From what I understand vibe coding by someone without software engineering experience can produce working small programs. It can't produce complex applications that actually work, because it takes an expert to identify problems in the code and use the correct language to prompt the AI to 'see' the bugs and fix them (or fix the code themselves). Even with the most sophisticated agentic coding techniques at this time is still takes an expert to identify and fix problems in AI-generated code. 'Vibe coding' a sophisticated application is a myth. As far as I can tell, it will remain a myth for the foreseeable future, as LLMs have no actual reasoning skills. If you can't see and describe specific problems in the code yourself, you can't prompt an AI to fix it for you.
