I recently conducted an anonymous survey looking at ejaculation from anal/prostate stimulation without penile stimulation. I ended up with 397 responses, so I wanted to share some of the preliminary results.

I was especially interested in whether certain factors were linked to being able to do this more often or more reliably.

First, how common was it?

Participants were asked how often they had ejaculated from prostate/anal stimulation without penile stimulation:

* Never: 31.7%

* Once: 16.6%

* 2–5 times: 23.7%

* 6–20 times: 11.1%

* More than 20 times: 4.3%

* Can do it reliably: 12.6%

So, 68.3% had experienced it at least once, while about 12.6% said they could do it reliably.

One important point: these numbers should NOT be taken as the percentage of the general population who can do this. This was a voluntary survey, so people who are interested in or have experienced prostate stimulation may have been more likely to participate.

What factors were associated with greater success?

Instead of simply dividing people into "can" and "can't," I treated the six answers above as an ordered scale from least to most successful.

The strongest finding was how often someone engaged in prostate/anal stimulation.

People who did it more frequently were much more likely to be in a higher success category. This could mean that practice and experience matter. However, because this was a survey taken at one point in time, we can't tell whether:

"Practicing more makes you better at it"

or:

"People who are naturally better at it do it more often."

It could also be some combination of both.

Being able to relax also mattered

People who said they could relax more easily during prostate/anal stimulation were more likely to report higher levels of success.

This was one of the strongest findings in the study.

Again, this doesn't prove that relaxing causes ejaculation. It could be that successful experiences make people more comfortable and relaxed, or that both things influence each other.

What about age?

Older participants were slightly more likely to be in a higher success category.

This may have nothing to do with age itself. Older people may simply have had more years to experiment and learn what works for them.

What about age at first orgasm?

This was an interesting and much weaker finding.

After adjusting for the other factors in the statistical model, a later age at first orgasm was associated with a higher success category.

However, this wasn't a strong relationship when looking at the data by itself, so I would not consider this a solid finding yet. It needs to be studied in a larger sample.

What about masturbation?

Interestingly, people who reported masturbating more frequently tended to be in lower prostate-ejaculation categories.

This was still present after accounting for several other factors.

I don't think this should be interpreted as "masturbation prevents prostate ejaculation." There are many possible explanations. For example, people who prefer penile stimulation may simply masturbate more and be less interested in practicing prostate stimulation.

This finding is something I'd want to investigate further rather than draw a strong conclusion from.

What DIDN'T seem to matter?

I didn't find strong evidence that the following were associated with being in a higher success category:

* Ability to maintain an erection

* Kegel exercises

* Circumcision

* Sexual orientation

* Gender identity

* Age when someone first tried anal/prostate stimulation

* Medications affecting sexual function

Some of these may still matter for individual people. "No statistically significant association" does not mean that a factor has absolutely no effect.

The biggest takeaways

If I had to summarize the study in a few points:

1. Experience was the strongest association.

People who engaged in prostate stimulation more frequently were much more likely to report repeated or reliable ejaculation.

1. Being able to relax was strongly associated with success.

2. Older participants reported more success, possibly because they had more sexual experience.

3. More frequent masturbation was associated with lower prostate-ejaculation success, but we don't know why.

4. Kegels and erection maintenance didn't appear to make a major difference.

One important limitation

This was an observational survey, not an experiment.

So none of these results prove that one thing causes another.

For example, I can't say that practicing prostate stimulation will make someone able to ejaculate this way. I can only say that, in this group of 397 people, people who practiced more often were more likely to report being able to do it.
