Nota. No tengo dinero para comprar la muñeca de Buffy, por ello me gustaría que me comentaran sobre algún molde para su cara🥺💖

Repaint Working on giving Frankie the shoes they deserved

Always hated the pink shoes so much (this is g3 Frankie core wave one). Ive got white primer spray from a family member who stopped playing warhammer and mr super clear coming on monday. Still debating painting the stitching on the shoes. Its a pain but it usually looks good.

The plan is to do a whole custom Frankie. Repaint face, little bit of the body, these shoes, and new clothes. Also have plans/sketches for a cleo, drac, and clawdeen. I might post those sketches and plans sometime soon. But I’m getting ahead of myself a bit lol.

Sculpted My first custom dolls! Morgan & Molly

These are my two OCs, Morgan and Molly. I used Barbies for their body’s and made the heads + paws out of clay! I made Morgan {the cat} first and I’m surprised how good she looks! There’s definitely things I will do differently in the future though. Molly {the dog} was much easier as I didn’t need to paint her body. Anyway yeah! Customizing dolls is really fun

Modifications giving a mh doll digitigrade legs: a quick(ish) and easy tutorial

Thumbnail gallery
217 Upvotes

hi all!! a couple of people were curious how I sculpted the digitigrade legs on my gargoyle doll. as I had progress pics from a previous project on hand, I put together a quick tutorial, good for anthros, mythical creatures or whatever your heart desires. enjoy making your dolls more monstery for the hallowe'en season!

you're going to need a saw, two-part epoxy clay, small amounts of cardboard or foil, hot glue or superglue, a small dowel (wooden toothpicks work fine) and a metal skewer (or a drill if you have one). important note: this method is designed for a g1 mh sculpt, since mh's signature arched feet are going to become the back-angled part of the lower legs. if you're using it on a doll with smaller/flatter feet, bear that in mind and adjust accordingly.

  1. cut through the doll's legs so that you've removed a chunk of its shin, making sure it's roughly even on both sides. up to you how much, but I usually take maybe two centimetres. we're doing this to keep the legs proportionate to the rest of the body.
  2. use a wooden dowel and glue to reconnect the legs. you will need to drill a hole for dowel to sit in in the top of the lower leg. you can also use a hot metal skewer to make the hole if you don't own a drill-- this is a worse method, but it works for me. if the two parts don't sit flush together, that's absolutely fine, but don't skip this or the result will be much more fragile. you also don't have to reconnect them at a perfect angle; I like angling the feet in to the body for a slightly splayed-out look.
  3. smooth epoxy clay over the dowel seam in a thin layer. it doesn't matter if this isn't perfectly smooth, it's there to make the connection sturdy. I recommend letting it cure before doing anything else.

now, cut out a cardboard/foil 'foot' and glue it to the toe of each of the doll's foot, which is going to be the basis for our new foot. trim if desired once it's in place.

given that this method means the doll's lower legs bend back slightly to compensate for the weight & position of the new feet when standing upright, the new foot needs to be parallel to the doll's hips but at a slightly acute angle to the upper parts of the lower legs. see quick diagram above. you can also vary this angle, making it more acute to make the digitigrade-ness more prominent. compare the lizard & gargoyle above, the latter has a much more acute angle. (I promise this is much more intuitive when you're sculpting.)

  1. now your foot-base is in place, use epoxy to build the shape of claws (or hooves... or paws...) around it. in general you want to smooth out and maybe bulk up the modified shin slightly, leave the point created by the ankle mostly exposed, and create the shape, weight and bulk of the new feet over your cardboard base and the old toes.

you may find it helpful to do this in a couple of stages, so you can do structural work and make the feet roughly level before adding fine detail, whatever works for you. I also like to accentuate the ankle point with spikes or little feathery details. leave to cure.

  1. if you think the sculpting needs it, refine the shape through sanding or with a dremel.

  2. paint/airbrush/pastel dust over the cured legs as desired and seal with MSC. (the world is your oyster wrt finishing them, honestly, there's so much you could try out. I want to do some with flocking and faux fur glued over for a 'faun' look at some point...)

hope this is clear enough! feel free to ask any questions if you're curious about anything, or there's something I've missed.

(edit: also, apologies for the horrible list formatting! I can't fix it on mobile no matter what I do)

General help! What heads fit on ICY jointed dolls?

Hi! I'm trying to make a custom for the first time, and I've settled on using an ICY doll body, but on the search for what the head should be replaced for, Ive found it difficult finding examples of what others' have already done to compare what does/doesn't work apart from that one random AliExpress review using a licca-chan head. Do any of you know someone or have yourself replaced the head of an ICY DBS Blyth doll with a pleasant outcome?

I'm mostly looking for heads with animal features or flat/featureless heads, but sculpted heads are also fine

It is suspected that the diameter of the neck/head hole is 10mm (info from a website that isn't up anymore)

Speculations also welcomed because I'm not awfully familiar with a lot of brands, it could help me in the future.
Thank you

The ICY jointed doll from AliExpress

Re-rooting Rae Lumina with this pretty filament. I have no idea what type of threads these are- I made it by brushing out a random golden tassel I had in my craft box. It's VERY thin and delicate, and really really soft. It's also very heat resistant, I used my flat iron all the way on max and it was fine. There's going to be golden threads all over my house now...

General help! First custom doll ever! Is my reroot density okay?

Post image

This is my first custom doll ever! I know rerooting usually goes first, but I wanted to try painting right away. It's not perfect, but I thought I'd do much worse, so I'm pretty happy with it.
Now I need your help: do you think the amount of hair is okay, or should I add more? Any tips are welcome, I'm still learning.
Thanks in advance!

General help! Pattern mapping

Hi hi I want to recreate Dracs2026 Halloween look! By looking at the design it is a tube top with a ruffle layer attached along with a what looks like A-line skirt or skirt that looks like a cape. I plan to use one of my G3 dolls. If anyone has any advice on how to execute this or any pattern ideas I am all ears. I plan to 3d print the accessories and make the boots myself.

A link to what I am going for: https://creations.mattel.com/products/monster-high-draculaura-halloween-edition-doll-jmg90

Rerooting Where to Buy Doll Hair for Rerooting in Tokyo?

Hi everyone! I'm looking for craft stores in Tokyo that sell supplies for customizing dolls, especially rerooting hair. Does anyone know where I can find good-quality doll hair (nylon or saran) and other doll customization supplies? Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

This is Claire de Lune from Moonspell Magic! I wanted to give her a more “fierce” monster highish face but since this is my first ever face up it didn’t go that well. I’m so excited to start playing around with doll faces even if they don’t look good. This is fun!

My first custom! She is not ready yet, since I need to buy hair, shoes and accesories, perhaps I will do some touch ups with makeup.

Painted with POSCA markers, sew from free patterns: tank top and crop top, socks (but I adjusted it to G3)(pouple_en_ciel), shorts (Fire Tuna Club blog).

Original doll was Frankie Stein Creepover.
