The "Democrat" he's playing is Mamdani, and the "democratic voters" are the lefties/tankies who were Mamdani's original base and are now turning on him.

So you're right that the subtext of this video is "give DSA politicians more credit/a break, and DSA voters, stop being so unhinged."

It's a pretty funny and accurate parody, my only critique being that Mamdani kind of rode that exact unhingedness to his office. Most democrats have every right to be annoyed at lefty dumbfucks who don't understand civics, but Mamdani did promise a bunch of impossible things; people getting mad at him for not doing impossible things he promised is partially chickens coming home to roost.
