Stopped drinking forever but kept THC in my life.

I find it elevates my liver enzymes so I abstain for the most part. Biologics can be hard on the liver so I don’t want to add any extra stress to my life.

Same, bad effects on inflammation and my liver levels, isn't worth it.

It nearly ruined my life. That’s a whole separate issue.

I don’t drink. Period.

Stopped shortly before ever being diagnosed because it was upsetting my gut

No issues but I dont drink often. If I do, I dont drink much in the way of beer itself because its harder on my stomach, so I tend to stick to vodka and an edible of some kind.

I’ve only ever drank occasionally, and I still do once in a while. It’s always been fine unless it was a sugary mixed drink. I never, ever drink when flaring. Currently learning how drinking affects me in perimenopause. One time I’m fine, the next it’s a god awful hangover from one glass of wine. I haven’t figured out a pattern yet, and I’m not going to drink more to figure it out.

No issues. Actually calms tenesmus. It’s never affected my labs.

This is so interesting because same. A couple Moscow mules really helps calm the ol bowels for some reason

Yes! And I joke it’s because alcohol doesn’t need to get digested like food.

That's amazing, all it does for me is act like an immediate laxative after the first sip. But after that it's usually good, until the next morning, lol.

Not worth the aftermath nor the hangover. Definitely a taste I can forgo with better alternatives. It increases the risk of cancers (+inflammation) in the GI tract, which is already raised by the crohn’s itself, thus we get the manyfold effect.

I have a drink occasionally. No affect on labs, my liver enzymes are always solid on skyrizi. It does affect my sleep tho.

I don't drink heavy drinks. I like beer a lot but not black beers cause for some reason they upset my gut. When I go out for a drink I usually get a cocktail with little alcohol inside

Seems to be a significant trigger for me. Leads to an instant flare.

No I don’t. Not anymore. I’m also on mental health meds too.

Not on biologics and can drink alcohol when my gut is calm and not acting up. Drinking a cider right now

I am realizing beer is absolutely evil for me and I need to give it up but most everything else is okay in moderation

I don't drink. I sobered up on 2/22/22 and didn't know that I had a cool date until someone pointed it out after I had been sober for a couple of years

My number one trigger, I avoid it.

Sends me running to the bathroom for at least a few days after consumption. So I avoid it 99% of the time.

It’s not worth it to me. Too much pain for basically no benefit.

Shit hurts so I rarely do it. I feel like I can actively feel it pissing off my immune system

Nop! But I smoke weed

It increases the risk of cancer (something Crohn's also does). It can be irritating to the gut for people without gut problems (and many people with Crohn's really don't get on with it because it's irritating). Hangovers suck, doubly so when you're flaring and in pain.

Many of us aren't drinking because we've decided it's not worth it.

I was hospitalised about a month ago, the last time I had a drink was probably close to 2 months ago and I wasn't drinking much then. I just haven't really felt the urge to drink. I can't drink fast enough to get buzzed (if I drink that fast, I'll get sick), I get hungover despite this, if I have more than a couple I'll feel like shit (Crohn's) for days afterwards… I mean, I like the taste of a few beers, and I like Jack Daniels mixed with coke… but honestly, regular coke is shit enough and tastes good enough on its own without needing to put literal poison in it. And there are better tasting things out there than beer.

So what's the point? I can't really see one.

I can only do hard liquor so I usually have a mixed drink, I really don't drink anything straight. Wine and Beer make my belly swell up almost immediately, I look pregnant if I have a beer. Orange juice also does the same thing to me and I love orange juice but I can't have it.

I don't drink much these days . But not all alcohol is the same for me . Spirits are ok and stout is also fine . Most beer doesn't agree with me .

If you’ve got Crohn’s, you’re already at a systemic disadvantage health-wise. Why consume literal poison and make your chances for better health outcomes even worse?

Because it’s fun
