For those of you with Discover Bank account (checking and/or savings) - it looks like Capital One has posted updates to their bank account FAQ website that now mentions checking accounts and some details about what those accounts will look like after they are migrated.
Webpage previously focused on just Discover savings account migrations.

Hey, I already have a Capital One credit card, so I use the Capital One app regularly. Will my Discover card be added to my existing account? How will that work?

For context:
I tried to use Zelle to send money to a relative. After authenticating via a SMS with a 6 digit code. I am asked to provide my ID. I follow the steps and the camera never opens on the mobile browser...
Anyone having this issue as well?
I already tried several mobile browsers to see if that was the issue and also used WiFi and/or 5G Data.
Thank you

The 5% for this quarter includes the “entertainment” category. Can anyone confirm if Ticketmaster purchases are categorized as “entertainment” for the Discover card to get that 5%?

My spouse and I both have our own separate discover credit cards/accounts. My card transitioned in July to capital one, and everything went fine. His will transition October 19th. My question is- he has me manage his card, including using my mobile number for verifications/text alerts etc. I of course use my number for my own account too. Will that mess anything up for him(me) making and accessing his new capital one app? Does he need to change it to his number now in the discover app before it transitions? I've heard that it could cause issues with accessing and setting up his online account with capital one, so I'm looking for anyone who's been through this and knows? TIA

In comes an email from Crapital One: "CONGRATS! Redeem $45 on us. You earned it!"
Now, honestly, $45 isn't that much since Covid inflation, but I already have Discover set up in my Amazon account, so as a bonus just for clicking an email, that's nice.
Guess what? They need me to install some crapware browser extension before I get my #45.
I've been a Discover customer for 18 years and this is how they reward me.

Hey guys I submitted a payment to Discover yesterday and I thought I did it after 5:00 pm. so I didn’t put the money in my checking account since I thought that it wouldn’t Post on the next day since I did it after 5:00 PM. i got an email saying it Declined. Will it try again on the next day to take the money out or do I have to call customer service to reauthorize it?

Back in June, I enrolled in a 3-month payment plan where they said "If you make all 3 monthly plan payments on time, your plan will be complete and your account will be current." I completed the plan in September, and a week later, received a "congrats!" email, and even a "back on track/current" email from CreditKarma.
Within 24-48 hours of these emails, the account status was past due again. I still have no idea why. But on their site, they offered a 12 month program that massively cut the APR, so I took it because honestly it would help. Anyway, now my credit report keeps saying that my payments are late and maybe this can be disputed (per capital one rep), but it doesn't explain why the account itself is past due again when it said it would be made current after the 3 months? I know for the 12-month plan, it wouldn't be current until that's over so Idk if that screwed up the status of completing the 3 month plan. It's odd because looking at the statements, September is good and October was back to bad. I don't use this card anymore as I'm just trying to pay it off. Customer service always seems to be just as confused as I am. Sorry if I'm also confusing you, I'm trying to figure out if i need to make this (large) extra payment.

I opened a secure credit card last year to boost my credit. On July 21 I received an email stating my card is being changed from secured to standard and I was issued a 200 dollar reimbursement check which I never received. I called and I was sent another check for 200$ dated 8/17. I received and chashed that check. Instead of this check being security deposit reimbursement check it was somehow incorrectly processed and created a 200$ bill on my account which was due 10/13. I had not used my card that previous month and had nothing due so I was not paying attention to my statements, so I never saw this.
On 9/6 I received an email saying my check from July was unchased, I also had just had a charge rejected. So I called and told them about the second check, receiving and chasing it and the issue using the card. I was told it is was because there were still two outstanding checks and the one from July needs to be stoped. It could take up to 14 business days maybe more for that to happen. Than I would have available credit again.
On 9/23 I received that same unchased email and still had no available credit. So I called again and explained the situation. I was told by both a rep and supervisor that it had not been 14 business days so I need to wait for the check. Informed than I had already received a second check and chased it. Also, that it was my understanding the issue is the check from July had not been stopped. I understand it had not been 14 day but if it was in the process I would think I would not still be receiving the email about the check from July. I was ultimately told they see the notes from the call on 9/6 but there was never a stop issued for the check. They would now do that and it would take 14 business day maybe longer for it to happen and there was no other way to help me. I again had to wait.
On 10/6 I received the unchased refund check email once again. I called once again on 10/14. The first customer service rep told me they decided to resolve the issue by sending me a check on 10/12 and creating a 200 dollar credit on my account which I should pay when I receive the check. I said I never agreed to this plan and therfore the 200 dollar credit nor was I ever notified that I now owed them money. I want a guarantied trackable shipment of the this check, a direct deposit or for it to stopped all together, the 200 removed from my account and for it to be closed. I was told none of those were an option and eventually transferred to a supervisor.
That supervisor was the first one to tell me 200 charge dated back to the incorrectly processed check from August which was the reason for there being no available credit (not the outstanding check from July). I asked her for the same three possible resolutions, a more secure trackable payment of the 200 or just stop the check, remove the charge and close the account. We went back in forth over there being absolutely no resolution to the issue other than waiting for the check that she said was started processing on 10/12 but could not verify it had been sent out yet. I eventually asked for an email with her notes and confirmation that I am not at fault and can not be accountable for late payment until verification of receiving the check and I cash it. She said she had no ability to email at all nor was their anyone above her who I could talk to or help resolve the situation.
So I am now in the week of this Capital One transfer, I am late on a 200 dollar payment, there is still a 200 dollar check with my name on it out there somewhere that has not been stopped, I have no confirmation other than the phone call with these two ladies that a check is coming, nor anything in writing documenting the issue other than the uncashed check emails.
With no documentation I don't know what will happen when the transfer happens. What detail will be seen other than I owe 200. I could pay this 200 and never get my money back. If I don't pay it, they will report me. I am wondering if you all have any suggestions?

Refer to the link to see what I got in the mail. I am just checking with the overall community what you all think about the Discover IT 5% cash back credit card?
I’m by no means a CC guru. My primary card is the Costco Visa but this offer got me thinking.
What are your thoughts ?

Was just wondering for those who have the discover it student credit card, does the design show up on your Apple Pay or just the default light blue one?

I'm trying to understand how credit cards work. I have a Discover CC that only has a $200 limit. Anytime I try to increase the credit limit it gets denied. I have a 715 credit score. I feel I should be approved no problem. I was told I was not paying my CC off correctly from someone on reddit. I would Max my credit card out, get the bill and pay it off and somehow I got ahead and I would always have a zero balance due even after paying it off. So it would show that my CC always had money on it which kept my credit score high. Apparently I need to keep my credit card maxed out and then pay the bill when it's reported as maxed? The only thing i don't like about that is i always have a low credit score now. And after 3 months of doing this I'm still getting denied a CC limit increase. Do I need to have my Credit score high when I try it again? It's driving me nuts.

My Discover secured card finally graduated ! 🔥🔥
I’ve made every payment on time, kept my utilization low, and stayed consistent.

I’m curious to ask, and the people most likely to know will be the group of people who have already been switched over.
Here goes:
The cash back bonuses. Are they still given to you as you, or are they being made available after a few days as they are with a “regular” C1 card?
Thanks

Why do you not give the option to close the CD upon maturity on the website or through the app? Why do I have to spend extra time and effort to call your customer service line and answer multiple stupid questions so I can access my own money? This is not a security issue. Or an external transfer. This is a internal transfer to my own discover/CA account. No other financial institution requires such action.
Also why is the default option to re-enroll another year instead of cashing out? And why can't I set these settings well ahead of the maturity date? You have an arbitrary time window that I have to make this stupid phone call. Who does that serve?
This subscription-like re-enrollment is predatory behavior. This is Friction by Design. It's the same dark patterns used by subscription-based companies to earn more revenue from people not bothering to cancel their subscriptions.

Seeking some data points. If I purchase a Disneyland Magic Key directly through Disneyland.com, will the transaction qualify for the Q4 5% entertainment cash back? Theme park spend is included but I’d feel more confident directing the spend here if I had some concrete proof that it would code correctly.
I know that when I’ve purchased individual tickets through Chase it qualified, but this will be my first time trying to run it through Discover and my first time buying an annual pass. TIA!

Currently have a discover student card and got notifications within the discover app about how they are moving to the capital one app. I downloaded the app and tried to log in with my discover info / start online access using my name and ssn but it’s saying invalid. Do I just have to wait or is there something I have to do?

Welcome to my nightmare.
I sent two payments to Capital one at least four different ways/times using my banks bill pay feature that has worked For Years.
One partial payment was accepted today. Three have been returned over the last month due to I DON’T KNOW WHY. The issuing banks can’t figure out why the payments were returned. CO keeps saying the problem is on the banks side.
Now Capital One is saying I am two payments behind.
I ditched CO back in the 2000’s because I didn’t like their terms and now I’m stuck with them. I swear I am sending them a FCBA letter tomorrow.

I just got a hard inquiry on my equifax and transunion from Capital one. I did not specifically give permission for this or ask for any new accounts or credit line increases.
I’ve had a Discover It for 4 years and it was transferred to Capital One at the end of July. There’s been no other issues. I’m going to see if I can dispute this with the bureaus. Is there some other way I can get these off my reports?

About 3 months ago I got my first credit card with Cap1/discover , through the pre approval I chose the discover it as I felt I would be able to utilize the 5% rotating categories. Long story short they gave me the 300 limit unfortunately which is the lowest of my credit cards. First 2 months I spent about double my limit and paid my statement in full before the due date. I am curious if this is something I should stop doing or if I’m safe to do so? Thx for reading 👍

22 Y/O male. Currently have a discover card with a 3,800 limit, 1% back on everything. Hoping to get a new card to build my collection and continuing building credit/history. I don’t want a card that I’ll use for a year or two then close because it’s worthless, want it to be of value in a specific niche. Eventually i’ll want a general card, online purchase card, travel card, and grocery/wholesale card.
765 score, have one card and one loan. First card opened over 2 years ago. Never missed payment. Utilization usually sits around 3%. 85k income and growing, 2.5k monthly expenses.
I really want the AAA advantage as my grocery/wholesale card, but with such great rewards I feel it will be hard for me to get approved.
Thoughts and recommendations are appreciated, thanks for the help!
