Rappers having writers is obviously a controversial topic in hip hop discourse, but why do fans pick and choose when to disqualify certain artists?

The average hip hop fan will disqualify Drake for using writers on club records, but not Kanye, who has taken entire songs.

And before you say “well Kanye is a producer, not a rapper,” there are other examples. It’s widely known that Biggie wrote for Lil Kim, who was considered one the best woman lyricist of her era. Ghostface also used lyrics written by Method Man. Ray Luv said he wrote a song that Tupac used.

Why do so many fans move the goalpost when it’s convenient?

Now obviously we all know that people love to exile Drake from the conversation of best rappers/MCs. What do y'all think people tend to over look about Drake's skillset as a rapper? Most people have guys like Nas, Jay Z, Kendrick, Cole, Eminem, MF Doom etc in the conversation, but Drake often gets excluded. Those of you that are into hip hop, what are these people missing?
