Title: Ugoos AM9 Pro, Android Kodi: audio late at playback start (lips first). VLC on the same box is fine

Setup:

Ugoos AM9 Pro, Android firmware 2.2.0, Kodi 21 (Android)

Ugoos HDMI → Denon AVR-X4400H → LG C2 77"

Local MKV rips (Blu-ray and UHD, some Dolby Vision) over SMB

Kodi: refresh rate switching on start/stop, passthrough on (TrueHD/DTS-HD), Sync playback to display off

Problem: at the start of every film the audio is late (lips move first). It happens with both passthrough and PCM. Changing any TV setting used to resync it, but now even that doesn't help.

Already tried, no change:

Kodi: delay after refresh rate change (2–3 s), refresh switching off (worse, and the audio drops out for about 10 s after unpause), seeking back

Ugoos firmware updated to 2.2.0

Denon: Auto Lip Sync off

LG: ALLM off, Game Optimizer off, Filmmaker Mode

Key test: VLC for Android on the same box with the same file has near-perfect sync. So it looks like Kodi's Android audio path, not the hardware.

Questions:

Has anyone fixed this in Android Kodi on the AM9 Pro?

For CoreELEC 22 RC1 on the AM9 Pro: is s6_s905x5_ugoos_am9_pro.dtb included in the image, or do I download it separately and rename it dtb.img?

Is a separate dovi.ko still needed for Dolby Vision, or is it built in now? If needed, where's the current one?

Anyone running CoreELEC on the AM9 Pro through an AVR: is lip sync solid with TrueHD/Atmos?

Is there any way to make xiaomi mi box s 3rd gen remote work on coreelec? Cec remote has slight delay and signal usually getting blocked by my soundbar.

I recently rooted a FireCube 3 and installed CoreElec on it to serve as a home theater streaming box, using my desktop PC (and the media drives on it) as a local server I can access from my living room TV.

I'm a little new to this, so I still don't have a full grasp of some of the specifics of how transcoding works from a server to a client or how a locally-hosted Jellyfin server vs windows SMB could affect something like bit-rate.

My first and biggest question is whether there's any downside to using the "Jellyfin for Kodi" plugin to both make my desktop media files accessible via a Jellyfin server and rely on Jellyfin's metadata collation to help organize my library. My major concern is the possibility that I'd risk lowering the quality of what's streamed through the Jellyfin server due to transcoding or bit-rate limitations after going through the trouble of installing CoreElec specifically for its high-quality and high-compatibility playback. Is this the case at all?

After setting up a basic SMB of my media library for direct file sharing to CoreElec, I've discovered that CoreElec/Kodi seems to have done a rather poor job of actually labeling/sorting my files after scanning them with well over half my library unrecognized and much of what is there showing as incomplete. This is made worse seeing that I only seem to be able to label a given media folder as either TV Shows or Movies, rather than a mix of both. Much of this issue is likely due to the fact that I have a pretty extensive anime library, and I'd been looking into Shokofin as a Jellyfin plugin to help with anime meta-data. Would Jellyfin for Kodi actually help with labeling and organization in this scenario where (as I understand) the plugin is integrated into Kodi's own directories? Or is it a better idea to try and wrangle the organization through Kodi's own plugins?

Any advice is highly appreciated!

It’s connected to a Denon AVR-X3500H receiver.

At the moment, I’m using a Nvidia Shield Pro 2019 with Kodi to watch my movies and series on TV.

I’m reading alot about the Ugoose AM9 pro and I was wondering if this device would work with my components?

I’ve read alot of positive responses about this device but is it really worth to change from Shield to AM9 pro?

At the moment they are at 259 euros in France.

Was gob smacked to play Saving Private Ryan in Ful Fel earlier following a simple APK install. I think only works on very few devices but working fine on Ugoos.

I just bought an AM6B+ and did a fresh install of AVDVPlus R10 with Jellyfin for Kodi. I thought everything was buttery smooth, but it turns out that fast-forwarding or seeking screws up the audio sync.

What other alternatives do you recommend I install? I'm honestly a bit annoyed considering how much praise AVDVPlus gets.

I have been having an issue with a particular high bitrate file lately, and it seems to be down to the video player for some reason using software decoding for h264 for it. I can play back a similarly high bitrate h265 4k/DV file with zero issues and very low CPU usage, but this particular file seems to be causing the player to switch to software decode, which then spikes CPU usage to 100% and crashes during the higher bitrate scenes.

Any tips on what I can do or why this might be happening?

So I’ve recently sold my nas and 2 ironwolf pro enterprise 20tb drives and moved to zurg nightly with rd and torbox. I stream movies on my ugoos am6b plus on a Sony ke 48a9 which I’ve had for 5 years since buying my first place.

With the money from the drives I made plus adding abit more wanted to know if upgrading to a lg c4 or c5 or even the g4 which will unlock display led dv on coreelec make a night and day difference or should I keep my current Sony which plays fel but limited to player led dv. FYI using pannal P3i build.

I know it will be slightly better picture as newer oled compared to my oled from 2021 but does display led really make fel unbelievably distinguishable

I recently bought my first OLED that supports Dolby Vision and I'd love to play Dolby Vision rips directly from a USB drive. My question is; what'd be the best option for that? AM6B+ was for very long tauted as the best and only option but now there seems to be cheaper options and as far as I understand the Xiaomi Box 3rd Generation, which is a lot cheaper, also supports Profile 7 FEL. Would that be the best cheapest one or are there better options?

Can anyone confirm the best/correct setup. I have tried Embycon and can search for individual titles but cannot get a massive curated poster style view of everything like you can in Jellyfin/moonfin/Emby installed on Android. I have also tried Emby for Kodi (Next Gen) but since this caches everything locally I woke up to quite a hot box which has obviously crashed at some stage.

How are people viewing their files on a remote server using the above to get an experience equivalent to that via the mentioned apps on android - thank you

I just received this box and I’m trying to set up CE. I already updated to android firmware 2.2.0.

I downloaded a nightly build and formatted the disk on Windows using Rufus. I copied the appropriate file to root (aka coreelec partition) from the device tree and also placed the .kindle (for FEL 7 support) into root.

I am using a phixero 128 gb usb drive and plugging into the usb-A port.

From what I read online, just a simple restart should boot into CE. Instead, I keep booting into the stock software.

I tried different USB ports and restarting a few times as well as the toothpick recovery method, which did not boot it into CE.

The file browser in the stock android software is able to see the USB flash drive (both the corelec and storage partitions) so I don’t think that the USB stick is the problem.

What am I doing wrong? Or do I need to just give up and do a hybrid boot method with an SD card?

there are ebay/local sellers selling an unopened Cube 2. Cube 3 is on sale now as well and has been unlocked.

Both can run CE. But only the Cube 2 (since its S922x) has the optimized p3i builds. Cube 3 I think has some slight improvements in Dolby passthru etc but I dont know if any of that translates to CE usage.

Which one would you buy today? is it also possible to use CE and dual boot into stock Amazon to use their apps?

I play mostly 4k Remuxes on Coreelec but I literally wake up one morning after it was working perfectly the night before and the files just won't play. Sometimes a reboot fixes things, sometimes it doesn't, sometimes I just have to wait a day and everything is perfect again. I have tried smb and cifs mounting and nothing has ever been durably stable. All network connections are wired. I have invested a hundred hours trying to vibe troubleshoot my way out of this (please spare me the hatred, I am not code or networking savvy) and nothing.

I am at the point of wanting to just plug the DAS into the player (ugoos am6b+), which will suck when I want to add new files, but I'm fed up with having an amazing player that just can't talk stably to the network.

If anyone has a networking approach or intermediary software that I haven't tried, please advise. Thanks in advance.
