Hey guys, simple question... my daughter has submitted everything, and she's hoping for Early Decision. She isn't on Reddit, so I figured I'd ask here. For her TV / Film Production program, it lists the Portfolio as "optional."
In your opinion, is it worth it for her to do the portfolio? Do you think there's a chance that it could actually hurt her?
If you guys don't mind me bragging, she actually has a YouTube channel where she restores classic cars. There are videos where she's actually tearing apart, rebuilding, and installing a motor (she literally does it ALL herself). She's monetized, and even went up to congress to lobby with SEMA lawyers for "Right to Repair" and "Right to Race" (ensures individuals have the right to repair their own vehicles, and eliminates subscription lockouts and open-sourcing the ECMs, etc.... also supports rights to maintain race tracks. It's totally bi-partisan for what it's worth, but I'm concerned that maybe if someone in Westphal doesn't like cars or something, they'll cut her.
She also does short films, like one she did at the home with a zombie attacking her in a dystopian (day after) scenario. This was just for fun, and they're all really well done. I can post some if anyone is interested, I just don't want to do the advertising thing because I'm generally interested. I mean, she's 17, so she does this all in between every other friggin' thing she volunteered for at school and all her sports and two orchestras.
She like... REALLY wants to get into this program... is an optional portfolio, really "optional?" ... and can it actually hurt her?
Thank you!
