Devolution spray has only ever been seen in the trading card game but I am committed to it being canon, safe, cheap, and easily available. While it's never been seen or referenced in the games, no game ever explicitly states that evolution is permanent.
Though fan oc pokemon with baleful evolution backstories hate the idea that it would be easily fixable lol
Well pokemon that gain a type and tms after evolving would be able to give it back to their base form.
Also the Eeveelutions would be massively buffed. Their current problem is really bad coverage moves, like jolteon having to run tera ice for coverage, but this would fix all of that
Now I'm imagining it being used once as foul in a pokemon battle against an opponent's pokemon, and getting banned.

I feel like using it consistently on an Eevee might fuck up it's biology. Like it might stop transforming since its body clearly isn't being allowed to safely evolve, so it stops entirely.
maybe those evolution stones are also naturally occuring and some eevee choose to evolve by themselves or went too close to them... cause there are wild evolved eevees in stories i read...
Umbreon is friendship at night.
Espeon is friendship at day.
Sylveon is max affection with a fairy move.
Leafeon is evolved near a mossy rock.
Glaceon is evolved near an icy rock.
aaaaah ok so I was close with the first two, the 3rd not so much. Leafeon and Glaceon depend on terrain. interesting thanks :)
it sounds like 5 out of 8 are done naturally
but from another comment it sounds like Flareon, Vaporeon, and Jolteon can only be done by stones? with them being the original eeveelutions, you'd think by now there's some other way
I try not to force it, mainly cause I like to not miss out on moves I may want on the stone evolutions. Pikachu to Raichu is a similar case, I won’t rush it just to make sure I can get thunderbolt before doing so.
"Keep your stones to yourself" Well, you'd think it was crack mixed with gold the way Marshmallow jumped onto that fire stone. That boy hatched wanting to be a flareon and not even Arceus Herself could stop him
Always make sure your eevee has a everstone in their fluff to prevent any water stones being thrown at them when someone wants to force an evolution you didn't want. In this way, your eevee can choose with out worrying too much about touching them or any non stone evolutions.
