So let me set the scene..
It’s 4:32pm, my fan at the stow station ain’t working right, there’s barely anything being sent to my station to stow, my back brace is loose, and my knee brace is hugging my ankle.. so I’m standing there hot asf staring at the pods passing by me
Out of nowhere this dude wearing a green vest and a open laptop* comes up and “hey, quick question, are those safety shoes?”
I’m like “.. yeah why..”
“Really?”
“😐😐 I got em straight from Zappos. Why?”
“Oh nah nah just making sure, they clean tho😁”
“.. thank you?”
“That just mean you not working hard enough hahaha”
“.. oh okay..”
And then he nods and walks away.. wtf was that about 😭😭😭
I’ve never stepped foot in this building without safety shoes and I have no coachings or write ups or anything so idk where that came from😭

Not even him pretending to have something important to do. You probably recently had an injury related to not wearing safety shoes and the corrective action tied to that is a certain number of sporadic checks for safety shoes. The "not working hard enough" comment was out of pocket though lol.

Aint that deep. Your shoes just don't look like a lot of other peoples work shoes so they were verifying that you had safety shoes.

Fresh out the box FAWK NO. I had to get different insoles bc the ones they came with were hurting so bad, they had NO support. I’m using dr scholl’s tri comfort massaging gel ones rn but I’m gonna switch to another pair soon I wore these out.

At the end of the year, they send people around to see if everyone has used their Zappos money this year or not, because it resets in January and you lose it if you don't use it.
I can't explain the awkward conversation (maybe you made him feel awkward with your warm, friendly demeanor, and he was just trying to ease the tension). But this is going to happen multiple times before the end of December, so you might as well get used to it instead of reporting it to Reddit every week.
