Reddit has announced they will be closing the API that apps like Dystopia use to interact with Reddit’s servers. This is the latest in a series of moves against 3rd party apps, they blame AI bots but I’m sure it’s because they can’t sell ads to users on the API and there must be such a small percentage of users left using it that it’s not worth it’s maintenance

Would it be possible to automatically open the preview.Reddit images?

On a thread that’s like show us your pet. It’s annoying having to click the link every time to see the image. Whereas on other apps it’s possible to see the image directly in the comments.

Dystopia uses almost 1 GB of storage on my phone. I am sight abled, but browse Reddit mostly for reading instead of photo- or video-heavy subs, don’t go on r/all very often. So I’m wondering how this cache grew so big. Also curious if a clear cache option could be implemented or am I just not finding it?

Edit: reinstalling the app reset the storage size, but I’m going to keep an eye on it.

Got an odd msg in my mod mail. No clue if this matters or if my greatest fear is coming to fruition, they are about to bomb the old API.

hi. I'm new to this app and I'm curious to know how to reply to people's threads so if I go into a thread and I see a bunch of things commented on I don't want to reply to somebody's comment, but I do want to reply to the thread altogether without replying to someone else's comment how do I do that because I'm finding that pressing reply, usually ends up, making me reply on somebody else's comment and sometimes I don't even see the edit box where you go to type your comment in. It doesn't show up at the bottom so how then do I reply to someone's Reddit thread without replying to everybody's comments because I am noticing that you know when I go to hit reply, usually it replies on someone else's thread, but it replies, making someone else's comment like focused on it and I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong.

Is it possible to collapse all but the top-level comments in a thread?

Reddit is rolling out age verification. This is a third party app. Will it stop working? I can't use reddit on mobile or my laptop. They say the app is useable now. I still can't figure it out. Is there other platforms like this if I can't stay here? I know reddit doesn't like third party apps.

Hi, I'm from Malaysia and I'm using the app for about seven years now. It really simplifies Reddit for me and has supported me throughout many years to go through my thousands of subreddits. I feel like there are many potentials for this app, and many feature requests in here are valid and could be included.

I'm not sure whether the developers are looking towards extending the app's capability. If the development process is to be discontinued, I would suggest to open source the code base, to make the source code modifiable and accessible to the public, , so that people can continue the development and bring a dignified, independent access to the Reddit ecosystem.

If anyone knows the developer personally, do send this suggestion to them and feel free to reach out to me personally through this platform if you need any more clarification. Any criticisms or feedback are much appreciated.

This has worked before but had to uninstall and reinstall Dystopia. Now I can’t add my account. Push add account, gets redirected to the browser, log in there but when I get redirected to Dystopia again nothing happens. On IOS and tried a couple of different browsers, but same result. Does anyone know how to fix?

Trying to scroll and read/upvote posts. App crashes. After restart, I see the same posts in the same order. Like I never upvoted the posts. This is after the latest iOS update.

How can I set Distopia to keep sticky thread on top of a sub?

I'm getting a lot of junk in my feed. Can I bring up the option to show fewer posts like that? The trash is in my front page and regular feed. Starting to get mad.

I feel this application is going shit hole although very accessible but have lost the functionality of sending someone ADM, because whenever I do this I cannot send it. What is the solution? I believe this is because of Reddit api but of course I mean I shouldn’t have to rely on other applications.

I'm using distopia on a Iphone 13 with Voiceover. I allways sort my subreddits from new to old. Is it possible to change the sort setting once to new that all subreddits show the newest items first?

I keep my phone on silent at all times because the notification noises are too obnoxious. Unfortunately that also means I can't hear anything when playing videos in Dystopia no matter what I do with the volume. Is there any way to change this? Quite a few apps play music and videos just fine in silent mode so I'm not sure what's different there.

(Before anyone says turn off silent mode, you should turn on Voiceover and tell me how quick that process is now that the silent switch is no longer on iPhone.)

Is there an option to clear the image cache? I don’t see anything in the settings. I’d like to have something because after years of use the storage space used by Dystopia had ballooned to over 1GB and I had to uninstall and reinstall + login again just to clear all the old cache data.

Hi all, I'm new to both Reddit and Dystopia so please bear with me here…

What's the best way of creating posts using Dystopia? Obviously I have managed it as I'm using it to post this, but in the official Reddit app, there is a create post option within the main tabs of the app, and you can search for subreddits, select which one you want to post to, set whether you want it to be cross-posted etc from there. With Dystopia, am I right in thinking that you have to go to the subreddit first, then click submit and create a post that way?

As of about two weeks ago, Dystopia has stopped working for me, regardless of what I do. I’ve re-downloaded the app, restarted my phone, and re-logged into my accounts. Every time I try to access the app, it simply informs me that the data cannot be read because it’s not in the correct format.

I am on a iPhone 17 Pro on iOS 26, but I think I was having this issue before that.

I didn't change a single setting, but all of a sudden my front page is all fucked up and has the exact same posts as r/all. So now my front page is littered with subs I don't even care about. Anyone else dealing with this or have an idea how to fix it?

It seems that recently Reddit changed things so that, when you block another user, you are still forced to see their posts and comments. Is there any way that Dystopia can get around this?

Absolutely love this app. If it ever goes down that will be the end of my time on Reddit.
