Finally

I’ve always wanted a classic .Earlier this year I kept looking and looking for something reasonable off fb market place. After months of searching and miss opportunities I came across a listing up in san francisco in August . Took a one way flight and drove all the way back home to Los Angeles . Got it a day after my birthday funny enough .
I drive a civic daily so it was a waaaay different ride but I haven’t had this much fun driving in such a long time since until I drove it back home . Got lucky with a very sincere and thoughtful seller . Kept it well taken care of even had the OG 69 plates .
A month ago I started to try and daily drive it ( not ideal given how hot LA’s been and this thing guzzles gas like a mf)but currently driving it 3-4 times a week .

Got my rear side decals back on. I used automotive paint safe goof off and 3M super strength double sided tape for decals. I used exacto knifes and a flush cutter to cut the tape and get inside the hard to reach stuff. I had a plastic scraper to try and get the old adhesive off safely and ran those down to a nub as some of the old adhesive was still super sealed on. Overall very happy with these back on.

Finally getting around to some MUCH needed love. Old bushings were so worn out my control arms would wiggle, 3 out of my 4 ball joints were junk and my driver side wheel bearing was going out. So out with the old in with the new!

S10 front spindles and brakes, Aldan American coilovers and a Detroit axle front end rebuild kit. Also got new bumper fillers and repainted and repaired my chin spoiler :)

Rear side badges fell off

Thank goodness this happened in my garage, they just fell off when I touched both. What’s the best way to safely get this 40 year old adhesive off and what modern decal adhesive should I use?

I’m rebuilding my steering column and want to replace my dash. Anyone know where I can find a ‘long sweep style’ dash from? I have a 1980 elcamino. I plan on ordering this digital Dakota item aswell. So I wanna make sure it’ll all be compatible

So, I got a new edelbrock intake for the zz4 in my 1987 el Camino and found this laying in the valley after pulling the old intake off...anyone know what it is? It was dry, and rusty. It was laying smack dab in the middle of that ......separator plate that runs the length of the engine

Found a good show that happens every Friday night. Anyone can come here so it’s always a mix of different cool cars.

This gal just got this white 83 a month ago and is a work in progress and wants to learn more. Reminds me of how I started with these. Good to help one another with the problems and gremlins these old trucks have 40 years later.

Hi guys, I am about to test drive and potentially purchase this El Camino. I know it has a missing AC and I will need to spend money on that. Can you guys give me your honest opinion on the overall shape of this vehicle? I appreciate you

I replaced the intake in the zz4 that came in my el camino last night. As soon as i pulled off the old intake i found this just casually sitting on that .......plate that runs the length of the engine in the middle... Anyone know what this is? and how important it may be? cause i just went on with the job, and would be done but for rain....

Does Ford's Ranchero have a chance against Chevrolet's El Camino in 1966?😃

Needing passenger side door weather stripping

Is there any good affordable alternatives for door weather seals for a 66 El Camino? Because I only need to replace the passenger side. Don’t ask what happened to the seal on the passenger side. And the fact that I only paid $56.17 back in November 2021 for a set; the LH & RH weather stripping. Because unfortunately now they are $114.85 for a set! They are the exact same ones from the exact same seller! It’s ridiculous how fast the price went up on these just within 5 years. Ughhhh!! 😩 Unless someone is kind enough to sell me just the passenger-side door seal. That might have an extra one laying around that they are not using. Thanks!

1983 3.8 wiring harness

I recently got a 83 Conquista with the 3.8 v6 and the wiring looks like a rat and a possum either fought, fucked, or both in the wiring side of things. So if anyone knows a good harness to go with I’ll gladly take all the help I can get

Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor

Does anyone know where I can buy an engine coolant temperature sensor for my 1982 El Camino? It has a 305 and a temperature needle in dashboard. It says a Standard Ignition TS 76 is what it needs. Tried swapping them today and the new one is too big. It requires a 3/4 socket to tighten down, while the current one is a 9/16. O’Reilly’s Auto Part had nothing close to what I need. Any assistance is much appreciated.

The time has come

Hey all

I am the proud owner of a sweet 69. My baby has been sitting covered for the better part of the last 20 years, and the time has finally come to start (slowly) restoring her to her former glory. I am in no rush to attain cherry. More concerned with A to B and back again for now.

I've got somewhat strong novice level mechanic skills and will be picking up the service manual to make sure I am doing everything right.

That said, as I've been out of the loop for a while, I'm curious to know what y'all's preferred method of sourcing parts is. Any other general tips? Thanks in advance!
