Announcement Introduction + Community Driven Flairs
How's it going everyone?
If you don't know me, I go by Purplepanther, I've been a fan of Fire Emblem Engage since I first got it. As my introduction to the series, it made the biggest impact on me, and have played through it dozens and dozens of times with different challenges.
Recently, I offered to take on the reigns of ownership from Flux after seeing his post. I've always enjoyed our little community we've had here, with people pushing the limits of creativity and difficulty in the game as well. I want to see that continue to thrive and improve on the community experience.
Therefore, new Flairs have been added, a long time ask of the community. General flairs have been added for now, but that's where you come in my friends.
What specific Flairs would you like to see added? Would you like to see a flair for specific Emblems and characters? Or would you rather have one flair for all Emblems and characters? I want to hear what the community wants, specially for something that's been wanted for quite a long time.
If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to contact me, and comment your recommendations for flairs, upvote your favorite ideas as well.
I also ask a favor on the community. Since I am new to modding on Reddit, I ask that if you see anything or anyone that might be breaking the rules, please report it manually to me so I can take appropriate actions. After looking through the mod menu, AutoMod deleted posts and comments that were otherwise perfectly acceptable. If that happens to you, please use the Mod Mail so I can see if it truly broke any rules or not.
Thank you so much for your support guys, it truly means the world to me seeing you guys use the flairs and edit them as you please.

Does anything in your first playthrough affect your second playthrough?

I bounced off FW and ended up here (the timing is perfect).
Writing this as I sit in the vet waiting room with my elder cat because it helps keep my mind off the worry.
A little background: I’m a big tactics freak (Xcom EW, WOTC, FFT, midnight Suns, etc). I wouldn’t say I’ve been deep in FE but I played Awakening, all routes of 3H and at least a few hours of a few others including Engage. But I didn’t care for the story of Engage whatsoever. Especially the first hour.
Anyways fast forward to the last few weeks. My cat is 19, she’s been a constant friend, traveled across the ocean with us from the US to Croatia. She’s struggling a bit with her health. It’s a huge mental strain. In times like these when life is hard, my mind does best when I’m playing an hour or so daily of a game that’s pure mechanical joy. Addictive and enriching.
Needless to say I bounced off of FW’s busy work hard and gave Engage a try and I’m absolutely loving it. Just finished chapter 10 and the associated mechanical twist for ch11 is so good.
So cheers: The story still sucks but this game on a mechanical level is incredible and it’s helping me through a not so great time.

Discussion First Maddening Mode Play Through Team Help
Hello everyone, I’m looking to begin my first ever Maddening Mode play through of a Fire Emblem game, and because of the fact I have been on an Engage kick, I plan to play it on Engage. So that brings me to my main question, is it really so important to use certain units over others? I’ve looked at multiple tier lists and break downs and almost none of them are able to agreed on most things. But even then most rate certain characters I like lower, and don’t talk about DLC characters and/ or emblems. I ask about all of this because I mostly just want to use what I think would be fun and have zero idea if that be a massive hindrance to my play through.

Screenshot I really love this game sometimes
I can’t complain because she has been AMAZING as a levin sword mage knight this run, but this kind of thing is always just too funny to me

Gameplay What do people like so much about Timerra?
Her strength is horrible. She has 15 STR after promotion, which seems fine, until you realize that she is Internal Level 18. For reference, 15 STR is the same as a 10/1 Wyvern Knight Lapis and 10/1 Tireur d'Elite Alcryst with his personal active. Both of them tie Timerra's STR while 8 levels lower and joining much earlier, early enough to grab pre-Chapter 10 skills.
Timerra's claim to fame is Sandstorm. It does significantly improve her damage, however due to her high IL she struggles to get it quickly. She needs the big EXP sinks from the paralogues, and other units want those. Moreover, Sandstorm is inconsistent. In a game like Engage, which uses reinforcements to enact time pressure, killing quickly and reliably is huge. Timerra can't do both without big resources that other units could use better. Also, Picket kinda sucks. It's lance locked and foot locked, which sucks, especially in comparison with other quality combat classes.
She also has some of the highest SPD+DEF stats in the game. Then again, her lead is not so big that it justifies her poor damage. I would rather take more damage or spend extra resources to kill enemies reliably on EP. And Engage does give you lots of resources to lower or nullify damage taken (Ike, Bonded Shield, Call Doubles, etc.).
I do not think that she is a F tier unit. She is more of a C tier to me. I do think she has a decent showing in Solm if you choose to deploy her, and her personal skill is great, but that's not enough to make her a high tier unit. What do you think?
TLDR: She has damage issues without an unreliable damage source, she joins late, her class is underwhelming, and she is not that good at enemy phasing.

If you defeat a character that will later become recruitable, and they retreat, can they still be recruited later?

Gameplay I'm going to run Engage Maddening with DLC. What are some broken strats?
I'm coming back to Engage after Fortune's Weave to run Maddening. I have the DLC. What are some good early tips and strats to aim for?
I'm planning to invest in Alear, Anna, and Chloe until I hit the mid game and start getting all the good units. I might keep Lapis and Diamant. Any tips for how to build good characters?
Any meta knowledge? I know you've got to get dogs early and get all your inherited skills before the mid game takes your emblems away

Title: First Fire Emblem game — how long should I give Engage before deciding if I want Fortune’s Weave?
I've officially started getting into Fire Emblem!
I just bought Fire Emblem Engage for 11.50 CHF because I've never played a Fire Emblem game before, and I figured it would be a good way to test whether I actually like the series before spending 80 CHF on Fortune's Weave.
I'm coming from games like Persona 5 and Persona 5 Tactica, and I really enjoyed P5T's combat, so I'm pretty interested in Fire Emblem's tactical gameplay. That said, Engage's combat still looks a little weird to me from what I've seen. The animations look really cool though, and I think I'll probably enjoy the actual gameplay once I get used to it.
I've also heard that Engage is around 40 hours, and I have quite a few other RPGs waiting to be played, so I'm wondering:
Should I play around 10-20 hours of Engage first and use that as a test for whether I want Fortune's Weave, or should I just commit to finishing Engage before deciding?
I'm not planning on buying Fortune's Weave immediately either way - I'd just like to know whether I should treat Engage as a trial run or properly play through the whole thing before making that decision.
No spoilers please!

Discussion Heya, I just completed a run of Maddening with a pretty wack team.
I made a post about this team a while back, at the time I was kind of curious what other people might think and, honestly, pretty nice interactions all around. Admittedly I probably shouldn’t have stuck with Starsphere for so long, but I managed to essentially run everyone with only 1 inheritable skill for most of the game. I should not be underestimated just how versatile Canter(+) can truly be. I was able to practically squeeze water out of stone in certain positions during Maddening, especially in the late-game when the game is at its hardest. Canter is more than just an avenue for extra movement in a game where movement is lacking, it is also an extremely useful tool to keep units out of excessive danger, set up kills, and to keep overall control of the map. In all honesty, this is the most not-stressful Maddening run I’ve had in an FE game. The most notable bottlenecks, in terms of difficulty, were chapters 21, 22, and 25. I also made a Tier list of the units and a list of their roles as well, just to get my thoughts across. The second to last image is the previous post btw. I very much appreciated the advice and thoughts given to me in the last post, that goes without saying. 🤝

Discussion Thinking about doing a maddening run, but because resources will be limited who is the best candidate for star seal/Tiki
I’m thinking about doing a maddening run with random growths so resources will be limited and I love using Tiki and star seal but I wanna limit myself too only using tiki and if I do buy star seal for unit only buying it for one unit with this in mine, which unit gets the best results with star seal normally I give it to a growth unit my immediate assumptions would be alfred, jean, and anna, who would benefit the most and or what unit would benefit more?
PS I know there’s some some units have dragon builds with Tiki that take advantage of the dragon transformation but right now I’m just focusing on who is the best person to give star seal

Screenshot Finally completed my second run of Engage Maddeninh. Tried out some new units for my run
That last Chapter fight was such a struggle lol. But I managed to complete my second run of Engage. Tried out some new units I didn’t use in my last run and for the most part, they turned out pretty well.
Especially Diamant, who is considered quite mid. Bro was literally Kagetsu “at home” for me lol.
As for character highlights, Clanne + Lyn was definitely a saviour for me. Especially with Draco Hex + Astra Storm. Merrin + Marth syngerized very well. Yunaka & Corrin worked kind of well as a debuffer combo. And we can’t forget Diamant + Ike. The one hit wonder combo.
Okay, now I can FINALLY move on to Fortune’s Weave. I did say I would play it after my first run of FEE Maddening. But I got sidetracked by Engage’s fun-ness.
