Discussion The Weirdest Thing That Sticks Out About Fred To Me
I just noticed Freaky Fred doesn't share his aunt Muriel's Scottish accent, which tells us a few things that might be possible in his backstory;
- He was probably mostly raised by his father, being that Muriel is only known to have a sister named Dorothy, meaning Dorothy is Fred's mother, and considering they're implied to be close siblings when Muriel excitedly announces in "Angry Nasty People" that she must call her sister up to tell her she'll be on the "telly", we can assume Dorothy has a Scottish accent as well, especially if they were closely raised together as children. (Someone noticed when little Muriel speaks, her Scottish accent is much more strong, which makes sense if it got "toned down" as she got older when her and her family moved to America years prior due to talking to people with a more American accent.)
- Considering he likely spent more time with his father(a non Scottish man), it's naturally reflected in the way he talks. His father probably taught him how to speak, especially when you take in consideration there's literally not a hint of Scottish in Fred's voice reflections whatsoever. So he definitely wasn't around his mother a lot. I like to think his father also taught him to rhyme things to learn to practice English better.
- If Fred wasn't around his mother a lot and the fact that Muriel doesn't tolerate unruly and rude behavior in some instances, Dorothy likely was the opposite in not really monitoring or pretty much ignored any "bad" behavior detected in her own son whenever she did see him or spent time with him. Which kind of could explain his "naughty" tendencies in the future.(Without a proper female figure in a boy's life, he usually doesn't learn things like boundaries and decency.)
- Fred's father was probably a barber as well who passed down his profession to his son, teaching him to perfect the arts of the family business and was probably the type of man more proud about his kid following in his footsteps rather than if this type of job was actually healthy for him mentally due to his eventual obsession with hair.(Mental health definitely wasn't his father's profession, so though he was the more "involved" parent in some sense, he too failed to completely understand how his son developed internally.)
Just some thoughts I had. What do yous think?

Question What is up with the DVD menus?
I own the complete collection on DVD and the season 1 menu looks great but after season 1, it just looks generic. Do ALL copies look like this or are there dvd copies for seasons 2-4 that have menus like season 1?

Fan art I built The Computer from Courage the Cowardly Dog that talks to you 📺

I saw a meme saying Courage was using AI long before ChatGPT, and I couldn’t stop thinking about it.
So I made a little browser experience where you can sit at Courage’s computer and actually talk to it. It replies back in its own slightly unhelpful way, just like in the show.
Experience it here: https://the-courage-computer.vercel.app/

Discussion What's your personal creepiest episode of Courage the Cowardly Dog?
Mine has always been the Freaky Fred episode. Even though he's human, he freaked me out the most.

Merchandise My Courage Memorabilia Collection
My favorite cartoon as a child was Courage The Cowardly Dog. I have so many fond memories of watching it while growing up. Recently, I've been working on creating a Courage memorabilia collection, so here are a few of the pieces I've picked up so far!
My newest addition to the collection is this bootleg Courage piece from @mike_mvz on IG. I'm absolutely in love with it, and they did a spectacular job. Go check out their page to see more dope projects they have in the works!
Another addition I got recently is this soft vinyl Ooga Booga mask from Jin Art. Since getting into sofubi, I've always wanted to get a Courage themed soft vinyl piece, so I'm super thankful to have been able to add this one to the collection.
And last but not least, is this hand signed and drawn Courage Funko from one of the original animators of the show, Jeff Brennan. Shout out to Jeff for the signed Funko and helping create one of the best cartoons of all time!
What's your favorite Courage themed toy, collectible, or art piece you have in your collection?

Fan art Real-life courage
I know some of you probably don’t want to see this, but my dog is genuinely real-life IRL courage. Personality, temperament & aesthetics. The only rewarding aspect aside from being a lifelong fan is having a dog that acts as authentically loving as Courage does.
