In that update, I mentioned that u/ody-sss-eus had been hard at work filling gaps in the news archive. He'd also done some work to flesh out our archives of Homer drops and blonded radio programming. Most recently, he's been working with u/ECHOOFNAZARETH to create a complete history of Frank Ocean's official merchandise, released and unreleased.
This Merch Museum has been a long time coming. I think it might have been within the first 3 or 4 pages I stubbed out when I first started the blog many years back. A few folks have offered to help with the effort over the years, but those promises always fell through and the project got put on the back-burner. I'm thrilled now to see such a well-executed effort from two of this sub's most die-hard contributors.
If you're a frequent visitor of the blog, you may have already visited this page. We've been quietly demoing it in public for a little while now. We've had to get clever with image optimization in order for the page to render—it's that complete!
As always, if you see anything missing, let us know in the comments. If you'd like to support the site, you can donate here to keep it running.
Hey everyone. It's been a minute since I last posted any news about blonded.blog. I'll let you read the blog post to learn why that is, but I just want to quickly say thank you to this community for the support you've shown me and the project since it went dark.
That includes the dozens of you PM'ing me to ask for links to content that was DMCA'd. 😅
We're back for now and, while there will likely be content missing that you've come to expect in our decade of existence, you're going to find a much more complete news archive and more. That's mainly thanks to the hard work of u/ody-sss-eus, who I've brought on as a full-fledged contributor to the blog. They actually posted a few things towards the end of last year, but few would have had the chance to read any of it before the shutdown occurred.
Anyway, sorry for the delay. Please read the post for the full story and feel free to ask questions here. I'll answer as I'm able.
It’s been years now so the orange has faded sooo much, reminiscing on the old and had to share to people who get it. I get a lot of random guesses from strangers on what it is supposed to mean
Hi! My name is Yousef Srour and I'm the author of the new book about Frank Ocean's Blonde for Bloomsbury's 33 1/3 Series.
The book comes out today, October 15, and it explores how Frank Ocean made the masterpiece that is Blonde. I examine the cultural impact of the record, Ocean's seven-year chess game with Def Jam, his various influences, and its role as a seminal work of the 2010s Afrofuturist revival.
Combining archival interviews with personal anecdotes, the book aims to elucidate why Blonde is the single most important album of the streaming era, through its rollout, release, and legacy.
I'm a Bay Area-born freelance writer and critic. My work has appeared in the LA Review of Books, Pitchfork, Stereogum, the Vallejo Sun, Variety and more.
I have recently acquired the remix to in my room, and tbh, it doesn’t really click for me. People who like it, what were your feelings when first hearing it? Does it get better?
my chest still hurts and it’s been like 10 minutes since i listened to it dude. this song had me so fucked up i had shit coming out of my eyes nose and mouth, what the fuck man fuck you frank ocean that’s fucked up. nah i’m kidding but this was actually awful and i’d rather crush my balls with a hammer than do that again
My dad was in Kopenhagen Denmark and got me this as a gift from bebop, Love that store. The new 2026 pressing with new mixing and everything is just so beutiful. Feels like i'm listening to a hole newly released album. Highly recomend buying if your debating it
It's obvious Frank's last name - "Ocean" was taken from his spouse. I wanted to know if Frank has ever mentioned which ocean he's married to and how he got into such a relationship.
I don't think any other album has been able to associate specific feelings of peace and growing from my adolescence. It's been a decade and it's molded how I interpreted music and craving the small, moments.
I grew up in Alaska, and associated the feelings with cold mornings, pink skies, contemplating, complicated relationships defaulting, I'm still finding this feeling. Blond is my escape peace of mind, my own views.
