Trivia nights?
Hi Easton,
Which bars/restaurants/breweries have the best weekly trivia nights? I’d like to start going to one regularly. Preference is for general trivia- rather than each night have a specific theme which seems to be the case at Rivals.
Thanks in advance!

Easton looks like it should be thriving. Why doesn’t it feel that way?
I actually like Easton and want to see it succeed, but I don’t know, the more time I spend here the more I feel like something just isn’t clicking.
Full transparency, I’m from New York. I’m not a local, but I do have investments here, so obviously I want to see the city do well. But when I come out here and spend time in the area, especially downtown, it’s just kind of… meh.
Outside of Garlic Fest and some of the other festivals, and the hit-or-miss flea market, what is really bringing people downtown consistently?
Businesses seem to come and go constantly. Something opens, you start getting used to it, then a year or two later it’s gone, moved somewhere else, changed concepts, or has odd hours. It’s hard for a downtown to build an identity when nothing seems to stick around long enough to become part of that identity.
And that’s what’s weird about Easton because it has so much potential. The history is here. The architecture is here. The location is great. Downtown is walkable. There’s been a ton of development. It has all the ingredients to be this really cool boutique little city, but it still feels like it hasn’t figured out exactly what it wants to be.
Then you have all the apartments and development that have gone up. It feels like Easton was betting on attracting people from New York, North Jersey, Philly, etc., and priced some of the new development accordingly. But if that was the plan, where was the transportation investment to go along with it? You can build apartments and charge higher rents, but without something like a real passenger rail connection, how many people are realistically going to relocate here and commute regularly?
Meanwhile, those higher prices affect the people who were already living here. So you end up raising the cost of living for locals while apparently not getting as many of the new residents/workers that were projected. This article is actually what made me think about all of this again:
https://www.lehighvalleylive.com/easton/2026/08/not-as-many-moving-to-and-working-in-easton-as-predicted-and-its-affecting-city-finances.html
Even dealing with the city has kind of added to that feeling for me. As a landlord, I’ve tried working with the Easton Housing Authority to get a property approved so I could accept Section 8 tenants, and the process has been frustrating. Limited/odd hours, slow communication, trouble getting responses, etc. I’m literally trying to participate in a program that helps people find housing and sometimes it feels unnecessarily difficult just to figure out what the next step is.
None of these things individually are some huge deal. It’s more the culmination of everything. Easton looks like a place that should be thriving more than it is. It has the location, history, architecture, development and potential. But sometimes it feels like they focused so much on building what Easton could become that they skipped over building the infrastructure, businesses, services and everyday reasons for people to actually stay and spend time here.
Maybe I’m looking at it through New York eyes and expecting too much. Like I said, I’m invested here, so I’m definitely not rooting against Easton. I actually want the opposite.
But does anyone else feel like Easton has all the ingredients and somehow still just doesn’t quite get it?
P.S. I still miss the cinnamon roll/bakery spot 😂 And seriously, how many coffee shops do we need in less than a one-mile radius? Tapestry, Agamo Bakery Cafe, Heavenly, Glazed, Repeater, Vera list goes on.

Looking for an In-Home Tutor – Tatamy Area
We’re looking for a friendly, patient, and dependable tutor to work with our son, who is entering 1st grade, at our home in the Tatamy area.
Our main goal isn’t just getting homework done — we’d like to establish good homework and study habits early. We’re looking for someone who can help him develop a consistent after-school routine, stay organized and focused, and build confidence with reading, writing, math, and whatever he is working on in school.
He has ADHD, so experience working with children with ADHD is strongly preferred. Someone who is patient, engaging, and comfortable finding creative ways to keep a young child focused would be a great fit.
Schedule:
1 hour per day, 2–4 days per week
Monday–Thursday
Flexible start time between 2:30–4:30 PM
Looking to start within the next few weeks
Pay:
$40/hour for tutoring
$50/hour if the session also incorporates a music or a second language lesson
Piano would be our first choice for music, but we’re flexible and would also be interested in someone who could introduce him to another instrument or a second language.
We’re open to teachers/professional tutors and college students (especially education or related majors). Previous experience tutoring, teaching, babysitting, coaching, or otherwise working one-on-one with elementary-age children is important. A background check will be required before beginning work.
We’re hoping to find someone who can be a consistent, positive presence throughout the school year rather than just short-term homework help.
If you’re interested, please send me a message with a little about yourself, your experience working with kids, your availability, and any experience you have with ADHD, music, or languages. References would be appreciated!
