Society If everyone lives in a personalized information bubble, what will hold society together?
fisherpub.sjf.eduOne small study of 234 students across five universities found limited shared media experiences, with video games providing the most common ground. That doesn’t prove society is fragmenting, but it raises an interesting question about what might connect us in the future.

Space Europe is still dithering on reusable rockets; a fatal flaw, as its former allies turn their space tech against it in a time of war.
Europe has a reusable rocket program. The trouble is it's progressing at a slow pace. That didn't matter so much when Europe was part of an alliance with other countries, and could share their space tech. That old world is disappearing fast, and likely never coming back.
Instead, what used to be allies in a world of shared values based on international law has been replaced by authoritarianism, and where there used to be NASA, an oligarch-captured space program. Now former allies are siding with Europe's enemies, and talking openly about the destruction of the continent's political system. This dithering, relaxed European approach to space tech doesn't cut it anymore. Europe needs its own Starlink system, and it needed it yesterday. Technology sovereignty isn't just about AI & replacing Windows OS.
Ukraine says SpaceX limits Starlink operations, disrupting military

Computing Do you ever think With Growth of Technologies ,Mind is Becoming Lazy ??/
With Growth of technology ,the AI has made several humans get lazy mind , i have seen with my eyes people don't even bother to look at other sites on google they belive from 'AI overview 'which only summarises the topic,
In my class itselfn we had presentaion of Networking and let me tell you no team was bothering to even read the reasearch papers , articles to there topic they were just posting topic to AI LLM and creating Presentation deck , using AI to structure your findings is ok but getting information from it without having prior knowledge to that subject/topic in suprising for me
I personally in past did the same thing and realised that doing has no benifit in my future, instead we can you LLMs to study for from give notes , gathere the cites which provide information, strucutre the findings of subject, and many more.
In past when newly linux, and other OS were released , people were literally having a great mind in using it they even debate on which OS is better , they had better understanding of each commands than us , not only linux but of windows/macOS and several,
if you ask a student right now what this command does , how to install linux in windows, how to jailbreak MacOS then only 4/10 will answere perfectly rest will give raw answers and some won't even have knowledge of it. I too agree i use LLM for my benefit but i also cross check it with other sites, right now even i sometimes feel that few sites are ran by models 😂 , what to do 😰
Even the OPEN AI's ~722 papers on math, Claude solving Jacobian Conjecture, i think in no time future mathematicians are going to struggle , i hope that dosen't happend
DON'T YOU GUYS THINK WE ARE GETTING LAZY ?

Robotics While America mandates fuel-inefficient gasoline cars as the future, Chinese carmaker XPENG says its humanoid robot production will be turbo-charged by the 85% supply-chain overlap with its EV production.
Humanoid robot production in China is still only at the several thousand per year stage, but as s-curves do for tech, it will one day soon be hundreds of thousands and then millions. No doubt this will lead to much gnashing and wailing in the US, EU and elsewhere.
Meanwhile, the exact same people who will be complaining in the future are doing everything they can to hobble their own country's efforts to embrace 21st-century technology, all so they can score narrow ideological "wins". Electric Vehicles? No, they want gasoline cars deliberately engineered to be less efficient. Instead, what they are doing is accelerating their country's national decline. I doubt gasoline powered robots, deliberately designed to be fuel-ineneficent are the future of robotics.

Discussion yo rate my sci-fi close system for better future
Basically its just same as now BUT with more efficiency really fast protection and free necessity and needs for everyone no exception "few work for all" not the opposite. you can call it altruism system or altruism power its mix between manipulated technocracy socialism Communism
No money/currency/trade/economy "scarcity" all gone in history ghost yes you hear that right.. HOW? the answer for that is the sun = heat = devices work in the quantum world which manipulate heat to create any matter(everything is heat) and you have all right to say its imaginary same as the people in the old times saying humans flying is imaginary.. our life spand is SO small yet we are very special animals we cannot comprehend im afraid that everything is possible that humans live right now in a clock out system that can be gone anytime replace with another with evil that I cannot imagine putting all human history of evilness as a mercy im scared for those generations the none ending suffer they will face in their whole life thats why we need more then ever a real life utopia with more realism and upgrading a none ending one.
I said all that just so you understand why my some kind of utopia designed like this
WHY ITS SOME KIND OF UTOPIA? because there will be still authority/prisons(NEW)/weapons(NEW)/people that must work all day night.
IS CLEAN FOOD AND WATER, HOUSES, MEDICAL NECESSITY, PROTECTION, EDUCATION... ALL FREE? yes and must important freedom and culture will be fully free provided by the presidents/rulers.
WHOS GONNA ONLY WORK? the rulers and president in the authority 1000 people spread it in earth in their own 7 government.
WHO ARE THEY? people who have all knowledge in earth will work always with their devices and studying of everything having their own altruism school system when kids.
IS THERE ANY RULES? yes only 2 dont exploit others in any way and education is inevitable.
CAN NONE RULERS/PRESIDENTS WORK TOO? yes they can but not have to they cannot become rulers/president tho its very complex to be one you must be in specific school when kid and other.. or just enjoy life.
WHOS GONNA CLAEN TOLIETS, STREETS... AND BRING BAD PEOPLE IN PRISONS? cube light.
WHAT IS CUBE LIGHT? its literally just light shaped as a cube that can get bigger or smaller depnts on the situation and its role it can multiple it can touch anything but cannot been touched it can rebuild or build generated by the devices in the government where the rulers and presidents work. like one rule is that detect any kind of suffer and get to it and stop it putting the bad person in the cube...
And no there will be no any kind of playing in the human body or stuff like 1984 or robots or big houses humans live in or AI or charity that give one by one food or whatever you think right now.
Its more complicated and I have allot we can talk in comments if anyone interest and say FISHHHHH ECONOMYYYYYY

Discussion The Unspoken Bottleneck of the Energy Transition: How Phasing Out Fossil Fuels Threatens Global Sulfuric Acid (H2SO4) Supply
As global energy policy accelerates the shift away from oil and gas, a critical industrial paradox is being largely overlooked: the global supply of sulfuric acid (H2SO4).
The Dependency: Sulfuric acid is the backbone of modern chemical manufacturing and, crucially, the primary leaching agent required to extract transition metals (lithium, nickel, cobalt, copper, and rare earths) for batteries and EV infrastructure.
The Paradox: Over 80% of global elemental sulfur is extracted as a byproduct of desulfurizing crude oil and natural gas to meet environmental regulations.
The Bottleneck: As fossil fuel refining declines, sulfur production drops proportionally. Transitioning to alternative sources—such as mining elemental sulfur or pyrites—requires building dedicated chemical plants with 3 to 5-year lead times, immense capital input, and significant local environmental impact.
How do we balance the aggressive scaling of metal-intensive green technology with the rapid reduction of the very supply chain that produces its most essential processing chemical? Is this physical infrastructure timeline accounted for in current net-zero roadmaps?

Discussion What would make you use something other than your phone.
phones have been the main thing for like 15 years. bigger screens, better cameras, same idea.
glasses, pins, all that stuff hasn't really caught on. so say something new shows up. what would it have to do for you to leave your phone in your pocket?
cheaper isn't enough. cooler isn't either. it'd have to be easier at something, and i can't figure out what.
or maybe nothing replaces it and we're just stuck with phones. so yeah, what do you think?

Transport Student here, curious what you think: could a car someday be a shared resource instead of just something we own?
Update 2: I know sharing vehicles, rental cars and public transport are nothing new, which is why I’m more curious about what else a vehicle could become beyond moving people from A to B. I'm thinking about 10+ years into the future... something that does not exist today... just want your wild ideas:) thx
Update 1: Thanks so much for the replies so far! I realise I should have been clearer. I’m aware of things that already exist, like car sharing, V2G and battery subscriptions, and they’re great. What I’m really hoping to hear are ideas that don’t exist yet. Ways a vehicle could be useful or create value beyond getting people from A to B. Nothing is too wild or too early, so feel free to dream a bit!
Original post:
Hi everyone,
I’m a master’s student, and this semester I’m working on a university project about the future of vehicles. I’ve been thinking about it a lot lately, and honestly, I keep coming back to a question I can’t quite answer on my own.
Most cars belong to one person, spend most of the day parked, and eventually get scrapped. I can’t help wondering if that’s really the best we can do.
What if a vehicle could be something shared, a resource that creates value for lots of people and maybe even other industries, throughout its whole life?
I don’t really know what that would look like, and that’s exactly why I’m asking here. A lot of you have thought about cars, energy and the future far longer than I have, so I’d genuinely love to hear your thoughts. Big ideas, small ones, things you’ve seen somewhere, or reasons you think it would never work are all really welcome.
Thanks:)

AI Britain to get first look at new AI systems after White House U-turn
The White House has reinstated the UK’s access to the latest AI models for safety testing after lobbying from ministers, The Telegraph can reveal.
The UK’s AI Security Institute (AISI) will now be able to access the latest models from US tech companies before they are released, allowing British officials to run safety tests.
Last month, the White House asked Anthropic, OpenAI and other major AI companies to stop sharing their models with AISI, in a major blow to Andy Burnham’s attempt to become a world leader in AI regulation.
After the order from Donald Trump’s Office of the National Cyber Director, Anthropic restricted UK officials from reviewing its new Claude Mythos 5.1 model.
The Telegraph understands that decision has been reversed after lobbying from Kanishka Narayan, the AI minister, and AISI will be given pre-release access to models from Anthropic, Google Deepmind and OpenAI, the creator of ChatGPT.
Mr Burnham’s push for international regulation of AI models comes despite Mr Trump’s warning that “globalist” organisations should not interfere with the development of models by American companies.
Mr Trump told the United Nations General Assembly last month that he wanted to “encourage” AI, “not rein it in”.
He said: “Americans have never been a nation that retreats from a frontier or shrinks from a challenge, no matter how great or how daunting that challenge may be.”
However, in a speech on Monday, Mr Narayan will warn that tech companies cannot be left to regulate themselves, and will announce a series of new measures to reduce the risk of AI to the Government, companies and the public.
He will announce changes to Labour’s Cyber Security and Resilience Bill, which will strengthen the requirement for companies working on critical national infrastructure projects to report to the Government any security breaches using AI.
Ministers are also planning to increase the Government’s use of frontier AI – the most recent and advanced models – to protect Whitehall departments from cyber attacks.
On Sunday, it was reported that the heads of MI6, MI5 and GCHQ had warned ministers that AI had empowered hostile actors and terrorists who could use it to shut down sensitive sites or obtain confidential information.
Mr Narayan will also announce more support from the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) – an offshoot of GCHQ – for companies to defend themselves from AI-powered attacks.
Cybersecurity officials in the NCSC, Cabinet Office and Department for Culture, Media and Sport will be given greater resources to investigate and respond to incidents.
A source said the speech would be a “genuinely significant intervention” on the risks posed by AI companies and their products, while signalling that Britain would defend itself using AI where necessary.
Britain has attempted to pitch itself as a global leader on AI regulation through the AISI, which is more advanced than its international competitors.
Mr Burnham said during his speech to the UN that Britain would use its presidency of the G20 next year to press for further global collaboration on AI.
He told world leaders he hoped the UK would act as an “honest broker” to draw up “a single set of global principles and standards” for the development of AI models.
He said: “In a divided world, we have the ability to bring people together – and we will.
“We are going to step into that role. And we are going to start with one of the most significant challenges and opportunities of our age – frontier AI.”
He claimed that the UK was working “hand in glove” with American AI companies – a statement that was undermined when the White House blocked Britain’s regulator from accessing the latest models.

AI To get ahead in the AI race, Big Tech are deliberately building AI to be deceptive and dangerous, with no guardrails or oversight. This can only end in disaster, and anyone claiming otherwise is lying to you.
Economist John Maynard Keynes once famously said 'Capitalism is the extraordinary belief that the nastiest of men, for the nastiest of reasons, will somehow work for the benefit of us all.'
Case in point. Not only has Big Tech's capture of the US government meant they face no oversight or legal restrictions, to get ahead in the AI race, they are deliberately building AI to be dangerous and deceptive.
I'm increasingly convinced the only way we'll rid ourselves of Big Tech's drive for Fascist takeover, is when we rebuild from the smoldering ruins of the societal disaster they'll create. Only then are we going to get a reckoning. They've so twisted public debate, that being opposed to them bringing society to ruins means you're a 'doomerist'.

Title is the question. Thinking about how US and/or China attacking each other's data centers would hurt economically and societally?
