Patch Notes 10/13
**Update 10-13-2026**
**General**
* Fixed an issue where attempting to save Barbarian face customizations would fail.
**Raid Resuming**
* Each boss in a raid with a lockout timer is now a checkpoint and once killed. Any spawn point tied to this boss's timer will not spawn when you resume the raid. While this is not particularly useful in today's content, this will be useful in later content.
* The replay timer requirement for joining a group member's raid has also been removed. However, you will not receive loot from bosses if you have already killed that boss today.
**NOTE:** If a player joins another player's resumed raid and has a boss you shouldn't get loot on yet due to lockouts you will be able to kill the boss but will receive no loot for that boss.
You will receive the same total possible loot per day/week as before, but there are now more options to assist your friends.
**AAs**
* Widened Perceptions now works correctly after you switch to a low-level loadout.
* Unbound Cascade now adds to your base critical damage. Before this fix, it actually lowered your crit damage.
**Pets**
* Pets with equipped items now use new and improved damage and delay calculations. When picking a pet weapon, its ratio now matters much more than its base damage.
* Player pet damage no longer applies weapon damage bonus to items that no longer exist.
* Increased the level cap for upgraded player pets from player level - 1 to player level.
**Achievements**
* The Kobold-slaying achievement now names the continent of Odus instead of Gloomingdeep.
**Spells**
* Magical Monologue no longer appears in the Bard song list.

What?

u/xaldarin 2d ago
Sounds like it was taking a snapshot of weapon bonus damage, and now it won't do that.

u/Vile-goat 2d ago
So essentially for pets all around the safest bet is probably to mote two warrior weps to +10? Dagas and the dot proc one maybe?
6
u/pants_full_of_pants 2d ago
Or sunderfury since that would also free up a haste item slot and offhand slot for more AC or a regen item
2
u/Berserker2c 2d ago
I like monsoon, sword of the swindwind as a similar option because it also has haste, a very similar ratio as sunderfury, and the added benefit of +str and +sta stats (though I think stamina doesn't effect the pet).

u/KeeferMaddness 1d ago
Is the haste from Monsoon applying correctly? I also didn’t seem to great DPS out of it
1
u/Berserker2c 1d ago
My lvl 46 SHM pet is hitting for 185 with it at +6 FWIW, which seems pretty solid to me.

Cool cool. Would be great if they actually elaborated on that. I suspect it isn't exactly like a player choosing a weapon for themselves, or they would have just said that.

Discord has a few people throwing out a few numbers. Khyldorn +10 necro let hitting for 223 max on dummy. Air pet w cudgel of the fool did 206 dps. Probably a legit upgrade so far.

u/Far-Subject7615 2d ago edited 2d ago
Air pet is war/mnk. How did it use the Cudgel?
Edit: Thanks for the responses. I didn't know pet adds your classes to weapons it can use.

Vague patch notes is a very classic experience

u/BaronMusclethorpe 2d ago
During my preliminary testing, my Fangol +10 hits harder (max hit) than my Earthshaker +10, which doesn't make any sense. This is for the Beastlord pet.

u/fissilematerials 2d ago
Nice—looks like my Necro dots will do a bit more dps.
1
u/DenseHole 2d ago
Do Necro dots benefit? The AAsays the Shamans dots.

u/fissilematerials 2d ago edited 2d ago
You might be right. I confused Unbound Cascade with Critical Affliction. Or Unbound Affliction. Ignore me lol
1
u/DenseHole 2d ago
It may actually work per other commenters but I plan on testing it myself to see if it works.
2
u/Chawp 2d ago
Theres a lot of Nec/Shm builds that benefit from both crit dmg and crit chance
0
u/DenseHole 2d ago
I'm in the process of building that myself right now but I guess I'll have to test it myself. My question wasn't if DoT crit/crit damage worked on both classes. It was if the specific Shaman AA that raises DoT crit damage for Shaman spells would work on Necro spells.
3
u/Chawp 2d ago
I think the wording is a little vague, but the DOT crit chance / crit damage should apply to all DOTs you can cast while you have a necro/shaman in your trio. I don’t think they are saying it only applies to the shaman-only DOTs (eg Odium).
In a similar way, crit chance for DD spells from Wizard also works on necro / SK lifetaps when you have wizard in your trio.

Magical Monologue? What was that?
Edit: it was a level 9 bard song that enabled non-magical weapons to harm monsters affected only by magical weapons. Which I guess isn't a thing in eql.
11
u/sc2convection 2d ago
An ancient spell added in Luclin that let you turn non-magical weapons into magical ones.
Since the concept of a Magical weapon was removed in EQ Live awhile ago and EQL built off that, it was functionally useless.
8
u/BikkinMahal 2d ago
Back in the day, creatures flagged as pure magic could only be hit by weapons tagged as magical. A good example was willowisps. A big accomplishment in classic EQ was getting a magic weapon so you could kill them for greater lightstones to begin to make some money.
EQ carried this theme forward into bane weapons in Luclin, where you could only hit raid bosses like Lord Inquisitor Seru or Emperor Ssraeszha if you had crafted a special weapon with Shissar Bane or Seru Bane.
EQ eventually went away from this, as it just made raids not bring melee to those fights, and EQL kept the theme of no specifically tagged mobs that require special items to damage.

u/Funny_Personality606 2d ago
Combine Longsword and Dwarven Work Boots. I could finally slice and kick willowisps!

u/redditzphkngarbage 2d ago
Remember the first time I attacked a willowisp and couldn’t damage it so I died. Was somewhat infuriating because it was such a slow death.

I'm leveling a MAG build right now. I can't wait to test this once I get home from work!

u/powa1216 2d ago
So this is a Nerf to Earthshaker+9 +10 ? Of course we will need people to test
20
u/Arria_Galtheos 2d ago
Well, it's a nerf in some aspects. It gets rid of the trick where you give your pet a high damage weapon but they still use their base delay. The flipside is that now you can give your pet a pair of high-ratio one-handers and it actually makes a difference.
I think overall it's a positive change, even if it does remove some niche loadouts.
5
u/TheCuriousCorsair 2d ago
Cool, don't need to burn out my angle grinder on old man Yael anymore lol
1
u/TheMicker999 2d ago
Nothing got nerfed, the earthshaker does mode dps now also. It just allowed other weapons to increase the pet dps more also. Now the best ratio weapons, will do the most dps, which they should
2
u/Wide-Start-6422 2d ago
Did two medium length tests with a lvl 50 necro pet+10, summoned with pet focus (Encyclopdeia Necrotheurgia).
TEST (1) (old setup), 9min 53s - 2H: Earthshaker+9 (ratio 1.000)
- Pet stats: 487 ATK, 171 Haste, 392 STR, 250 DEX
- Pet Gear: Earthshaker+9 with both Torrid Corrupter Exaltations (bash + procc), Belt of the Four Winds+6 (47% haste), rest was Indicolite Gear+7, focus on STR
RESULT: exactly 150 DPS (up from ~130dps before patch) with a 73% hit rate. The pet made 352 rounds of attack which equals a delay of ~16.8 which is in the expected range of the pet's 28 base delay with +71% haste.
TEST (2), 10min 16s - Dual Wield: Bloodmoon+10 (ratio 1.286) + Dagas+10 (ratio 1.048)
- Pet stats: 499 ATK, 171 haste, 410 STR, 250 DEX (higher ATK compared to Test (1) due to more STR on both weapons)
- Pet Gear Bloodmoon+10 with both Torrid Corruptor Exaltations (bash + procc), Dagas+10 (Ykesha procc), rest same haste belt and same gear as Test (1) minus the boots which were removed to make room for Dagas (boots do not have STR and only affected the pet's AC)
RESULT: again... exactly 150 DPS (up from ~118dps pre patch) with a 67% hit rate. The pet made 364 rounds of attack which equals a combined delay of ~16.9 which is - again - in the expected range of 28 base delay with +71% haste
....so, you decide which is better. Earthshaker is still very much viable and Dual Wield simply caught up to the 2H option

Dagas doesn't have a good ratio, neither does Bloodmoon compared to Wu's and that PAL weapon...they are around 1.5 range, should produce a lot more DPS, u used 2 weapons close to ratio was Earthshaker, some mega nerd who has all the best weapons to +10 needs to do a proper test...the real test would be a +10 Fangol vs 2 wu 10's, for exmaple

u/Demonspawn 1d ago
My duo friend has Wu's +10/8 and put those on air pet X. It was some insane pet DPS last night. I was racing his pet and he was racing mine (necro X w/ +10 Aldryn +6 Dagas).
Was a nice change from both of us curbstoping both pets in the DPS department. We had a blast with the races as many were close.

Dang, I just moted mine up too. I hope it’s at least not a nerf. Would be cool if better weapons could do even more damage though.

I’m really hoping beastlord pets gained a bonus level w the pet level change. I doubt it though.

u/AdditionalPuddings 2d ago
Does anyone have ideas on the use cases for the Raid timer respawn change? I’m not yet at end game but this sounds like it will be an interesting QoL for the future.
8
u/nucleardemon 2d ago
It’s good if you did your raids for the day and a buddy wants help. I think that’s how I read it anyways.
9
u/Business-Top-52 2d ago edited 2d ago
Wonder if you can still get ticks for kills. Like you kill Phinny five times. Join a friends raid and kill him five more times and get 10 ticks instead of max five per day toward his 50 kills. Same with Dragons and their 250 kills.
1
u/PerfSynthetic 2d ago
Please test this and report back! I'm away so cannot test ATM ugh!!
1
u/Business-Top-52 2d ago
I dont have any friends that play. Will maybe see if I can get a guild to see if it'll work.
1
u/Demonspawn 1d ago
Haven't tested it personally, but a guildie told me he got dragon credit helping another guildie do D4 (again for first guildie).

Question: why is my level 50 pet capped at 171 haste? Anyone heard anything about this? (Friend's air pet was capped at 181, so it's not just me.)
1
u/nucleardemon 1d ago
Haste caps for pets at 171 now that they can be lvl 50 (170 for any at lvl 49). That’s just the natural cap. Mage can give frenzied burnout for an extra 10% overhaste.
1
u/Demonspawn 1d ago
But my haste cap at 50 is 175. It's been this way for every trio I've gotten to 50 (other than trios with monk getting 185).
Is this a dual class vs triple class thing?

All these patch notes should have been done in the beta.
0
u/Lars_Rakett 2d ago
No clue why this is getting downvoted. All this basic stuff and bug fixes should have been weeded out after any amount of basic playtesting.
-4
u/TopDeckHero420 2d ago
Only blind praise for anything and everything is acceptable here.
5
u/xaldarin 2d ago
Because games never patch post release, eh?
The only one that could be argued is the pet damage change, we knew pets sucked in beta. The rest are just bug fixes. There will always be bug fixes, every patch, the entirety a game exists.

Yeah that makes sense since they didn't have anything else to do at all. It's almost as if they prioritized tasks, freaking weird right? /s

I just logged in for a sec to test my enchanter pet using a plus 10 Aldryns while I'm leveling in SolB. The level 39 pet was slashing for 150. It was 80 last night, so this seems very promising. Can't wait to test it on the higher level pet.
