Temporary Soreness, Redness and Hard Bumps Are Normal

I noticed I'm seeing a lot of hysteria regarding symptoms with injections that are actually normal and should be expected to a degree. So I want to make a pinned announcement to hopefully prevent misinformation and redundant posts.

Starters, testosterone vials are sustained in thick oils. At room temperature, the viscosity can go all the way from 27-33 cP to 1000-1500 cP all depending on the carrier oil used. The impact this has on the pharmaceutical's pharmacokinetics can be incredibly significant, take castor oil for example. (Source 1) (Source 2) (Source 3)

With that said, if you are injecting thick oils right underneath the skin (subcutaneous injections) you should expect to see visible, itchy bumps that may last for days. These are called depots. This will not be as much of a common occurrence if you do intramuscular, since the oil will be deeper into the injected tissue. (Source 4)

If you experience redness, bleeding or soreness, please note this is also normal. When you are injecting, you can damage some blood vessels which will induce slight bruising (redness) and perhaps blood leaking through the injection site. (Source 5) (Source 6) (Source 7)

None of these sensations or events means you are allergic to the carrier oil. Which is incredibly rare since these oils are refined and lack the protein for our immune system to respond to anyways. Not only that, you probably already consume these oils on a casual basis within your diet especially in processed foods. (Source 8)

However, if you experience unusual discoloring like green or blue pigment you should be alarmed. This includes other characteristics such as unusually large bumps, leaking pus, long-lasting side effects or immense pain. Which you'd then need to see a doctor for medical consultation, because likely that is an infection.

Edit: if you have various discolored/light/tanned bumps bunched around eachother in a large area, go to the ER immediately.

This does not include any information regarding sourcing, everything listed abides by Reddit ToS.

I'm still fixing wording, adding more citations and more content. When this semester ends, I plan to finish the website. Please make sure to read the injection guide.

Im planning on saving up some money for testogel.

Im gonna buy it around christmas since i will be probably be getting money as a gift from family members.

My questions are how much of these should i buy and how much times should i use them per week? Budget version since im 15 with no stable income, i get my money from selling on vinted, art commissions and gifts (Christmas and Birthday basically).

Ive heard that ideally you have to use one of these everyday but i dont think i could buy that many cuz yk i dont really have a job yet.

starting DIY, but..

Hey all! I’ve just got my first ever vials of T - i’m so excited to start however i still live at home with parents (17, 3 months from being 18.) They do NOT support me or my choices. They say they’ll only support me once i reach the age of 21 when my ‘brain fully develops’ as they believe it’s just a phase that i’m trans.

There’s little risks of me being in any sorts of danger such as being kicked out, however i’m worried for when they know i’ve started. Has anyone been through similar? Starting without fully telling your family?

Dosage help for a 14 year old

Hi. My young relative is getting his HRT through a pediatric endocrinologist and he’s concerned he’s being underdosed. He’s taking a much less than I did when I started. I don’t know who to ask, but it seems like the DIY guys are probably the experts.

He’s almost 15 and he’s taking .1 of 200mg/ml oil with subQ injections. He’s 5’ and is neither skinny or fat.

In contrast, I started at 26 and I’m very tall. I started at .25 of 200mg/ml and over the years increased to .6. I’m not on injections anymore because my insurance covers pellets.

.1 is not enough, right?

Im considering doing diy but before I start there are a few things I need to know

1) how do I calculate how much I have to inject so that i dont accidentally overdose/underdose? Will i have to know my hormone levels first?

2) how do I know which body part I should inject in? Wether I should do my belly, thigh etc.?

3) what if unsupportive family members find out? What do I tell them?

Are blood tests really that important?

Hi everyone I'm 15 and about to start diy 250mg 1ml every 3 weeks but the thing is I can't get any blood tests. Can I like tell if my levels are right? Like for example if my levels are too high/low are there any telltale signs or will I have to Wing it. The dose I'm going with is the average so I should be fine but I'm still trying to be as safe as possible

Low T — Advice for uptitrating dose?

I don’t DIY (currently), but I’ve been on a waitlist for an endocrinologist for over a year and at this point my GP just prescribes what I ask for (in terms of HRT).

Recently got bloodwork done and my free testosterone is much lower than I’d like it to be. I currently take 50mg (0.5mL of 100mg/mL Testosterone Cypionate) via subQ injection once a week and the Lupron Depot shot every three months. My levels as of a week ago are as follows:

TSH — 0.81 mIU/L
FSH — 9.1 IU/L
LH — 2.1 IU/L
Testosterone — 10.9 nmol/L
Free Testosterone — 154 pmol/L
Estradiol — 98 pmol/L
Progesterone — 1.0 nmol/L

I’m currently 21. I started Lupron Depot when I was 16 and Testosterone when I was 17. When I was 20 I attempted to stop taking Lupron but my menstrual cycle returned 4 months after I stopped, so I resumed taking it.

What I’m generally wondering is:
What increments should I raise my dose by? How often should I be getting my levels re-checked and adjusting my dose?
Is there anything I should be doing (other than just raising my dose) if I want to be able to stop taking Lupron?

Any other advice is welcome and appreciated!

i recently bought these but it turns out they're for "veterinary or industrial use only". I saw people in the reviews using them for TRT. Is it safe?

I'm a trans man with PCOS. Do I need different doses of testosterone?

I've been diagnosed with PCOS and I want to do diy because I don't feel like sorting through endocrinologists and waiting a lot. Is it dangerous to take testosterone with PCOS? Are there risks?

I have infrequent periods. Can I just get labs and go off of that. Is there anything to seriously worry about?

Is it even possible to get blood tests without my parents knowing as a minor? They’ll go crazy if they find out I’m on DIY HRT and they’re probably gonna tell my entire family

All of this sucks, I’m scared and I have no support. Is it even worth it or is it better to wait like 5 years?

Switching from 175mg/2 weeks to 125/weekly or should it be less?

I have slightly low SHBG and unsuppressed ovarian activity but no menses, just fucked up hormonal cycles. Also I'm highly prone to aromatization, my E2 levels always shoot up after every shot, and climbs high by the end of each shot cycle. Taking testosterone enanthate right now at 175mg every two weeks. What should the adjusted dose be? 169cm 66kg, high body fat %.

Anyone with experience buying bloods from Sapphic Bison as a 16 year old?

Their policy is 18+ and states that if you are under 18 they will not send your order or something. I’m wondering how their age verification works, if there is a way of linking my bank account to my age, or my address, my deadname etc.

Can I tell my psychiatrist I’m on DIY (UK)

I have an appointment booked with a psychiatrist to get a referral letter for top surgery. I said on the form that I’m on testosterone but I didn’t provide details. If they ask where I’m getting my T from directly, will it be okay to tell them I’m on DIY or will they refuse to give me a referral letter? If so, can I get away with lying and saying I’m doing private?

Hey ,help ?

I’m taking testosterone enanthate and injecting it into the fat in my abdomen. I’ve developed bruises at every injection site, with red, purple, and black discoloration.
Could the problem be the injection technique or the type of testosterone I’m using? Am I injecting it in the wrong place because I’m injecting it into the fat rather than the muscle? Or is this a normal reaction, especially since I’ve only recently started?

Can i switch from IM to Subq with any brand of testosterone?

Basically, i want to start doing Subq injections or at least use a smaller needle, not bc it hurts, i have a really good tolerance for needles, but sadly the vial doesn't have the same tolerance for 21G needles and i'm about to core my vial, luckily where i live there's a brand of testosterone that is really easy to get, but it's indication says to only apply IM, could i still try Subq? and another problem, most 25G needles i find already come attached to the syringe and it's not possible to change, is it still safe to use those?

T dosing with ampoules?

hello, i have recently started preparing for DIY injections, and ive found myself to be in a bit of a predicament which I'm sure others have been in as well. The source which im buying from only offers doses of 250g per ampoule, which is obviously too high of a dose, but im unsure if there are ways for me to store away the rest of the T without it becoming less sterile overall. I've seen peope buy reusable vials and utilize a syringe to move it from one container to the other to be able to then use it multiple times, but would that truly be sterile/any different than storing a dose each in multiple syringes for later use?. I am willing to throw away the rest of the dose if push comes to shove, but if I begin at a lower dose of 50g that'd be basically 4 weeks of T down the drain and this medication is moderately expensive for long term use...

thank you again. any input would be appreciated.

How do you get puberty blockers

Title. I (15M) want to keep my growth plates open but if I get on testosterone I will be in danger due to parents. I don't know how I'm supposed to sort out p*riods or if they can find out since I have helicopter parents. But I'm insanely dsyphoric and if I get stuck at 5'4 forever I'll hate myself for the rest of my life. I heard for testosterone you can disguise the voice drop but then you'll be stuck at a female pitch.

So here's some questions

  1. Should I microdose? T? Puberty blockers?

  2. What can I do to more height and stop female puberty? Is there other ways to delay female puberty?

  3. Will HRT be ineffective after 18 when it comes to height? What about bone structure?

First inject as a nervous person | some advice for other anxious guys

As a VERY anxious person, I overthink everything I do. I have a whole word document on self advice for my injections but there's already a lot of posts containing these things. I just want to reassure any other anxious people out there.

It is NOT that big of a deal. Yes, it's amazing going onto T, that's the deal. The injection itself may be a big achievement but damn was it anticlimactic. I thought the needle would hurt, didn't even pinch. Didn't feel it go in, nor the medicine itself. Worst part was building up that courage to do it, don't chicken out people it'll make things worse for yourself with all the built up anxiety.

Everyone who's thinking about doing it but keeps putting it off - just do it bros.

Bitcoin as a minor

I know I'm able to buy cryptocurrency as a minor, but a lot of digital wallets don't allow me to send bitcoin because of my age. Does anyone know of any crypto wallets I can send payment through or any other payment recommendations for a minor?
