Delaware needs to criminalize unauthorized end-of-life photos
My family experienced something most people can't imagine: during our mother's final days in hospice care, vulnerable and unable to advocate for herself, someone with power of attorney took an unauthorized photograph of her and shared it without consent. That violation of her dignity—right when she needed protection the most—is still haunting.
I started a petition asking Delaware to make this illegal. Currently, there's no law protecting hospice patients from this kind of privacy breach. What happened to our mom could happen to anyone's loved one, and right now there's almost nothing stopping it.
We're asking the state to create real penalties for unauthorized distribution of end-of-life images—whether it's from someone with power of attorney, a medical worker, or anyone else in a position to exploit someone vulnerable. Our mother deserved dignity in her final moments. Everyone does.
If this matters to you or you've worried about this happening to your own family, please consider signing and sharing. What would you want someone to do if this happened to your loved one?
