I've never heard of any Fijian asking for immunity to remain. Yet, it does. From the cowardice of the Supreme Court to this Amendment Bill. No one is willing to put the country before asshole dictators.

PM support 2 term limit and immunity removal, but its up to parliamentary vote

Can't vote if it isn't in the constitution!

Only fools would remove the immunity provisions from the constitution, as doing so would invite an immediate coup.

There are dozens in RFMF leadership who would be prosecuted without the immunity provisions, and they won’t let it happen.

It’s a necessary evil.

That's like saying drug dealers shouldn't be charged because it will keep happening or rapists shouldn't be charged.

Exactly. If your rapist is next to you and nobody around can stop them from raping you, stfu and don't do the exact thing which will make them rape you again.

That's me and many of my fellow citizens. We don't want to get raped again by the RFMF, against whom we have no defence.

When has staying silent ever stopped a rapist? If this worked, women and children around the world would have kept shut instead of advocating for a change.

If you want to keep talking about rape, then you have to keep the rest of the comparison correct. The rape is happening on an isolated island where the rapist is the most powerful entity. There's no recourse. There's no other party that will come and save the day.

You have two options:

  1. keep quiet and hope you never get raped again. You haven't been raped in almost two decades, so keeping quiet is working so far.

  2. threaten to jail the rapist, which will instantly trigger your rape.

There isn't a third option.
