Visiting Bowland By Bus to Bowland

By Bus to Bowland

See this post for various maps of the area

No 11 from Settle through Giggleswick and Rathmell to Tosside

This bus service only runs twice a day from Monday to Saturday. The Giggleswick bus stop is a bit hard to find, it’s at Raines rd, the first bus leaves Giggleswick at 10 but you don’t have much time as the last bus back leaves Tosside at 13:42!

From Lancaster up the A683 to Bentham

There are several services running from Lancaster along the A638 up to Bentham and through to Ingleton, these are operated by Dalesbus although these timetables change so much from year to year the company is locally referred to as ‘Failsbus’!

No 5 From Clitheroe to Chipping via Whalley, Hurst Green, Ribchester and Longridge

The No 5 service offers the most frequent and reliable route into Bowland, it also runs every day of the week and takes you further into the area than any other except maybe the next one in this list which takes you to one of the nicest, quietest, and least frequented parts of Bowland…

The DRO6 (Demand Responsive) ‘dial-a-bus’ bus from Hornby or Bentham up to Lowgill

This is known as a ‘dial-a-bus’ service set up for use by isolated locals but open for everyone to use, it connects with the train station at Bentham or the buses in Hornby and goes as far up the valley as Lowgill, which means you can quite easily get up into the high fells, unfortunately it doesn’t operate on weekends and you need to pre-book your journey before 12 the day before, which you can only do by phone.

These are the only reliable services I know of but if you know of any more please comment!

Children's oral health in Lancashire- Current Challenges and Needed Interventions- 5-10 MINUTE SURVEY

Post image
2 Upvotes

We are a group of researchers at the University of Lancashire, focusing on the oral health of young children in Lancashire. If you are a parent or carer of a child aged 5-12, we would be very grateful if you could complete our short online survey, which takes around 5-10 minutes. We are also interested in speaking to parents and carers in a short interview about what oral health information and support would be most helpful for families. Please see the attached poster for more details.

To take the survey, just scan the QR code or visit the link on the poster.

Thank you very much for your time and support!
