My dad's a defence personnel so we have 2 extra rooms booked at DRDO Landour, Mussoorie on 18,19th October as our family cancelled!

Charges are really nominal like Rs 250/day and also mess facility is around Rs 90/Meal approx ( Don't remember exact charges)

It's a really good location ( Like 2-3 minutes walk from Famous Landour Bakery) So we thought of offering someone rather than cancelling it.

We're organising Dehradun Kitab Kautik 2026, a book fair with around 40+ publishers and stalls, including NBT, Rajpal, Arihant, Gargi and many local Uttarakhand publishers. I'm looking for one reliable volunteer to help manage the stalls on the ground.

What you'd do:

- Make sure the stalls and tables are set up as per the layout plan (it's simple and numbered, I'll share it)

- Hand over stalls to the publishers as per the allotment list

- Coordinate with me on phone/WhatsApp

When (only a few hours each):

1. This weekend, [Sat 17 / Sun 18 Oct, time]: site visit and walkthrough of the layout

2. 22 Oct, evening: tables and stall setup

3. 23 Oct, morning: stall handover to publishers before opening

Venue: Doon Library, Dehradun

Free food on all book fair days.

Good fit if you're organised, comfortable talking to people and love books. No prior experience needed, I'll brief you fully.

It's been 2.5 months I've relocated to Dehradun from Kolkata. I have not made a lot of friends; since I'm very selective about people.

Seeing my family & friends status updates social media makes me realise what I'm missing out on, if I had the circumstances I perhaps would have taken a leave to go back however that wasn't feasible given the scenario atm.

I just wanted to know if there's any place in Dehradun, where Durga Puja gets celebrated, in the Kolkata style. Maybe it'll not look like even 1% of what my hometown has to offer, but something is better than nothing. It's just very depressing to sit in your own room watching status updates of people having fun where you could have been too. Maybe we could sit together & discuss how both of us miss Calcutta, if I happen to run into a fellow Bengalis there as well.

P.S.: I'm an atheist, I'm purely looking for a community to hangout with; my intentions are not at all devotional.

At the December 2023 Global Investors Summit, the Uttarakhand government announced ₹3.56 lakh crore in MoUs. By mid-2025, they claimed over ₹1 lakh crore was already "grounded" across ~3,300 entities.

Here is how those numbers were actually put together》

Hosting the summit cost roughly ₹100 crore, backed by an estimated ₹1,001 crore PR and ad blitz across TV, digital, radio, and hoardings.

Days before the summit, the state relaxed the definition of a "grounded investment">letting routine allotment letters, basic permits, or machinery inquiries count as active investments.

Summit investors are supposed to bring outside private money. Instead, over ₹35,000 crore of the grounded total came from state-run hydroelectric PSUs (UJVNL & THDCIL)—projects fully funded, commissioned, and bought by the government itself.

To inflate the entity count, the list included dozens of local flour mills (atta chakkis), pesticide/seed vendors, and neighborhood clinics as "investors" worth ₹1–2 lakh each. When asked, several owners had no idea the summit even existed.

So basically there was no investment or a small investment and govt was boasting about 1lakh crore investment was totally misleading and farce on the faces of people who elected this govt especially that joker dhami.

* दून क्लब का हांडी रेस्टोरेंट सील: फूड सेफ्टी विभाग की छापेमारी में सड़ा हुआ खाना मिलने और कॉकरोच-चूहों का डेरा पाए जाने के बाद रेस्टोरेंट को बंद कर 14 दिन का नोटिस दिया गया है।

* तंबाकू उत्पादों पर एक साल का प्रतिबंध: राज्य में गुटखा, पान मसाला और तंबाकू उत्पादों के निर्माण, भंडारण और वितरण पर सरकार ने एक साल के लिए पूरी पाबंदी लगा दी है।

* मोहब्बेवाला में फिर सड़क हादसा: देहरादून के मोहब्बेवाला क्षेत्र में तेज रफ्तार ट्रक की चपेट में आने से एक बार फिर सड़क सुरक्षा और यातायात व्यवस्था पर गंभीर सवाल खड़े हो गए हैं।

* एमडीडीए का दीपावली तोहफा: देहरादून के बिना नक्शे वाले मकान मालिकों को कंपाउंडिंग के जरिए बड़ी राहत देने की तैयारी की जा रही है।

* मसूरी की पहाड़ियों में 69 करोड़ साल पुराने अवशेष: वैज्ञानिकों को हिमालय की चट्टानों और मसूरी की पहाड़ियों में प्राचीन हिमयुग और धरती के इतिहास के दुर्लभ निशान मिले हैं।

* जनगणना-2027 की तैयारियां तेज: देहरादून में जनगणना के दूसरे चरण की तैयारियां जोर-शोर से चल रही हैं, जिसमें नागरिकों से करीब 40 सवाल पूछे जाएंगे।

* बदरीनाथ हाईवे का सौंदर्यीकरण: चंद्रभागा से ब्रह्मपुरी तक 18 करोड़ रुपये की लागत से बदरीनाथ हाईवे की तस्वीर बदलने का काम शुरू कर दिया गया है।

* नवनिर्वाचित राज्यपाल: डॉ. ढाल सिंह बिसेन को उत्तराखंड का नया राज्यपाल नियुक्त किया गया है।
