenge of the son of bride of Halloween. Bring us your best thrills and/or chills for October's GWAB Scareoke Challenge!

If you haven't heard of GWAB Karaoke Challenges before...

This is a themed challenge where we offer a song prompt during each month. Maybe it's fun pretending to be someone else, but mostly it's just about having fun, period. Capital-S Singers or plain everyday "singer"s are equally welcome. If you enjoy doing it, we'll enjoy hearing it. Last month was about paying homage to the dearly departed, so now it only seems fair to start raising the dead. If anyone needs any encouragement, it's one of the classics:

🧛 🎃 Trick or treat! 💀 🕯️

Let's hear which Halloween^ish songs you like to sink your teeth into. (It doesn't have to be strictly tied to the holiday - you can sing about disguises, masks, parties, candy or anything somewhat related, you name it). Fun or silly or scary or spooooooky, it's all good stuff. Just pick a tune and share what you can do.

How to Play

Comment on this post requesting to reserve a song that fits this month's theme. You can reserve up to two songs per username. Reservations will be published below as a table on a first-come-first-serve basis. The songs reserved for you will be listed here, and to avoid a dozen versions of the same one from populating the karaoke bar, we only allow one version of a song per language per solo singer. So get your songs/versions reserved ASAP.

Collaborations are welcome and encouraged! Collaborations do not count against the two-song limit.

When reserving your song, PLEASE include the Title, Original Artist, and Songwriter credit.

If you reserve a song and realize you can't do it, let me know ASAP so it can be freed up for someone else.

How to submit

Comment on your initial reservation comment on this post with one of the two following links:

A) a direct link to your submission using whatever audio hosting site you frequent (e.g. Soundgasm, etc.) Use this option if you don't wish to link to a post you made on either your profile or other subreddit.

B) a link to your submission that you posted to your profile, r/GWABackstage, or other subreddit. PLEASE: if you do this, please link THIS post to yours to help promote this challenge and the fellow singers who submitted.

Deadline

This one will close on Sunday, November 1st. While it's not a strict deadline, a "That's a Wrap" Post should be posted soon^ish afterward and the focus will shift to the next month's theme. This means we will no longer update the chart, so if you wish to have your work shared via that post, make sure to get yours in on time.

Do you have an idea to suggest for future months? Feel free to let us know right HERE.

Go nuts and break a leg, everybody! 🧟

Reservations and submissions

Hey fellow backstagers,

Creep. One of those songs that makes you think, “Oh, I could sing that.” And then you actually try. 😂

I've wanted to cover it for years but never had the nerve. Until now. Not aiming for perfection. Just singing a song I've always loved, because I finally felt like it.

Just a heads-up: this is a stripped-down, piano-based version of the song.  🙂

What the hell am I doing here

Backing track by KaraoKeysPH on YT (slightly sped up by me)

thanks for the kind words on my last cover. here's another one :)

Hi all Backstagers!

The last month, we paid tribute to all the great artists that have left us, but live on through their music. ❤🎵 Big thanks to everyone who posted music, upvoted, commented or listened.💙

In total, we had an impressive 16(!) songs submitted. I was so glad to listen to all your music, hoping to hear more from you soon.💙 🎵

Wrapping up:

This has always been my favorite Johnny Cash song, and it was fun to actually record it after signing it live for my family round Christmas each here with my Uncle playing guitar along with me.

Hope y'all Enjoy the cover

Hey I'm so curious what everyone is doing for their set up. Are we using a walk in closet or a mic in front of a desk? Are there people here who have full on recording booths set up? Tell me what it all looks like for you! I'd love to know dets like mic type, what program you use.

And then like even recording style, do you work all the magic at once, or go back and record sound effects to better control their volume? Any tips for editing? --I generally like to clap at a bad take to make it easier to find and edit out, I actually have a dog clicker nearby just for that purpose.

Personally, I use a blue yeti, just on the floor inside a closet and with my laptop as far away as my cord will let me. I'm debating getting like a little like play kid couch to have like, a collapsible studio, but lol then again maybe it would be better to get a nicer mic.

Would love to hear from y'all!

So the last time I posted on here was when I sang Make It Shine for GWA Karaoke last year before my voice began to change (and life got busy, so I didn't have time either). I'm still adjusting to my voice drop and the loss of my upper register, but I thought it was cool to compare how my voice sounds now versus what it sounded like then.

You can listen to my re-recording here!

As I'm readjusting, hopefully I'll be able to join back in on the fun of karaoke again soon :)

Hi all, I've been dying to sing this song for so long but the challenge never aligned. Now, it finally has and I get to do one of my favourite things - sing an Elvis song and try to mimic his style. 😁 And because it's one of those songs where he talks a bit in the middle, you also get a questionable Elvis impression thrown in. 😂

I'd never heard the song till I saw the episode of Black Mirror that used it as an outro song and since then I've loved it! Hope you enjoy listening to it.

Elvis - Mama Liked The Roses

Hey all. Like with Frank Sinatra, I don't really have any special attachment to Chris Cornell (I've only really heard Black Hole Sun and it's not my favorite), but this song is from Casino Royale the first Daniel Craig Bond film and I've been watching them with my dad recently and this song has become one of my favorite Bond songs and just song in general.

It has a pretty different style compared to the other songs from the franchise but the combination of rock and orchestra blend well together and the vocals are also fantastic and really make this song what it is. Obviously I can't really compare to Chris' performance but I hope it's still enjoyable and I'm glad I get the chance to sing one of my favorites for you guys.

Helloooooo Backstagers,

Here's another one for the September Karaoke challenge. It's a song I deeply love, mainly because there's so much emotion packed into it.

So, here's my attempt at "At Last" by Etta James, written by Mack Gordon and Harry Warren

I like writing as well as doing audios but improved nun cleansing you with her insides sounds like it would be good and fun for me to create. unless you know this causes a lot of back. i truly wouldnt want to upset anyone but playing the devoted, honest, determined woman sounds fun.

Is this a bad idea? is there any other ideas i should try for improve instead?

Ever since watching Epic the Musical the first time, I knew I'd want to cover Thunder Bringer, and I had a blast doing it! Big, big, BIG thanks to the one and only /u/rhymingvers for laying down an amazing feature as Penelope, this cover wouldn't be what it is without your dulcet tones!

I hope you all enjoy, Folsom Prison Blues for this months Karaoke coming soon!

I saw this questionnaire by u/BlueMonday35 and thought it looked really fun! I loved having the chance to ramble on hahaha. I'm honestly thinking of pulling together a questionnaire myself but, well, anime based. I wanna know who else on here is into that and what everyone's tastes are.

Many great artist have left us, not least in the last years. In this month's Backstage challenge we pay hommage to them. ❤This might be the best song written by the oustanding songwriter and singer Brian Wilson, that died about a year ago:

🎵 GOD ONLY KNOWS🎵

The song was written and recorded for the fantastic album "Pet Sounds", released 60 years ago. The Beach Boys best album in my opinion. Sadly, all three of the Wilson brothers in the group have now passed away, but the music lives on.

I did some multi-tracking here to compensate for only being one voice, hope you'll enjoy. 💙 (karaoke background from "Karafun".

As a bonus, there is at least one song 😊that is just as good in the Beach Boys musical world: Good Vibrations.

My other songs can be found in this LINK.

Hi hi, loves!🩵

Brought to you once again from the echos of an office and KaraoKeysPH YouTube video🩵 Always so fun to record for these challenges! Link to the challenge post: https://www.reddit.com/r/GWABackstage/s/T4OuRvFgPz

Some A's to some Q's

Started to edit this one, add effects, double my voice to kinda match ozzy but decided to leave it alone (just basement reverb) so here it is one take no cuts. I've had some practice on this one in my personal audio studio (my car) lol. Let me know what you think and hope you enjoy.

Time After Time - Ozzy.

Please check out this month's karaoke challenge if you'd like to give it a shot.

Wanted to share this one that I did quite a while ago. This was one of the first time's I recorded harsh vocals and listening back to it maybe I should try some more. Let me know what you think and hope you enjoy.

Down In A Hole - Alice In Chains

Please check out this month's karaoke challenge if you'd like to give it a shot.

This is some of my favorite writing ever. First thing I ever took my mic and tried to do too!

And I find it great practice. Usually I don't share these but I felt like breaking the mold tonight.

It's especially useful for learning to actually raise my voice and well... scream lol

I kept forgetting to actually post this one after it was recorded. Chris Cornell was an excellent musician who I unfortunately never really appreciated until after his death, but I've always enjoyed this song quite a bit.

Please check out this month's karaoke challenge if you'd like to join in.

Listen to me sing here.

The backing track is from Nox Karaoke on Youtube.

Hey all. Took a small break due to school stuff, but I'm back with my first submission of the month. I don't really have that special of a connection to Frank Sinatra, but I do really like this song and have played it in multiple bands before. It's also a good chance to flex my (slight) crooning skills. Please enjoy.
