Flock CEO says it won't work with clients who abuse its surveillance, but claims none have
"Though Langley stated that Flock's system only detects gunfire, a spokesperson later clarified to TechCrunch that this is merely its primary focus, confirming that it also picks up fireworks, street takeovers, and vehicular accidents."
Try again.

Just need to find a way to attach the solar panel to my head, maybe make a sign with Alex Karp's face or something, and then I'm set!
Not everyone can De-Flock. Is this the next best thing?

Three Little Rock police officers relieved of duty after Flock camera system misuse
Three Little Rock police officers have been relieved of duty following an audit that uncovered suspicious activity involving the department’s Flock license plate camera system.
The officers are on leave with pay as the investigation continues."
They will keep piling up and then it will go silent.
They will claim they have rooted out all these bad cops, so the systems should stay.
They will get better at hiding it.
The police taking advantage of a tool is not new.
That's not the abuse.
The system's existence is.

Letter you can send to your state reps about Flock and ALPR cameras
Banning these cameras happens one city and state at a time, and elected officials only act when they hear from constituents, so I wrote a sourced letter you can use. It’s unaddressed and signed “Concerned Citizen,” and it covers nationwide data sharing, misuse cases, the Wired hardware findings, and the placement argument, with a full source list at the end.
Swap in examples from your own area if you would like, and please send it to your state representative, state senator, governor, and mayor, because every letter helps make the next ban possible.

Town admits sharing Flock data with FBI violated state law, ...
Thank god for those guardrails!
See how effective they are?
"Smithfield Police Lt. William Wooley and Isle of Wight County Sheriff’s Office Capt. Tommy Potter, in an earlier Times article on the controversy surrounding the use of automated license-plate readers, said their agencies will share Flock data with other state law enforcement agencies with which they have a data-sharing relationship, including Virginia State Police, but under state law cannot provide access to federal agencies without first receiving a search warrant or subpoena."
