Discussion Am I rushing days gone?

So this Friday I got days gone, and reached the part where you get the Liston knife for Addy, and skizzo tells you something about some plane crash. So do you think Im rushing the game, otherwise what should I do to keep myself entertained.

The beginner guide at the top of this sub has a section on optimal progression and the best order to clear each map objective.

I power played the game my first time and finished it pretty quick.
I’m on my second play through and I’m taking my time, doing all the side quests, hitting hordes early, good after all the question marks.
I want to have level 3 trust with all the camps before I go south.

Its not really that hard just do all missions and clear hordes and loot nero checkpoints and you get level 2 really fast and level 3 fast too

Gather freak ears and animal meat 24/7, especially if you use crossbow, as the bolts are just scrap and cedar sapling trees :)

Are you doing any side missions or “question marks” on the map.
Because they are worth taking the time to do.

Yeah I do some, other than I just drive around on supply runs and do Copeland jobs

Do all the side missions. No spoilers, but do all of them. Which is generally easiest done as they pop up.

Alright

Yes this is good advice...Just do the side missions as you get them...It will help you greatly by the end of the game...You still have a ton of the game left so don't feel like you are going too fast

Feel free to get side tracked chasing the blue ?s to find survivors and build trust. Go horde hunting. Look for ambush camps. Clear infestations. There is no real reason to rush the main story. I think I was close to 890 days when the credits rolled.

I feel the games kind of rushes you, but you can deviate and do your own thing.

Like others are saying, do all the side missions. And there's still way more to go. Hell, no spoilers but you haven't even met quite a few the principle characters yet.

Yeah but even the side missions and horde things are quite few which I could do in like 3 days

True. But you haven't even been over the pass yet. There's more.

I'll see, but all I need is an activity that can last long and distract me

That’s a fun mission going to get the meds from the plane. Take your time there’s tons of gameplay left

I started recently and it took 3 weeks to reach to this level, and I thought that I was rushing.

Look at which side objectives could help your attributes you want to beef up. Try tackling a hoard, smaller ones first. It’s a good gauge to see where you are weak. Stamina, learn to make cocktails or boost ability. Focus, the time to hit multiple enemies near you is critical in this game. I boost these more than health first. Works with my gameplay tho.

I don't know—go do some jobs, kill Freakers, or destroy nests; there's nothing else to do, lol.

There are infinite combos of play through. Just enjoy it how you want the first time, and there’s always the 15th or 35th time to try different things. If you’re barreling through, or feel like it, that’s just proof of what an amazing game it is ;)

I'm the player that likes to take their time when playing a game, so I explore all the side missions (getting the extra xp/credits definitely helps). The side missions provide a lot of insight into Deacon and other characters.

Other people like to do only the main missions.

You do you. There is no wrong way to play this game. Plus, you can also play the game multiple times.

There’s something to be said for taking one’s time. Between sleeping in my own little bed, taking leisurely naps in the MMUs, and overnighting in stinky little blue motels, I have a lot of time racked up in game hours, but, I also like to take things easy when I can—the hordes get me worked up plenty as it is.

Play however fast you want. Also you are just around 50% of the story. There is so much more still to go.

Usually when I play the game, it takes me a week to beat. The story for me is around 40-50 hours. But its very random. You can take 20 hours or 100 hours. No right or wrong way. Just different. Also exploring, killing hordes, looting and doing the side missions takes a lot of time. I also play on the hardest difficulty, so I dont have fasttravel. I have to drive everywhere. This also takes time.

Actually it is only around 35% of story

Yeah, having just finished the story (watching credits as I type this lol) he's definitely around 30-35% of the way through the story. Still a ton left to go. It's a juicy game.

I'm loving it and I've just came to the partwhere they remove your brother's hand.

How does it feel after completing the game?

2

u/Viperess7 2d ago

Right? Crazy stuff! I finished the game when it came out, but this is my first playthrough since then and I pretty much forgot most things lol. It feels good to finish it but man, I'm gonna miss it. The acting in this game is addictive, they're all fantastic! Desperate for a sequel

I'm one of the many who abandoned the game after playing a bit when it released. I came to this after RDR2 in 2019 and the game didn't hook on me. After seeing all the positive comments on this game, I wanted to give it another try and I realised that I made a mistake of abondoning a gem. It is so sad that there won't be any sequel. But this game is getting its deserved recognition after all these years, hopefully there will be someone initiating a sequel.

I'm glad you love it now! It's absolutely a diamond in the rough. Also praying to a sequel, but we shall see. The world needs more Deacon St. John
