Lovely setting for your home, and an even lovelier pack.

Thank you. We bailed out of the city ten years ago. Only thing I miss is the water pressure.

I've found, in addition to the view, my appreciation for more rural settings goes up markedly when they still manage to intersect with a reasonably short distance to a fairly priced grocery store and a good nest of doctors / vet... lol But you're absolutely right about the water pressure.

We are fortunate, our trusted vet is just over one mile from us now.we used to drive 90 miles one way to them. Got a Food Lion and super wal mart within range,as well. Doctors, not so much.

90 miles. Oof. Yeah, that sort of thing really hurts. Especially in an emergency.

I've got an aunt and uncle with a 60 minute drive each way for the grocery store (and it still isn't that cheap) and dealing with anything medical feels like you're going on a trip around the world. Grandparents were a little better off distancewise with their place. They could have used doctors that were closer, but the grocery store wasn't far at all. Between the two, they definitely taught me to appreciate the amenities more in looking for a place to settle. So yeah, the neighbors are (a lot) closer but the view's still great, and it doesn't cost an arm and a leg to drive to the store. These days filling up feels more like a second mortgage. lol Trade offs...

My personal trade off was going from a city lot yard to mowing 4 acres of the 40 that is ‘yard’….the cows manage the rest. If we need items unavailable locally,it’s 28 miles to a ‘city’,lol. The lack of doctors may become an issue,we are mid sixties now,but relatively healthy so far.🤞

relatively healthy so far.

That's the sort of living likely to keep you that way, too. 🤞

You have 7 dogs? You must not have limits of dogs/ cats like most cities towns and counties in USA....we can only have 3 licensed dogs ...or are you a rescue/ Foster home with special licenses .... gorgeous dogs by the way

5 full time, and we host our friend’s pups when they need us to. No restrictions here, so far…as long as they all have proper shots and a license. We also have cows

Wow that's awesome. We personally only wanted two due to our age , and smaller living space since we lost 1/2 of our income since 2024...our current small pups are our ESA pups ..only we learned the 1st chi Shitzu puppy we adopted has a birth defected heart issue that makes him unable to go under anesthesia for dental , neuter, and heart surgery...we learned this 4 months ago and we were told this when he was around 6 months old... And most likly he will only live 1 to 2 yrs so every day with him is precious ...he's 10 months in a wk...lost almost 2 lbs and we're already seeing his health decline...we tried a very short walk with his 2 house mate sibs were doing since he wanted to walk too and we thought he was going to have a heart attack so back to his stroller rides he loves so much... The second is a chi Shitzu mix and almost 9 months and he's my husbands ESA dog, and since my guy was gotten as an ESA pup has all the perfect qualities and knows and I understands already he has the job of trying to calm me during a PTSD event ...vet and my family doc suggested that it may be wise to bring in another young pup who can watch and learn the job he will be taking over...it's really challenging trying to potty train and train 3 chi Shitzu mix pups, when I struggle with arthritis so much most days ...but until we moved a month ago it was going good then we added a third pup...(our spare as we joke) it's not been really pleasant...he's got good ESA instincts and Qualities and smart...but he's even more stubborn than our first and the second chi Shitzu who he's half brother to. I've never struggled so much potty training pups before. Being the are more cold blooded and I have arthritis so bad and I fall so easily in winter we chose to potty box train these lil buggers. Like I said we had two trained we moved and when 3rd was added the older two back slide and 2nd one started marking...so now instead of saying let's get your jewelry on ( harness and collars with tags) I say let's get dressed ... because all now wear Velcroed washable belly bands so I'm not cleaning up marking spots or small puppy wees. Just poos from tiny pup still. An accontience suggested since we use enzymes to remove orders why not use enzymes to attract them to the potty box...and as of yesterday it's helping all three want to use the box, so less mess less fuss less fighting with them...my husband goes if it continues to work it's worth the cost , worth the less stress so we can put more time into training them so they behave and we can finally truly enjoy them like our last two small breed poodle mixes.

I was thinking how on earth if they have 7 dogs were they able to train them...but I remember a few bigger dogs I had in my childhood and young adult years trained easier than most of my pups in life so I reasoned maybe that's how. If I had land and wasn't arthritic id still have big dogs... Your blessed and busy especially adding horses to the mix...I use to go to my friends family farm as a kid and help feed their goats and chickens, gather eggs get up early to help her dad milk the goats, and rode the pony and help muck the stalls of the poney and horse...lots of work...then if I got into trouble we pulled weeds and picked up rocks in their 2 acre garden. So like I said I know you have your hands full..I'm envious you can physically keep up and enjoy them all ...you are blessed

Cows, not horses. My first wife had a horse.not a fan. We were blessed with a JRT/Boston terrier mix who helped us train all these dogs.he left us a few months ago at 17-1/2. We are retired now,mid sixties, and our kids are grown and independent,so…dogs! The big fella is our grand dog, all of them are sweet natured and get along well.we do feed in the crates, but they all share the water bowl. The chocolates are half sisters, and the others just sorta found us from less than ideal homes. Family for life here. Best wishes to you with your Shitzus,we have no experience with that breed. They are adorable, though.

Sorry about the cow horse mix up...I've had a Boston loved her to pieces, a golden retriever, Shepherd mix, pommerain , two poodle mixes...best dogs ever and now these three turds... additude as big as mt.Everest when it comes to potty training... especially #2 and #3...same gene pool...they would sit in the potty box all day if you let them ..hold urine and stool back for 12 hrs then get out and do it on the floor or on their blankets...it's so peculiar to me...never in my near 60 yrs have I delt with that from any of my own or other people's dogs i helped potty train...I even taught a relatives adult dogs to go out hrly when I baby sat their kids...they never pottied in the house when I was there but they both used the whole house as their toilet when the adult relatives were both home... including on dirty laundry in the laundry room...so these are the first hard headed knuckle heads I've really had... 2 older pups 9 and 10 months old were fully trained until we moved 1 month ago and they back slid...then added a 3rd into the mix... they don't want to use potty box or outside...your blessed your older dog helped train everyone...it doesn't usually work out that way. Usually one bad behaving dog trains the othersto act naughty or untrains them like I'm dealing with. Thanks for sharing your pics of your beautiful good behavior dogs ..it gives me hope...lol

Bentley was an absolute blessing to us. He was a very good boy. When we got him at 8 weeks old,we had a bunny and two chinchillas…he befriended them,as well.
