Recommendation Motorcycle Wreckers?

I’ve got a 2008 BMW K 1200 GT, trying to find body parts without buying a whole parts bike. Are there any records in the area and keep motorcycles around?

Recommendation Affordable motorcycle mechanic recommendations? Mobile mechanic preferred

Hey everyone! Looking for recommendations for an affordable, honest motorcycle mechanic in the Denver/Commerce City area. Mobile mechanics would be ideal since my bike isn’t currently rideable.
I recently purchased a 2003 Kawasaki Vulcan 1500 Classic. It broke down shortly after purchase, and despite replacing the fuel pump and a cracked fuel line, it starts, runs briefly, then stalls.
There’s also a possible oil leak I’d like diagnosed, along with some rust inside the gas tank.
I’m not looking for a full restoration, just someone reasonably priced who can diagnose the problems and give me a realistic estimate.
Any recommendations, especially independent or mobile mechanics? Thanks!

Discussion Guy on Harley Colfax and Downing

Hey Guy could you stop redlining your engine at the light every single time you stop at it like 3-5 times a day? And also like you are launching at a drag strip? Your bike sounds like shit, is not fast, and nobody is impressed by you going 28mph. if your bike is having idling issues maybe a good service or a tune might be able to help. Also a little confused by you redline revving it until a dog walker passes where you turn it off completely, and then start it and redline it again once the dog is across the street (but still deafening distance)? So you do know that you are a nuisance? You are the reason people hate motorcyclists and we all collectively face so many angry drivers and dangerous situations on the street.

Recommendation Anyone around Denver CO have an extra kickstand sensor for a newer KTM 690?

Post image
9 Upvotes

I have a 2024 KTM 690 enduro, my kickstand switch got messed up to the point I can’t use the magnet trick, and I am waiting on a dongle to arrive.
Issue is I have a ride planned with some buddies Sunday so I’m going for a long shot here but seeing if anyone around the Denver area has an extra one. I would pay for it, just let me know!

Discussion Rear ended at a light on Belleview and University

Hey guys,

A bit flustered today as I was rear ended / sideswiped from behind on the way to work.
I am fine, the bike is fine, (turn indicator light just popped off, and plate holder is slightly bent) but the car’s fender is a bit busted from hitting me.

Still feel the adrenaline in the system as i am not normally a shaky individual.

Unfortunately, the video does not show me being hit but i tried to catch the guy’s face, and damage to his fender. Also got his plate and photos of damage to my bike.

Should i pursue this incident and get insurance and / or police involved, or is it not worth the hassle since nobody was hurt?

Thanks for your guys’ input!

Recommendation Route suggestions?

With Saturday being nice I want to get out for like a 3 hour ride. Problem is I’ve done Guanella pass, Mt.Blue sky, and peak to peak over the last three weekends and trying to find something different.

Anything in the canyons and staying off I70 is preferable.

Recommendation Anyone know where I can rent a bike and practice for a few hours?

Looking into getting my motorcycle license back here. I already know how to ride and have about a year of experience, but that was in a separate country and a good while back. Don’t wanna pay 400 for the full course and don’t know anyone near to supervise with a permit, does anyone know where I can rent a bike and get used to being on two wheels again for cheap before I take the test?

Recommendation Private session needed.

Hi everyone, first time in the states, currently traveling in CO, Denver area.

I've had this exciting idea to explore the Rockies on a motorcycle.

It's a passion of mine, but I haven't ridden in a while.

Looking for a 1-2 hours of private session, just to shed off some rust before heading to a rental and getting on the road (I have a license of course).

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Discussion Lane Filtering Etiquette / Reactions?

How are you all faring with lane filtering?

I've been filtering through stopped traffic at maybe 3 mph to the front of the line at red lights, and the reactions from some people have been completely fucking unhinged.

Horn. Swerving toward me. Trying to close the gap. Fuckin' lit cigarettes thrown at me. All because I went around a stationary line of cars on a motorcycle.

I'm not talking about squeezing between cars at 40 mph. I'm literally creeping through stopped traffic at walking speed and getting to the front of the queue. Something that should, at worst, register as mildly irritating to the person sitting in traffic.

Instead, apparently I've committed some profound personal violation.

And sure, most of these people ultimately just scream from inside their air-conditioned cage, the light changes, and that's the end of it. But eventually you're going to encounter someone who doesn't stop at screaming.

Which brings me to the question I'm actually asking: do I really need to start carrying when I commute to work?

Because I really don't want to live in a world where getting on a motorcycle to go to work means I need a helmet camera, front and rear cameras, and a fucking handgun in case some guy in a Tacoma decides that being filtered past at 3 mph is grounds for attempted murder.

I'm not particularly interested in getting into an argument about whether people like lane filtering. Obviously they don't. Nobody likes being passed while they're sitting in traffic.

I'm asking whether other Colorado riders are experiencing this level of hostility, and if so, what the practical answer is. Cameras? Just stop filtering? Carry? Some combination of all three?

I'd really prefer the answer not be "yes, you should probably start carrying a gun to your commute because apparently this is where we're at now."

Half venting, half looking for serious conversation / anecdotes from other riders.
