The neck and frets are wonderful, and I love the feel of the baked maple. The action was set up low and was perfect right out of the box. Weight and balance are also excellent.
The paint finish is about what I expected for the price point. The bridge is a great design and super easy to use/tune. Quality isn’t the same as hipshot but the price of this guitar is way less than most in the same league.
My biggest complaints are with the ergonomics. The control layout is too close to my picking hand and gets in the way. The strings also sit much closer to the body than on my other guitars, and I sometimes scratch the body with my fingers when strumming. This only applies to certain sections of songs but caught me off guard.
The forearm contour doesn’t work particularly well for me either. I wish it were more aggressive for added comfort.
Overall, the Omne has a lot going for it, especially the neck, fretwork, and playability, but some of the design choices could be improved.
For an understanding of where I’m coming from, I’m comparing the Omne to my current guitars - Mayones Regius 7, Schecter USA AM7, Strandberg Prog 6 and past guitars - Aristides 070, EBMM Sabre, Mayones Duvell, Strandberg OS7 (Korean).
The fretwork is wonderful compared to the immaculate work on the Schecter and Mayones. The neck is way better than the Strandberg and I wish it were an option on my prog.
To be fair, I sold the Aristides due to weight and the forearm contour which didn’t suit me. This is more comfortable than that for the way I play. It’s not bad but could be better.
Fishmans aren’t for everyone. I like them and had them on a previous guitar. They make plugins sound great without the mud that I get from my bare knuckles without the need for aggressive EQ (specifically the low string).
I’ll be keeping the guitar and maybe making some tweaks to it since I only dabble with 7-strings.
