Featuring the always great Kathryn Legendre…

We're starting a new series every other Thursday:

Tell us about your area and what country music is like there. Feel free to drop links, promote stuff from your area. come up tell us about anything and everything- from festivals to music Facebook groups to radio shows to bands from your neck of the woods.

Feel few to tell us about your own projects if you're in a band or have a Facebook group or something related to local music!

Sam Platts is on a Livestream here but his recent studio album has some phenomenal original western swing

In case anyone's interested, his recent live album is phenomenal. It's cool to see him playing guitar solo too here. One of the best guitar players in country music today.

Happy Wednesday! Western Wednesday, this Wednesday and every Wednesday!

Western swing, Out West, Wild West, songs about Texas, artists from out West, cowboys, even the sounds of spaghetti western... sometimes we'll post Canadian western artists, sometimes Native American country artists from the western states (that's a whole subgenre of country music by the way), cowboy poetry, Red Dirt artists, and much more

Other weekly themes on this sub:

Blue Monday, every monday: bluegrass, country blues, and blue in general. A little rockabilly.

Honky Tonk Saturday: what it says on the tin, honky tonk country music and a little Bakersfield Sound.

Click on the flair (the colored tags above some posts) to see past posts with the same themes.

Hi everyone,

I need help identifying a track from a DJ mix. Shazam and other audio recognition softwares couldn't find it, probably due to the mixing or effects.

Here is the audio sample: https://voca.ro/1jKq7h1iIZ76

What I know about the song:

• Style/Era: It sounds like an older, vintage track from the 1960s or 1970s. It's a pure Country / Hill Country Blues / Zydeco style track.
• Instrumentation: Very minimalist. It features a fast, galloping/train-like drum beat and a prominent blues harmonica (blues harp) accompanying the vocals. No heavy guitars or pianos.
• Vocals: It features a very deep, raspy, and masculine male lead vocal. In the chorus, I can hear him singing something like "You know, pretty baby, freaky baby, you know..." (or something phonetically very close to this). Later in the track, a female vocal also joins in.

If anyone recognizes the artist, the original song title, or even the specific version/remix, please let me know!

Thank you so much for your help!
