I'm curious how different universities have their own culture and identity.

If you could pick just ONE word that instantly makes students and alumni think of FIU, what would it be?

Hey guys, I just got some few questions regarding Dropping/withdrawing from a class. I’ve never dropped a class yet so I don’t know what some of the procedures are. I want to drop my Chm1045 (chemistry 1) Class due to some scheduling conflicts and I haven’t been able to attend that class for a while, which hurt my grade significantly. I don’t want my GPA to tank, hence why I want to drop/withdraw. If I drop my Chm1045, will I also be automatically dropped from Chm1045L (chem 1 lab)? Also this semester I’m taking 13 credits, making me a full time student, if I drop chem class, I will drop down to 10 or 9 credits (depends if lab also gets dropped), which will make me a part time student. Could this possibly affect me financially? I’ve received full fafsa grant for full time students and then I got a refund after tuition was paid. Since now I might be possibly going down to part time, do I have to owe them any money?

recently I’ve been interested in starting a club for next semester. It’d be a Russian language and culture club, where we’d organize activities involving Russian language, history, music, literature, films etc. You wouldn’t need to speak Russian, however it’d be a good place to practice and learn.
I’m also looking for students who’d be interested in helping establish the club and potentially join. Dm me if you’re interested.

Anyone having issues with this course? And the way it is being taught? I have spoken to over 20 students in same class and they have all expressed the same sentiment, we are being rushed through the course and nothing is being understood. Wondering if it’s the course or professor.

The rest of the clan and I have been trying to get our organization unfrozen for the last 2-3 months, and nothing has moved. I would like to escalate the process. Who should I reach out to specifically?

Considering going back to school for engineering and see that FIU has an online electrical program was wondering what other students that have been through that have thought

Just following up from last week’s job fair. Some employers recommend a security clearance and said the university might help sponsor that. If so where do I proceed to follow up. Or whom do I ask?

hello! i am very interested in becoming an orientation leader for the 2027 school year, but have never applied previously so im interested in the benefits and drawbacks of becoming one. any advice is appreciated! :D

Hi! Does anyone know if there’s a shared Google Drive or student resource archive for the Architecture program at FIU?

I’m looking for something with materials from different courses, like old exams, assignments, class notes, study guides, professor info/recommendations, and other resources shared by students.

It could also be a Discord, WhatsApp group, or any other platform where Architecture students share this kind of material.

If anyone knows of something like this, I’d really appreciate it. Thanks!

I heard of groups of students who went together but wasn't sure.

I js thought of this, let’s say you consistently ate a full time student every semester for ur undergrad years as in u take 15 credits or more each semester and then u might have like only three or two credits left to do for ur last semester, would u still receive financial aid I’ve heard some people get it cancelled completely

Also if u transferred 45 credits from ur highschool and ur major behavioral neuroscience requires more than 120 credits would financial aid cover or count those 45 towards the 120 limit.

Also for anyone who’s graduated from a bachelors in behavioral. Neuroscience was it worth it. I think they added natural and applied sciences for me to be on the pre med track

Any info would be helpful ty in advance

There is this hackathon at UF called Gator Hack V - AI Days, and like basically it is 4 days. 'm a CS sophomore looking to put together a team or join up with others who would lowk be down to go. I just need a team, and i'm kinda solo rn :c

I just want to know who you all would recommend for Bio 2 & Physics 1

So I've been independently studying for the LSAT, Im just reaching out to see if anyone whose also studying would like a partner is all. I know the chances are slim in this reddit community, but I'd just like someone whose also from FIU to study with. Basicallyi hope to just drill and review and take techniquesfrom each other is all. Dm if interested!

So I’m an upcoming college student (HS) with the intent of majoring into nursing and attempting to enter the program. I’ve heard how competitive it is to enter, so what are things that would help me get into the program. Do you need stuff like having a cna license and clinical hours to be competitive?

I know having a high gpa throughout your classes are important, but I’ve heard students even with 3.8+ gpa get rejected.

Hey there, I'm a Canadian student currently finishing a bachelor's degree in computer science and I'm considering applying to the FIU Online electrical engineering program for a second bachelor's degree.
Does anyone here have experience applying to FIU
Online Engineering with a previous bachelor's degree? If so, what GPA did you have when you were admitted?
I'm especially wondering whether admission is based mainly on my university GPA or whether my high school grades/prerequisites would still be considered. Also, are the admission standards any different for international students applying to the online program?
Thanks!

Hey everyone,

I applied for a PhD in Earth Systems Science back in July before the August 1st deadline. I sent over my transcripts, all my recommenders submitted letters on time, and my PI already submitted sponsorship approval. However, MyFIU’s to-do page has 4 notifications (one duplicate) for these. Is this an issue that will affect my admissions timeline, or is it just a visual bug? This didn’t happen when I applied for undergrad. TYIA :)

Hi everyone,

I've got $8500 scholarship for FIU G1Y program for first year.

This scholarhsip is really helpful to me.

I emailed them regarding scholarhsip for further years and they said this is one time and not renewable.

im wondering how much scholsrhsip can you expect in 2nd 3rd and 4th years based on GPA as international student

Is there any free courses or programs that you can take to get a certification.

Or any courses I should take

Business or healthcare business or analytics

I was just wondering whats the average time for an advisor to reply to a message sent via PSN? He had no appointment dates for any day this semester at all oddly enough. I've never messaged an advisor directly before, so I was just wondering the average time since its been a few days since I sent my message.

Just wondering if someone has graduated with a BA in CompSci from FIU and what’s their life like now. Does it really matter the BS over the BA in the workforce? Did you have projects or Internships under your belt?

I got into MS in CS at FIU for Spring 2027 intake. I am wondering if the program is any good. Is the job market in Miami also cooked as anywhere else? How's the department is doing funding-wise? I am looking into getting scholarships as well, so if anyone has advice on that, that would be wonderful.

I need a solder for 2 seconds, is there one available at the engineering campus or anywhere? If anyone also lives on campus, has one, and would be kind enough to let me use it for one connection, lmkk!

Always proceed with extreme caution when inquiring about available dorms, as rental scams are becoming increasingly common and college students are viewed as an easy target.
