It's the last challenger before the Grand Prix starts!! This week, we are traveling to Budapest. For the men, Kevin Aymoz is making his international season debut, Lukas Britschgi is in the mix, and Daniel Grassl gets in one last competition before the GP. The list of men is long and notable!
For Women, there are 37 competitors.... So it'll be a long, fun few days of watching. Notable competitors here are Maddie Schizas, Kimmy Repond, Julia Sauter, Sophie Jolie von Felton, and Olga Mikutina. There has been some movement with the AIN athletes, but currently Alina Gorbacheva is the only one listed on the official ISU website.
No pairs here this weekend, but the ice dance field is just as packed as the men and women with 23 entries. The Taschlers are getting in another competition and will be joined by Smart/Dieck and Bratti/Somerville.
Going to be a big week in Budapest! And that's without really detailing the juniors, of which there are several as well, with 29 entries for Women and 22 Ice Dance entries.

Update: Entry lists on the ISU homepage have been updated
This was announced by Alexander Kogan, Secretary General of the Russian Figure Skating Federation (FFKKR) at RIA Novosti.
Trusova/Ignatova gets the spot that opened up due to the withdrawl of Chae-yeon Kim. Semenenko (do not mind the title please, fml) gets Cha Jun-hwans slot. (Vladislav Dikidzhi has the third Chinese host slot, that they gave up)
Visas are going to be no issue, Russians can travel to China without a visa.

Looking ahead to her first competition, Skate Canada, the second event of the GP Series, Shimada said, “For the short program (SP), I want to skate with strength and break out of my shell, with the image of spreading my wings as I take flight into the senior ranks. For the free skate, I hope the audience can feel the excitement building from the final jump through the steps and spins.”
Shimada made her senior international debut in September at the Kinoshita Group Trophy, part of the Challenger Series. In the free skate, she successfully landed two major elements—a triple Axel and a quadruple toe loop—to come from second place after the short program and win the competition.
She extended her unbeaten streak in international competitions into the senior ranks. The streak began at the Enya Spring Trophy in April 2022, when she was still competing in the novice category at the age of 13, and has now reached 20 consecutive victories.
Asked about her goals for the season, Shimada said, “I want to unlock the full potential of my quads. I want to make my quadruple toe loop more consistent, and after seeing a quadruple Lutz in person at a recent competition, I thought I’d like to add another type of quad to my repertoire.”
At the Kinoshita Group Trophy, she was inspired by the impressive quadruple Lutz performed by Alexandra Ignatova of Russia, the silver medalist at the 2022 Beijing Olympics. Shimada reportedly uses a harness during practice to develop a feel for the landing.
She also plans to attempt a triple Axel in the short program, a jump that was not permitted in the junior short program. “I hope to include a triple Axel in my short program at every competition this season,” she said.
Shimada is scheduled to compete at Skate Canada and the Finlandia Trophy, the fifth event in the GP Series, which begins on November 21. She is aiming to qualify for the Grand Prix Final in China in December.
As she prepares to fully embark on her senior career, Shimada expressed her determination: “I’ve always looked up to the senior ranks, so I hope to make this a year in which I challenge myself to try new things without hesitation.”

Just found out this surprise tidbit of information about what happened to Emilia last week, that I somehow missed earlier during the stream and thought others might've missed it, too. Emilia's blade broke and she only had the 6-minute warmup to get used to the new one! I know there was some discourse over Skylar not being chosen instead of Emilia for Gdansk, but this was really an unexpected obstacle to her overall performance here, where I think she ended up much lower than anyone expected. So proud of her for persevering and giving it her best shot anyway!
The linked video is a recap where Mark talks about it again. He also told viewers about it right before her free skate.

After her unsuccessful attempts to switch federations, she will compete in the Russian Grand Prix again for the first time this weekend. However, the local organizing committee told Vlad Zhukov that Sofia’s entry form doesn’t specify a particular club or coach. In effect, this means she’ll be competing in the season’s first event without an official coach. She is also currently training on her own.

Unfortunately, I won’t be able to compete at the Grand Prix event in Kazan due to illness. I wish you good health—please take care of yourselves
I’ll definitely see you at other Grand Prix events in Russia

do you think, that she will try 3a3t at short program, since she want to beat Sofia Dzepka? She doesn't has high score in short so maybe that element would give her a chance

This was just broadcast on TV Asahi channel 2 a couple of hours ago.
It was a group interview with the 8 members of the japanese figure skating team including Shun Sato, Kao Miura, Rio Nakata, Sota Yamamoto, Mone Chiba, Ami Nakai, Mao Shimada and Yuna Aoki.
I made subtitles using Open Ai whisper transcription and google translate but I don't have time to fix the timing and spelling mistakes. It looked mostly ok as far as I can tell.
Kaori sakamoto made a surprise appearance near the start to give a msg to the team

youtube video is blocked in russia and belarus so for those people use the google drive video instead.
