The one where Ray records the football game over the wedding

• Upvotes

OMG, while I understand that a wedding video is a record of an important event and wonderful memories, was there a need for Deborah to be so overly dramatic and violent? In fact, they had a lovely lunch and her husband is talking about spending a romantic evening together and all she can say is ā€œ what did you do to My wedding videoā€

She wants to ruin a lovely wedding anniversary with a fight because her wedding video was lost. Does anybody see the irony in that? Lol

Favorite Insults in ELR?

One of my favorites is when Marie calls Frank a "stupid ass" in the episode where she, Debra, and Amy were dealing with the fallout of the wedding invitations. It's the way she said it that even got the live audience laughing. What are your favorite insults?

Marie's Outfits

Has anyone else ever noticed how Marie ALWAYS wore a black top with a different type of blouse over it in every episode?? This is basically the only thing I like about her, her clothes. Does anyone know why she always wore that tye of clothing??

Debra was awful in this episode.

Ray specifically tells her not to touch his things, she tells him to put them away so when thanks to Robert, Ray gets a letter from Muhammad Ali, he remembers to save it before he leaves and Debra just throws it away without going through the papers, first. I was with Ray during this episode, so glad he repeated once again how Debra was in the wrong and to NOT TOUCH HIS THINGS.

All this time I'd seen the finale and never even knew

Watched ELR on Channel 4 in the UK over the years and had seen a lot of it, but not sure how much exactly. As with a lot of US sitcoms in the UK, it gets shown sporadically at awkward times, and rarely in order and you never know which season you're in. Been watching it sequentially on-demand and just watched the finale, which I now realise I'd seen years ago and processed as just any other random episode. Oh well. The final scene made more sense at least!

Marie’s lipstick

Marie’s fluorescent lipstick always stuck out to me. She usually wears a nice red but sometimes she has an almost neon color on.
Would anyone know the color???

It won’t look good on me but I need to know what it’s called!!

I don’t even think the pic does the neon justice

Actors You Were Surprised to Be in ELR

I was very surprised to see Bob Odenkirk as one of Ray's friends (I think from HS?) when I was rewatching ELR on Youtube. Who were you surprised to see?

Frank And Marie

In your opinion, what was the worst thing that Frank and Marie has ever done in the show?? Has anyone's parents ever done something that reminded them of Frank and Marie??

Was Robert popular or not in school?

On many episodes it was portrayed as if Robert was popular. He peaked in high school. Like in the Ray's school reunion episode, everyone knew him and talked big about him and he spoke about the popular girl as just a "great kid" and behaved as if he's above it and very confident. But in the episode with Ally bullying in the bus he said he was bullied and mocked Debra for being a popular kid and said she doesn't know how it's like. What do you think?

Genuinely Scary Moments?

ELR makes me laugh all the time, but there were some moments where I get genuinely scared, which shows the amazing abilities of the cast. My main one is when Debra yells at Ray for his weaponized incompetence and brings up diapers. "DIAPERS!" The way she screamed it gave me flashbacks and nightmares, since I have a thing about yelling. What are your genuinely scary moments?

ELR x Sopranos

Since both shows came out around the same time and near the same area (North-East), I wondered how a cross-over episode or even arc of these two shows would go. I always think that against someone like Carmela, Debra, Marie, and Amy would ABSOLUTELY team up (and as a family person myself, I would be very worried if a family like the Sopranos would come into my neighborhood, just by vibes alone), and I can only imagine what Tony would have done in regards to Ray or Robert at their jobs. Now I'm getting worried for the Barones, haha.

Fun fact: the actor of Richie Aprile was in both shows, which inspired this post.

Kids' Futures

If we are only going by the show and not real life (RIP Sawyer Sweeten) had the show continued on and explored how the kids grew up, what do you think that each kid would have become?

I recently aksed which movies were mentioned in ELR. Many films were named, but no one mentioned this episode. Which movie does Ally quote? What other movie was mentioned in this episode?

Which In-Laws were the craziest?

Everyone has their quirks (and unbalanced screen time), but if you had to live with any of the in laws, who would you pick and why? I feel like there is something to be happy and unhappy about with each of them (then again, that would be the case with every family).

They should have put out a cookbook of Marie’s recipes or recipes based on the show.

Ok so obviously as a fan I’ve seen both of the anniversary episodes BUT I had never seen the final taping on YouTube?! It’s ā€œEverybody Lives Raymond: The Final Taping…it’s comical and great and down to earth. Patti got laryngitis so they had to postpone so the audience had to leave.

I remember a specific scene from ELR but can't find it anywhere on the internet. Please help!

I distinctly remember a scene from Everybody Loves Raymond where the family (Ray, Robert, Frank, Marie, and Debra) were all in a casket together. All dressed nice, all lying there next to each other, bantering and whatnot. I think it was either a dream scene (possibly Debra's bad dream) as a kicker at the end of an episode, or possibly some kind of goofy promotional skit that wasn't actually part of an episode. The joke was like even after you're dead, you still can't get away from them, or this family is so close, they're even buried together... I've watched the whole series on streaming and syndication a lot over the years, but I don't remember seeing this scene since the original airing days. I've tried searching the internet, but I never find anything, and Google AI summary tells me that I'm wrong and must be confusing something from the episodes Six Feet Under and Gus' Funeral. I don't think I'm confused though. I asked my parents if they remember it, and without giving it a second thought they both said yes. Maybe it's buried (no pun intended) in a deleted scene section of a DVD? It's certainly too obscure to exist on the internet (which would explain why google AI doesn't know about it). If anyone remembers this and can corroborate, please let me know! If you don't remember such a scene, please try not to be so MOCKULATORY!
