Movies What do you think of Memento (2000)?
(Photo of the Memento character Jimmy Grantz I took for no reason other than because he’s my favourite character)
Still been my fave film for 10 months straight now!

To me, it’s a masterpiece for what it does to the viewer. The main character keeps arriving in these scenarios with no idea of how he got there, who the people around him are, or why he is where he is - and because of the movie’s staggered timeline the viewer also has no idea why this guy is here, who the people around him are, or why he is where he is. It’s brilliant, immediately makes the viewer feel like they are afflicted with the main characters disorder.

Phone call tattoo reveal scene gave me actual goosebumps and sent a chill down my spine first time I saw it

Same here. Also happened when I actually heard Jimmy say “Sammy” (which for me took a while to actually hear).

Classic film with great performances from Pearce and Joey Pants. Compelling and brave storytelling with trusting the viewer to understand the timeline.

Carrie was good? Do you really want me to list all the supporting actors?

👋 bye 👋
But maybe don’t use me as an association to all Nolanites. Every Nolanite is different. We aren’t Swifties.

Probably Nolan's best movie. Guy peaked early.

I think it's a very cool idea (as all of his movies tend to be), and is a film made in an interesting way, and then... kinda ends up sacrificing a lot of that coolness for melodrama? (As all of his movies tend to do.)
That's the best way I can think to put it at this moment.

I like this movie, but most of people who had that kind of disorder require full-time care. So the idea that he's able to write things down, and just live even .02% of a normal life was a bit silly

It's one of my very favorite films! Also, the bar scene was filmed in my favorite bar, so that's fun too.

I can’t remember it exactly, but the scene when he’s running and talking to himself. “ Why am I running? Oh, I’m chasing this guy.” Gunshot. “No, I’m running from him.”

Nolan is a great director with a lot of great movies under his belt. That said, for my money, this is his only perfect film.
